Scarlett parked in the spot closest to the door, despite it being handicapped. Her heart pounded in her chest, even though it had been more than a half hour since they'd raced away from the conference center. She shifted the vehicle into reverse and kept her hand on the lever as she scanned every dark recess and corner in the small parking lot. Her eyes came to rest on the federal agent.
Dressed in his usual black suit and tie, Agent Malory Barnes leaned against the metal plate siding of the building, blocking the entrance into CyberBio. The light breeze tousled his hair and pushed open his coat, revealing his badge and g*n.
