Chapter 33 Alfred ate in the kitchen with Phoenix balanced over his shoulder. He kept his large palm against the flat of her back and she sucked at her fingers and made sighing noises. She burped a couple of times and farted once, making him chuckle. “Funny moko,” he breathed. He pushed the remnants of a buttered scone between his lips. Hana smiled at the domestic scene. Alfred looked less frantic, an aura of calm surrounding him. He’d moved his gear into the attic and decamped to Jack’s spare room.
