Another day, another struggle it was always the same for me nothing new and nothing exciting. Some people would find my life fun because of the money I get to have but it is not like I don't earn it. I headed towards my sister's room to check up on her. I heard the water running down in her bathroom so I took that as a hint she was showering.
"Lynnds, I'll be right downstairs!" I exclaimed and she replied with an okay. I headed towards the sofa checking if I have everything I need in school, after confirming I have everything I checked my reminders and schedule.
I was checking my calendar when I got a message notification from Oliver.
From: Oliver Cameron
Hey! Good morning, you're still up for the coffee right? :))
I replied with a yes and he followed by a celebrating emoji which made me snicker, "Oh who are you talking to? Who's making my baby sis smile like that?" I was startled when my sister appeared
She moved her eyebrows up and down teasing me, while I rolled my eyes at her. She's at it again! She has been pairing me up with the brother of her colleagues because it was awfully awkward! I mean, I am a total overthinker myself so I always think that after every date they'd say how bad I am to their brothers and the message will be passed to my sister.
Not that I'm really bad, I'm just bad at socializing that's all. I can be friends with anyone but if you don't pass my vibe check then that's where it becomes awkward.
"It's no one, and don't be too nosy. I've had enough of you snooping around my phone" I replied whilst squinting my eyes at her and she just laughed at me
"We should get going Mr. Liu must've been waiting outside for some time now" I quickly changed the subject and gathered my stuff to head outside while she followed
"Who will I drop off first?" Mr. Liu asked after exiting the mansion's gate "I think its too much trouble for Valie if you drop me off first so to the univ then"
Valie
Darn, that nickname it's been ages since I heard that come out from my sister's mouth. "I loathe that nickname so much Lynnds," I said slumping back at the car seat "Oh promise me there was a different hint of happiness in your eyes when I said it just now" she answered in a matter of fact tone
"This bi-" I faking attempted to hit her and she flinched a little making me laugh my ass off in the car seat and she just mumbled out some curse in which you don't wanna know
Silence filled the whole ride, except for the few chats me and my sister had. What mom said last night has been occupying me making me unable to concentrate on our topic making my sister mad obviously.
"I can't with you, you're so easily distracted" she waved her hands and sighed announcing her defeat and disinterest in talking to me
"Shoo! Shoo! Go away you easily distracted human being" she said after arriving at the gate of my university "Whatever old hag" I teased her and shut the car's door before she can even hit me.
I ran a little due to the adrenaline of being smacked by my sister not knowing that Oliver was already standing in front of me. "Oh!" I covered my mouth in an instant a habit of mine whenever I get startled, you can say I'm a scaredy-cat myself.
"Woah there," he said and chuckled before continuing "I'm sorry I didn't know I'd startled you" he immediately handed me the cup of coffee in his hand "Thanks," I said and raised the cup to point out I was thanking him for the coffee
"No sweat, so as planned. Where do you want to talk?" he began to walk so in an instinct I followed him with the same speed though I can totally notice him speeding down due to my short legs.
"We can talk over there under the tree" I pointed to the place and we sat together while getting comfy, "So, literature huh?" It started as a conversation and I saw him getting something from his bag.
"Here blueberry muffins, I didn't know what to get you so I kinda bought every pastry there" I malfunctioned for a minute because of the number of pastries in front of me I snorted unladylike "Well next time just buy me blueberry muffins and were fine" I took the bread from him and took a bite
"What are we supposed to do now with all of these" he was trapping his chin thinking of away until I heard him snap his finger "I know a place where we can take them! Let's go there after school hours, for now, let's talk about the schedule" I nodded and shifted my seat to face him
"So what time is your theatre practice?" I asked taking out my spare notebook where I write down my daily schedule and important stuff. "We practice during the weekends and I remember that you mentioned you aren't free on weekends so that's fine our schedules won't overlap. Weekends are most likely out of the day choices"
"Aside from Wednesday's, are there any other days you aren't free?"
"Nope! I'm totally free" he nodded his head and gave it some thought before coming to a conclusion "Oh, why don't we meet up on Thursday's and Friday's. I'm kinda not that fast-paced so it might take some time"
"Sure, fine to me should we start today or next week?"
Walking to my last class was rather peaceful, though mom saying that dad is planning on arranging me with someone is still lingering in my head and is occupying my mind too much.
Oliver and I compromised with the schedules he also asked if we can start today which was fine because I don't have anything else to do. And for the first time I'm tutoring someone in their own house, Oliver doesn't use the university-free dorm since he grew up like me but he said he has a roommate from the basketball team of our school which is also his childhood best friend.
I'm not that familiar with anything related to sport, I don't find it interesting. And I'm not that skilled with any sport, so I guess it's fate that I'm not interested in sport and sport isn't interested in me as well.
"Charmaine Valencianna hello?!" I was brought out from my thoughts when I heard Ava's loud voice calling me from the classroom hall's door.
This girl and her loud ass voice "Coming!" I answered and ran a little to fasten up my pace and sat down beside her "What's up?" she asked and I said nothing much.
The class was well, kinda exciting I guess. Because other than Ava getting scolded for dozing off at class there was this student who was late and our professor made him discuss the lesson. Maybe it was his way of examining if we read the cases or not.
"I still can't believe that Mr. Lim is shortening my due date for that research!" she sighed dramatically and gave me puppy eyes "Please be a good friend and help this pathetic friend of yours"
Nope. Not falling for it again.
"No, I'm not helping you and I remember you saying that you're almost done with so it's fine you can live with it" I patted her head since I was an inch taller than her and walked away.
"Where are you going?!" she exclaimed following me "I have a new tutor on Thursdays and Fridays"
"What?! Argh, I was planning on taking you to this new place across the road" I think she was talking about the coffee shop. "You mean the coffee shop?" she nodded answering my question
"Oh, I've had their coffee already its delicious especially the blueberry muffin" she gasped at me and covered her mouth "How come you already ate there when I had to fall in line just to buy a bottled water because they ran out of stock for milk or any caffeine"
"Is it really that famous?" she nodded her head ahead of us where you can see the long line of students from our school "See?"
"I wasn't aware, Oliver bought me some so I thought it was just like Starbucks" once again she gasped dramatically I don't know how many times I've heard that gasp from her
"Oliver! Like Oliver Cameron!?" I nodded, what was so special about him? Was it because he was part of the theatre group? I wasn't really the one to know about school gossips or the one who worship those well-known students.
"Yeah what about him?"
"What about him?! Are you hearing yourself?!" as if she can't get any more dramatic than she is right now. "Oh right, its probably nothing to you since the whole Twitter fiasco thing last night"
"That was so embarrassing!" I exclaimed widening my eyes at her "Like, he knows he's famous why would he do such a stunt. I mean I don't hold grudges though, I was just messing with him although I was a little taken aback by what he said but then again! He should've just waited for today to talk to me."
I didn't know I was saying things out loud not until I finished my little speech and students who were passing by looked at me weirdly. "Girl, what are you talking about?" God! Even Ava finds me weird!
After explaining everything to her we finally reached the universities gate, "Oh so that's why he was saying sorry. Kinda get him I mean Charmaine Valencianna Monroe never acted that way not that they'd seen you like that before except for us but yeah you get me."
"It's a pity that you can't be free on a Friday night. Imagine all the wild parties you'd miss out on"
Not that I was a party animal, just like the usual students are. I can say I'm just in-between of it like I can party hard like an animal or not like a good child my parents taught me to be. One thing for sure, I'm still a virgin well. Virgin from s*x, but my eyes and ears aren't.
"Charmie!" I heard someone call me so in an instinct Ava and I turned and saw Oliver jogging towards me. "Hey" he greeted me a little breathless from the jog he had. "What's up, Oliver this is Ava my best friend and only friend. Ava this is Oliver, I'm sure you know him"
"Hey! If she's your only friend what am I?" he crossed his arms and pouted like a child. Gosh, can he be more immature and childish than he is right now? Because if there's more to this I'm quitting this job I'd rather be going against my words by teaching my schoolmates than see this disgusting s**t.
"Can you be like less annoying Oliver? Gosh, you're my student. Do teachers and students become friends?" I squinted my eyes pressuring him a little to answer and I can say I was quite successful! Did I say he was childish earlier? Forget that I can be like that sometimes too.
"Well, students and teachers can be friends too" he argued back meanwhile I felt guilty for Ava to see this nonsense fight. "How?" I asked and he strutted and gave it thought for some time and eventually gave up.
"I can't with you! You're so hard to argue with and I know you're an aspiring lawyer but please refrain from arguing with me like I'm some type of lawyer you're against with. I promise I'll always be siding you just don't fight with me it is stressing me out."
Ava chuckled at the side, finding it amusing. How is this amusing?! "Excuse me you two, I have a party to attend to" she didn't even wait for me to say bye to her and just left the two of us there.
After a good 3 minutes of awkward silence, I said "Fine fine, let's have it your way. And let's go we can't waste a single minute! I have to make your pay worth it."
Walking inside his "not so expensive car" as he would like to call. I mean a Bentley is sure not expensive, my gosh rich people and their money. "Let's go? Or should we go to a drive-through before our class?" he asked and I chose to drive through I mean you need some food in your stomach at least.
I was busy texting someone that it might have bothered as I can see him taking multiple glances at me "I'm talking to my driver Mr. Liu, I don't want him waiting at the school gate for hours not knowing I was tutoring you"
"How nice of you" I don't know if it was just me or he sounded like he was teasing me. I side-eyed him and glared at him before answering my phone because my sister called.
["Mr. Liu said he won't fetch you at the uni?"]
"Yup, I have someone to tutor"
["Outside school premises?!"]
"It's not like I'm in high school to fool around Lynnds. I know what I'm doing, don't worry I'll come home virgin"
["So it's a guy?! I swear Charmaine!"]
"Chill out okay? He's a decent guy. Oliver Cameron, ring a bell?"
["Oh, well I suppose you're in good hands bye now!"]
And just like that, she hung up on me without letting me say goodbye. I noticed Oliver's awkward state maybe because when I said I'll come home as a virgin. What can I say? My sister needs assurance and most definitely she wanted to hear that.
"Sorry about that, it's just that my sister. You know typical older sister" he nodded his head obviously still awkward about the situation. "Hey! You don't have to be awkward around me, this is frustrating"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I was just focusing on driving do you mind getting McDonald's?" I've never had that food in such a long time! Not that I'm not allowed or what, but I keep myself on a strict diet.
"Sure! Sounds good to me" the car went sideways towards the drive-through of McDonald's and after getting our food he asked me. "So was your sister with you when you went to school?"
"Why are you curious?"
"Just because..." I laughed at his anxious state. Between me and my sister, she's most likely to attract everyone with her charms. I'm more of the quiet on the side sibling so no one would really know I'm her sister unless she introduces me.
"You're so funny when you're anxious, but to answer you. Yes, that was my sister."
Arriving at their apartment complex he held his backpack and the one paper bag we had with our food he insisted to bring it. "So can I come here occasionally?" I asked once we stepped inside the elevator.
"Yeah, but why though? I can tell the receptionist so that you won't have a hard time passing through" he pressed the floor 9 and adjusted his bag which was obviously sliding down his shoulder
"You might forget we have tutor classes so I can stop just welcome myself at your place. I have over 200 scenarios in my mind that may need me to come here"
"Like what?"
"You might leave your things or something you own and me being a good citizen I will give it back"
"But can't you just give it the next day?"
"What if you left your phone with me? Can you wait for let's say 12 hours?" he clicked his tongue and snapped his finger "Yeah you're right how about the other scenarios?"
"I might need a friend to talk to or just a place to crash in when my family makes me feel like trash or just probably a bad day" he nodded his head thinking if he should consider my request and he finally said it "Fine to me, though Blaise might be there so don't get surprised"
The elevator doors opened and I followed him because the hallways were a little too small for the both of us to walk side-by-side. "Blaise?"
"Yeah, my childhood best friend whom I live with. The one I was telling you earlier" now I remember we entered his house and being the good person I am I took off my shoes. Not that it was necessary but I remember walking to the school's grass field.
"Oh, it's fine just walk around with shoes on," he said dropping his bag on the couch.
The place was bigger than I expected, after entering the kitchen will be seen on your left and there are three rooms doors on the right I suppose that's their rooms. Then in the front of the kitchen bar was the couch with the television.
They also had a glass door that leads to the balcony. "No it's fine, I walked to the schools' grass field so yeah I might get dirt everywhere"
He nodded his head and asked if I wanted anything to drink I answered and said water will be fine. So here I am, laying down all the worksheets and one of my old literature books from high school so he can use it as a reference or whatever.
"Here" he handed me the water, I was about to start discussing of should we do and how will the tutoring go when he excused his self to take a shower. I can't say no after all this is the place I work for him and he pays me.
I was busying myself when the front door opened making me look at it and I saw freaking Tristan Blaise Anderson!
The arrogant player of our basketball team, of all people, that has to be Oliver's friend why him?! "Oh? Little Miss Monroe is here?" I don't know whether he was teasing me or whatever I just can't stand him and his arrogance.
"Yeah, so what are you gonna do about it?" I shifted my seat and faced on the other side where I can't see him. "So what are you his new girl toy? Or perhaps he is your new boy toy?"
See? That's why I don't like him and his whole presence, attitude, aura just everything about him! If only the president allows me I've already thrown him away to Mars.
I didn't answer him because I wasn't planning on wasting my precious energy and saliva with his closed mind. "So you aren't answering now?" I could hear him placing down his duffle bag on the kitchen bar table and got himself a glass of water.
I can practically smell his sweat from practice how disgusting. Though there was still a hint of Calvin Klein perfume on him, I'd rather not point that out or he'll get on his head.
"Come on Charmaine a simple yes or no would do. Or maybe, no I'm here as a maid." I won't go against my morals on this!
The heavens finally heard my prayer as I heard Oliver come out from his room while rubbing his head with a towel. "Oh, hey Blaise. This is Charmaine Monroe, my literature tutor" I didn't bother to greet him as I'm already pissed off by him.
"You won't greet each other?" Oliver asked and Blaise just sighed. The audacity! "She has bad blood with me"
"Well, it is a normal Blaise thing. Just go to your room we'll be here." the annoying human being left and went to his room but before he can shut his door close he said
"Oh by the way Charmaine. I think you will have no choice but to see me more often."
