Hana forced herself upright, her cheeks sticky with tears. She used the hem of her tee shirt to dry her eyes. “Why are you so nice to me?” she breathed. “I thought you’d be angry.” Logan winced at the cramp beginning in his calves and stood. His nose wrinkled as his blood made its way back into his feet. He dipped his body and scooped her into his arms, spinning before sitting in the chair he rescued her from. Strong arms kept her pinned in his lap and he placed a large hand against the right side of her head to press her face into his neck. Hana felt his shrug of dismissal ricochet through her body. “I didn’t know you thought about my family that way.” Hana swallowed. “Neither did I.” It seemed wrong to admit the insult took her as much by surprise.
