Chapter 3- His POv

965 Words
The silence was the first thing that hit me when I woke up. I pushed up on the mattress, my head pounding, my body aching in ways I couldn’t quite put the piece together. The faint taste of something bitter lingered on my tongue. My muscles felt sluggish, like they were not entirely my own. The room smelled faintly of perfume, soft, feminine and delicate scent and then I noticed it. The bed beside me was empty. Sheets tangled, pillow still faintly warm. She was gone. A sharp pang twisted through my chest. I dragged a hand down my face, fragments of last night flickering in jagged flashes, heat, shadows, the sound of soft gasps. The way she clung to me like she’d never been touched before. And then my gaze caught on the dark stain across the white sheets. My chest tightened. She was a virgin. I sat there frozen, memories slicing through the haze. Her hesitation, the way she flinched. The pain in her breath. I had realized it then, in the middle of it all, and even drugged as I was, it had shaken me to my core. She hadn’t been with anyone before. And last night was my first time too. A bitter taste burned the back of my throat. Whoever had drugged me, whoever had orchestrated this, had thrown me into something I never would’ve chosen. And her? Why her? Why would a girl like that be caught up in this mess? I shoved to my feet, stalked toward the bathroom, and yanked the door open hoping to find her there but it was empty. She had left without a sound, without a name. Without even looking back. My jaw tightened, the ache in my chest twisting tighter. A sharp knock rattled the door. “Sir?” Nathan’s voice came muffled from the hallway. I pulled on my discarded shirt, forcing my voice steady. “Come in.” The door creaked open and Nathan, my assistant , stepped inside. His eyes swept the room, observing it, until they landed on the bed. His steps faltered. His gaze darted from the sheets to me, then back again. “Liam,” he said quickly, his voice tight, “you disappeared after the meeting, the bodyguards and I searched the entire hotel. And now…” His voice trailed off as his eyes widened, realization dawning. I turned away, poured myself a glass of water, trying to wash the bitterness off my tongue. “I was drugged.” His eyes widened. “?” “Yes.” I poured a glass of water, forcing myself to speak calmly, though every word scraped like glass. “Someone slipped something into my drink. I barely made it here before it hit me. And when I woke up…” My eyes cut toward the bed. Nathan followed my gaze, and his shock deepened. “You’re telling me… you slept with someone? In this state?” “I don’t need to spell it out.” I cut him off, my tone sharp. I didn’t want to hear the words. Didn’t want to admit it out loud, because the memory of her soft breaths still rang in my ears. Nathan exhaled slowly, rubbing his neck. “Do you… know who she was?” “No.” My jaw clenched. The word tasted like defeat. Because I didn’t. She had slipped away before I woke. She hadn’t left a name, a number or nothing. But she wasn’t ordinary. Her touch, her hesitation, her innocence. I couldn’t shake it. Nathan’s brow furrowed. “If this gets out, the press will destroy you. Investors are already circling like vultures. And if she decides to come forward…” “She won’t,” I said immediately, though my chest tightened at the certainty in my own voice. But I knew it was true. She snuck off like she wanted to erase every trace of what happened. She wouldn’t come forward. She wanted to disappear. But I wouldn’t let her. My gaze darkened, and my voice dropped. “I’ll find her.” Nathan blinked, startled. “You… want to find her?” “She was a virgin,” I said, my voice low, controlled, but heavy. His eyes widened, but I kept going. “It was her first time.” My fists curled tight at my sides. “That’s not something you just walk away from. Not for me.” Nathan hesitated, then asked carefully, “Do you think she was drugged too?” The thought made my stomach twist. Her dazed eyes, the way she could barely hold herself up at first, it all came back to me. She hadn’t been in control. Just like me. “Yes.” My tone was grim. “Someone set this up, they used me, and they used her too.” Nathan let out a low curse under his breath. “Then we need to dig into this. Whoever orchestrated it is bold enough to try again.” I nodded once, my jaw set. “Find out who was behind it. And when we do…” My gaze darkened. “They’ll regret it.” The city glittered beneath the hotel windows, its lights sharp against the night. Normally, the view filled me with control, with certainty. Tonight, it felt like the city was laughing, hiding her somewhere within its endless streets. I pressed my palms against the glass, my reflection staring back at me, cold and unyielding. “I’ll find you,” I murmured under my breath, the promise burning like fire in my chest. “No matter how long it takes.” And for the first time in years, my carefully constructed world no longer felt solid. Because of a girl whose name I didn’t even know.
