Chapter Twenty-NineThe water surrounding him had warmed, but it had done its job. Mason inhaled deeply and stretched before pulling the plug and standing. He reached for the thin motel towel and gently dried himself, careful around the few spots left on his skin to mark the salt burns. He knew he'd been lucky to get away with as little damage as he did, and that there was fresh water so close at hand. He could hear voices in the room, Alaric and someone else.
