Chapter 34 The quad bike left the concrete driveway and bumped over a ridge onto the grass. Logan glanced sideways at Hana and raised an eyebrow. “Okay?” he asked. Hana nodded and clutched the baby against her chest. “Not far now,” he promised. The lush paddock rolled into view and Logan got off to open the gate. “Why are we here?” Hana demanded. She closed her eyes to savour the sea breeze on her face. The vast Tasman Sea glimmered in the distance beyond Port Waikato. “Let’s wait for Tama,” Logan said, measuring the time by the sun. “b****y boy’s late, as usual.” Tama appeared on horseback, sweating and whining. “You can’t just text me and tell me to get up here! Not when I’m half an hour across the valley.” He dismounted in a single bound and bent to rest his palms against his knees.
