Chapter 40 – Orbit
“Capsule 6 is visible again, Captain.”
“Blow it away,” Thyra commanded with a giggle.
Her sentence was punctuated with an explosion. The room's door blew inwards, and pieces of it flew in all directions and ricocheted around. The air turned to a cloud of dust.
Thyra blinked and tried to focus. Something was wrong. Dark, fuzzy shapes, sort of people-shaped, were moving around, but there was no noise. There was only a high-pitched ringing. And how had she ended up on the floor?
She tried to sit up. There was a sharp pain in her chest, and she cried out. She looked down. There was a dark wet spot above her left breast. The stain was spreading. In its center, a piece of jagged metal stuck out from her body.
