Phoenix played with her toes, grumbling when they slipped through her fingers. Hana sat in the back of the car watching. She wondered who her tiny daughter might become in life. “It’s not the same without Tama,” she said with a sigh.
Logan wrinkled his nose in the rear-view mirror. “I need him at the farm. And you’re safe now. We don’t have to worry.”
Logan drove through Huntly and Hana sat up as he ignored the turn towards the Tainui Bridge. Her nose pressed against the side window. “I wanna go to Culver’s Cottage,” she protested. “I need to check something.”
