Lily's Pov The bell of the bakery rang indicating the presence of a new customer, and just on time the timer of the oven went off, I pulled the pie out of the oven. The aroma of the freshly baked pie filled my small bakery, I chuckled and praised myself mentally for creating such beauty. “Maya can you please take this to the counter?” I said to my employee, Maya has been one of my best workers since I took over this bakery a year ago. I also have Mrs philip who is like my mother figure here in my bakery, she is the sweetest soul ever. “Sure boss,” Maya said mischievously, I rolled my eyes at her, she knew how much I hated her calling me boss, I knew she wasn't going to stop anytime soon cause she loved playing around with me. ‘’Sweetheart, your attention is needed here,” shouted Mrs Philips, I made my way to the counter immediately where I met her attending to a customer, “can you please take the order for table five sweetie “ she whispered, we were currently short of staff so I need to help out also. I made my way to the table smiling tiredly, I glanced up and saw the most handsome man I have ever seen in my entire life, with the most alluring blue eye and jet black hair, I can't seem to take my eyes off him. He was wearing a branded 3 piece suit. Everything about this man screams money, power and authority, I will be lying if I said I wasn't intimidated by him. Next to him were two equally handsome men with Brown and gray eyes. Most girls in the bakery were looking his way, but he looks like he was completely unbothered by the attention he was getting, like he was used to it, he has a cold aura around him which made him almost unapproachable. I quickly averted my eyes not wanting to get caught staring, my palm started to sweat badly, his stare is so intense that it can make anyone run for their life. “Good morning, I’ll be your waitress for today, what can I get you guys?” I started professionally. I looked up to them and saw that the blue-eyed guy was focused on his phone while the other two kept glancing through the menu. “I will get whatever your special today is milady”, the one with the brown eyes said making me smile, “I want a pie with a milkshake please” the one with the gray eye said, noting down their orders I turned to the blue eyed man. “Excuse me sir what about you”, he seem so busy or so I thought cause he wasn't responding, “Alex What are you getting” the brown-eyed guy asked him, “just black coffee” he said grumpily without looking up. Rude, I thought in my mind as I walked away to get their order. After getting to the kitchen I told Maya to give them their order not wanting to see the blue eye devil who is making me nervous again. But little did I know that it wasn't the last time we will be seeing each other. …………… It was late in the evening with no customer in sight. I moved to the entrance to change the bakery sign to closed, “goodnight boss, goodnight sweetheart”, Mrs Philips and maya said simultaneously. Goodnight guys, thanks for today I replied back with a smile on my face. I moved to the kitchen to get my bag and apartment keys, picking up my phone. I booked a cab, shut off all the lights in the bakery and made my way out of the bakery, but my smile was wiped away when I found the landlord outside, glaring at me with his dark black eyes. ‘’Hi Mr Raymond I was about to call you”, ‘ I said. ‘’Where's the rent Lily?” He asked, coming straight to the point. “Yeah so about that, I want you to give me a few more days to still gather the money, " I said nervously. “Lily I am done with your excuses, Every time I come around you always have a new excuse to give or you keep asking for more time, I no longer have time for that I am done with you.” “I am giving you 2 weeks to pay the rent. If I come back here in the next two weeks and my money isn't ready, kiss your little bakery goodbye.” ‘‘Please Mr Raymond, i ask for just one month there's no way I can gather up the rent within two weeks”, I plead in the gentlest voice ever. ‘'Sorry Lily, but I am not giving you a day past the 2 weeks I just gave you, either you pay the rent or leave this place”, he said angrily and walked away. After he left, I couldn't stay strong any more. I broke down uncontrollably and sobbed into my palm, the only thing ringing in my mind was that ‘‘I was going to lose the bakery’’, the bakery is my life and losing it will be losing a bigger part of me. I was going to find a way to save it, but deep down in my heart I knew there was no way I could save it.
