Blurb

In a world where the sun rose in hues of lavender and the moon glowed bright like a sapphire, there existed a city known as Lunarvale. To the untrained eye, it appeared like any ordinary place — bustling marketplaces, shimmering rivers, and cobblestone streets lined with colorful shops. Yet the essence of magic flowed through every crevice; the lampposts hummed softly with ancient enchantments, the flowers bloomed in vibrant colors that swayed to the rhythm of an unseen melody, and creatures of lore roamed free. Here, no humans treaded, only the various supernatural beings that filled the air with their lively spirits.

Prologue : Linh.
As twilight draped its cloak over the city, Linh, a bright-eyed werewolf girl, raced through the twilight market with her younger sister, Sofia, at her side. Today was an extraordinary day; as the full moon rose high, Linh would turn eighteen and embrace the sacred rite of passage that awaited her. “Linh, slow down! You’re going to trip over those neon vines!” Sofia giggled, trying to keep up with her sister’s frenzied pace. “Come on, Sofi! This is my last chance to enjoy being human!” Linh exclaimed, a playful sparkle in her eyes. “Besides, I can’t wait to meet my mate tonight!” She twirled, sending her long, raven-black hair cascading like shadows around her. The thought of finding her mate, the other half of her soul chosen by the moon goddess, sent waves of excitement fluttering in her chest. “What if it's someone incredible? Maybe even the Alpha’s son!” she mused, her mind swirling with possibilities. Sofia rolled her eyes, yet a warm smile teased the corners of her lips. “Right! As if someone like Kaden would ever look your way. You’re too kind for someone so… well, you know!” Linh laughed, knowing Sofia’s intention wasn’t to hurt. “You just wait! I’ll prove you wrong!” As they approached their family home, excitement danced in the air. Orion, their father, stood at the door, eyes bright with pride. Astrid, their mother, enveloped Linh in a warm embrace, sprinkling her with affection and joy. Sam, their brother, raised a playful eyebrow. “Well, little wolf, ready to find your fated mate?” he teased, nudging her shoulder. “Maybe,” Linh replied, blushing. “But I’ll be happy with whoever it is!” After the celebrations subsided, Linh stepped outside, her heart thundering in anticipation. Stray hints of magic tickled her senses as she greeted passing acquaintances, the air electric with their shared excitement. The full moon cast its silvery glow over the night, illuminating the path to the grand Ball of Mates. In an enchanting haze, Linh adorned herself in a flowing crimson gown that accentuated her silhouette, shimmering like the petals of a rose beneath the moonlight. When she entered the ornate ballroom, a swirl of supernatural entities mingled, laughter ringing like bells in the crisp air. “Who do you think it will be?” Sofia mused, her arms crossed, curiosity dancing in her eyes. “I don’t know,” Linh replied. “Anyone would be amazing if they understand my heart.” In that moment, a captivating scent fluttered through the air—an intoxicating blend of fresh shampoo and warm soap. Linh inhaled, her instincts kicking in. “What is that?” Without thinking, she followed the scent, her heart racing. Each step drew her closer until she stood before none other than Kaden, the Alpha’s son—his piercing gaze meeting hers. He was everything she had imagined and more, a striking figure, but Linh's joy began to fade as Kaden's expression turned to one of disdain. “What do you think you’re doing here?” he scoffed, utter coldness lacing his words. “Me? Want someone like you? That’s a laugh.” With deliberate cruelty, he uttered the words that echoed like daggers through her heart: “I, Kaden Ashwood, reject you, Linh Ashwood, as my mate.” Her world shattered, silence ensued, the vibrant party fading into the background as the full moon revealed itself in all its glory. Linh's breath quickened, heart pounding, emotions spiraling. Pain coursed through her as her mind began to fracture. Transformation seized her—a violent expression of agony as her body contorted. Her spine cracked with a sickening, brutal snap while fur erupted in a whirlwind of silver. Her senses heightened, but her mind descended into chaos. She became a feral creature, a manifestation of untamed instinct, a silver wolf drenched in a wave of relentless rage. Eyes glowing with a primal fire, she charged into the crowd. Feral Linh was a tempest, claws ripping through the air as chaos ensued. The laughter and music morphed into screams as she lunged towards the unsuspecting attendees. Blood painted the floor, and horror filled the night; ten werewolf forms lay vanquished while others fled, but not before she mauled Kaden, sharp teeth sinking into flesh, a howl of fury rising among the chaos. “Linh! Please, come back!” Sofia cried, desperately reaching out as their family struggled to reason with her. But Linh was lost in the storm of her own rage, the pack’s Alpha, Baron, charging in, a massive black wolf looming with authority. His powerful body collided with Linh, a fierce battle unfolding as they fought, blood spewing under the moonlight’s gaze. In the climactic struggle, Baron struck fiercely, his canines finding their mark as he ripped Linh’s throat—an explosion of crimson surrendering to the night. Pain lanced through Linh, and in her last fleeting moments, she transformed back to her human form, raw and vulnerable beneath the moonlit sky, naked and frail. As her family fell to their knees in despair, Sofia cradled Linh's lifeless body against her chest, tears cascading down her face. Linh, with her final breath, managed a weak smile as if to say goodbye. “Why? Why did you reject her?” Sofia’s voice shattered the tranquility of the night, eyes ablaze with fury as she glared at Kaden. “You don’t get it! She was weak!” he spat, but his voice trembled, regret shimmering beneath the surface. In that moment, suffocating grief twisted into burgeoning anger. Sofia lifted Linh's body, her heart breaking yet igniting with determination. “One day, I promise you this, you will feel my pain,” she vowed, venturing into the blackness of the woods, her family trailing behind—a haunting echo of sorrow, forever changed by the howling of a heartbreak under the moon’s watchful gaze.
