High School Reunion

**Savannah's POV** I turned to see the friendly face I have not seen in far too long. Okay a month is not that long, but Elliot is like one of my favorite people. I stood up to give him a hug and when he let go he held me at arms length.  "Savvy, what are you wearing?" He scrunched his eyebrows together. "I asked you to plan my high school reunion, and now all of my friends are going to see how gorgeous my little sister is." He groaned.  Elliot is my older brother, but I joke that he is my little brother sense he can be so childish at times. I eyed him, and he looked handsome as always. His black wavy hair was actually brushed, and his muscles were very prominent in his light grey suit and tie. "Elly, you look great. Did you grow some more!" I laughed.  My brother is two years older than me and is 5 foot 11. He towers over my 5'6 frame, but the heels gave me a couple inches so it wasn't too bad. "Well, of course I look good. But I'm not the only one. Who is this stunning golden beauty?" Elliot flashed a smile at Chelsea and winked his beautiful green eyes. I rolled my eyes. Chelsea indeed looked stunning. Her golden straight hair was pulled back in an elegant pony tail, a few strands framed her face. Her plump lips were painted a deep red, and she wore only eyeliner and mascara to make her blue eyes stand out. Chelsea was always effortlessly beautiful.  "Elliot, this is my assistant Chelsea. Chelsea, this is my older brother Elliot." They shook hands and Elliot sat down with us.  "So how come you didn't tell me your assistant was so beautiful?" He winked at Chelsea. She just laughed and shook her head.  "Savannah, why didn't you tell me you had a sister?" We all busted out laughing.  Elliot shook his head and leaned closer to her from across the table. "Oh yea, I am definitely marrying you one day."  After a few more drinks, the waiter came and asked for Elliot to sign the receipt. "Oh, you're the one that paid for our lunch." I realized.  Elliot gave me a side hug and laughed. "Of course, Savvy. I didn't want any of these guys thinking they had a chance." We all walked to the ballroom together where the event was being held. I don't know why they wanted to go all out for a ten year high school reunion, but whatever. I got paid more than my rate to ensure everything was the best. I looked around and was pleased. There was no balloon arches, or cheesy backdrops for photos. Everything was clean, elegant, and sophisticated. It was what the client wanted. I never met the client, everything was handled through email or their assistant. Beautiful, grand chandeliers hung from the tall ceilings, the circle tables were covered with gold and black table cloths. The centerpieces were kept simple with a vase of red and white flowers. The DJ was one of the best, and he always dressed up for whatever occasion it was. Everything looked like it was set up for a charity ball, not a high school reunion.  Elliot left Chelsea and I to do our jobs. We collected our ear pieces which allows me to talk to all the staff here to make sure everything was going smoothly. I did my check and everything was good so far. The only thing I was not ready for was to come face to face with Damon Fernandez.  "You seem nervous." Chelsea commented.  I laughed an unsteady laugh. "Well lets just say, the stunning beauty I am today, was not me ten years ago. My hair was not kept, I knew nothing of skin care or make up, and I had braces. I was quiet, a nerd, and unfortunately a target." I shrugged.  Chelsea smiled. "Then I am so glad I made you wear that dress! They are going to eat their hearts out!" "I doubt anyone would even recognize me." I shrugged and I completely believed it.  Everyone knew I was Elliot's little sister in high school, but I haven't seen anyone or talked to anyone since I graduated. Elliot and everyone here graduated two years before me, so how would anyone know who I am? Chelsea and I were approached a bunch of times, but one rule I have is no free time during work. If she wants to date someone she met at an event, then that's none of my business, just don't do it during the event. I recognized a lot of the men who were now looking at me with interest, it made me sick to my stomach. The same boys who teased me and bullied me were now trying to ask me to dance or get my number. Elliot saw that I was uncomfortable, but I made it very clear to him when I took this job that I did not want anyone knowing it was me. Elliot knew of the bullying and he tried to stop it, but it just got worse so I stopped telling him about it. After high school and in college, I took better care of myself. I filled into my body and the braces came off. I knew I was pretty, but the way everyone was looking at me now, was so new and strange.  After a couple of hours, the client made his way to the stage. I couldn't see his face because his back was turned to me. He looked about six feet tall, and his black suit hugged every muscle. Even though I haven't seen his face, I can tell he was an attractive guy.  "You got great taste." Chelsea said through the ear piece.  I jumped, and stifled a giggle. "Shut up, Chelsea." I looked across the dance floor and saw her smiling at me.  "He's like a God." She whispered again. "His face is so chiseled and sharp. Them deep blue piercing eyes demand respect. I would take him all over this floor!" I giggled and a few people turned to me. I apologized and pointed to my ear piece. I didn't want anyone thinking I was crazy. "Back to work, Chelsea."  She nodded and the man started to speak. "Good evening ladies and gentleman." His voice filled my ears. Oh s**t. Oh s**t. "As many of you may remember me, I am Damon Fernandez." Everyone clapped and he continued. I couldn't hear what he was saying. I was too busy remembering my stupid high school crush. He was Elliot's best friend, and partner in crime. Until my brother found out that Damon was one of the reasons everyone started to bully me. They fought, Elliot broke Damon's arm, causing him to be benched for the final football game which scouts were at. Damon lost his shot at a football scholarship and it caused their friendship to end. I felt bad. Yea I was picked on, but just stupid stuff. No one actually beat me up. I never wanted to end someone's future like that.  The man on the stage was indeed the same boy I was crushing on. His light brown hair was still just as curly and perfect. His jawline was now chiseled and had a little facial hair. His deep piercing blue eyes still make me melt. He just looked and sounded more like a man. As Chelsea put it: like a God. "He is about to introduce you, wake up!" Chelsea whisper yelled in my ear.  Just in time I shook my head and blinked a few times. "This beautiful event was put so perfectly together by the best we could find: Savannah Davis." Ugh I forgot to have my last name changed on the pamphlet.  Everyone clapped and looked around for me. I waved my hand in the air, as I always do, and smiled. Damon's eyes locked on mine, and his jaw tensed. He looked shocked, but most of all, he looked angry. After the applause dies down, he continued to talk, every now and then he would look at me. I started to feel dizzy. So I decided to walk around and check in with everyone personally.  The staff seemed happy. They were not mistreated, which happens sometimes. There was no complaints about the food or beverages. I checked with the clean up crew and they were ready to start when the time came. I tried to keep myself busy, not wanting to have any weird run ins with anyone. When Damon finished his speech, I saw him trying to make his way over to me, but he kept getting stopped by fellow classmates. I could tell he was getting frustrated, but I was always relieved.  "Elliot." I found my brother. "I need an awkward favor." I groaned. His eyes saw where mine were, and he rolled his eyes and nodded. "Thank you!" Soon, Damon finally made his way over. "Elliot Edwards. It has been way too long." Damon held out his hand, but my brother stood still. After a few awkward moments he finally let his arm drop. "Who is your guest?" "None of your concern." Elliot spoke coldly. I looked at him with wide eyes. I didn't mean for him to be rude, I just wanted him to pretend to be my date. He turned to me and spoke softer. "Why don't you go get Chelsea, I'll have a car escort you home." He smiled that thousand watt smile.  I cleared my throat feeling really awkward. I should have just left my brother out of this. "Actually, Chelsea and I were gifted a room for the night. Since I can't leave until the last guest does." Elliot knew of how my job worked, which is weird that he would ask me to leave in the first place. "Well then head up to your room, I'll have room service brought up immediately and join you after I make a few rounds." "Okay." I smiled. I hugged him and he kissed my head softly.  I was happy to finally be able to walk away from all of that tension. "Savannah." Damon called. I turned to look at him politely. He was still a client and I could not be rude. "Yes, sir?" He smiled big and looked at me up and down. My cheeks flushed and I felt my heart rate sky rocket. "It was great seeing you after all these years. I have to say, you look amazing." He winked and walked away.  Fuck. He knows who I am. He knows me. A few people heard our exchange and started to put things together. "Oh my gosh, Savannah Edwards?" Someone spoke up.  Now I'm screwed. I nodded politely and walked away. The whispers about who I really was got around like wild fire, and by the time I found Chelsea I was fighting back tears from all the pointing and staring. "Hey, what's wrong?" Chelsea asked.  I cleared my throat and whispered. "Can you handle things for a minute? I need to go to the room and freshen up." She nodded quickly and I told her to reach me through the ear piece if she needs me. I would only be gone for about twenty minutes. I rushed to the front desk and was handed my key card. I rode up the elevator and found my room. It was nothing too fancy. Just a double bedroom, with a small kitchen and living room. It was actually really cozy. I went to the bathroom and splashed some water on the back of my neck and my chest. I dried off and went to find the mini fridge. I found we had a stocked mini bar and decided to take a few drinks of the tequila to calm my nerves. I usually do not condone drinking on the job, but I can't believe everyone who I have managed to avoid all these years are now all in the same room and know who I am. A knock on the door brought me back to reality. "Chelsea I told you to reach me through the ear piece if you needed me." I called as I walked to the door. "What crisis is there?" I said as I swung the door open.  "The crisis is that I didn't know you were married." Damon Fernandez was standing casually outside of my door. "The crisis is that I didn't know you were married, this beautiful, and a successful event planner." He said as he walked forward into my hotel room. Every step he took forward, I took one back. He closed the door and continued to advance towards me. "I have to say when I saw you, I was so pleased to see that you were with your brother. However, when I announced a Savannah DAVIS, I was completely taken back that you raised your hand. Davis. So who is the lucky guy?" He said the last part through gritted teeth. I cleared my throat and took a deep breath. We are not in high school anymore, I am different and I cannot let him affect me this way. "Mr. Fernandez." I said in a business like tone.  He chuckled. "You know who I am. Call me Damon." He bit his lower lip as he looked over my body again. Looking extra hard at my hips and thighs.  "Mr. Fernandez." I said more sternly. I was so tired of being that mousy quiet girl. I was spineless all through high school and my marriage. Well, no more! "MR. FERNANDEZ." I yelled. His eyes snapped to mine immediately. "This is highly inappropriate. You are a client, nothing more. I would appreciate it if you left my room and continued a professional manner throughout the evening!"  Damon fought back a smile as he rubbed his index finger back and forth over his bottom lip. He stepped forward a few more steps, but instead of backing down I stood frozen in my spot. When he was just inches away, he leaned forward and whispered in my ear. "Mrs. Davis, for tonight I will be professional. Tomorrow you will join me for breakfast downstairs, we have so much to talk about."  He turned and left my room before I could even reject his offer. He'll get the hint when I stand him up and just go home. There is no way he can know where I live, and I doubt he would do something as crazy as showing up to my office.  After a few deep breaths and a pep talk, I headed back downstairs. I was relieved to find that the music was going, the lights were dimmed, so no one recognized me. I was also very much relieved when I didn't see Damon anywhere.  "He left." Chelsea announced from behind me. I turned and she gave me a reassuring smile. "I saw him come out of the elevators and go straight outside into a waiting car." I felt my shoulders relax, and I was able to continue my job through the night with hardly any interruptions. The only issue now was trying to make sure I can avoid Damon at all costs. "Hey I think I am going to head home after the event." "Are you sure? We are going to be here late." Chelsea asked me.  I nodded and smiled. "Yea, I'll call a car to come get me. You can drive my car in the morning and I'll meet you back at the office." She shrugged her shoulders and agreed. The rest of the night was business as usual, no more stress.
