03 : Car Ride

1920 Words
"That's all for tonight!" I closed the book, making it thud because of its thickness and I took off my reading glasses. "That fast?" Oliver asked me with a bewildered expression. "Yeah, you were pretty fast to pick up with the things I corrected you with. I don't think you need my help anymore, you just need concentration." That was a fact I thought he'd be all over the place while we learn but he wasn't. He was a fast learner I can say he just needs guidance. "You're right with the concentration part, I like to try many things but end up getting bored with it." he helped me fix my stuff making it easier for me "Can't sympathize with you there, I enjoy everything I'm doing now and I'd rather have it that way than learning something new. You see I lack persistence, and if I don't get it right away I'll just give up and curse at the wind." After saying that statement it both made us laugh, funny how we're so similar and opposite in many different ways. "You guys done flirting? I'm about to puke here" I didn't even bother looking at who it was. "Can you not?" I said annoyingly and slung my bag at my back walking past him but I made sure to hit his shoulders and slipped on my shoes. "Woah careful their woman," he said as if getting hit on the shoulder by a woman was amusing. Oliver who was watching everything unfold, also followed me by the door and patted Blaise's shoulder, I don't know whether he was consoling from being hit by me or was he just laughing at his state. We rode the elevator because he insisted on driving me home but I insisted on getting an Uber. But he still won so at least I don't get to waste money. Arriving at the parking lot I walked the same way we went, he opened the car and we hopped inside. But then when he opened the engine he suddenly sighed, "What's up?" I asked stopping from texting my sister that I was going home now. "I don't have that much gas, we won't last that long on the road and the nearest gas station is 20 minutes away" I didn't know what to do, how was I supposed to know anyway? "I'll call Blaise, let's use his car" we both went down from the car and I leaned my back to the car door while he called his annoying roommate. "Hey, yeah Blaise can I use your car? Ran out of gas man, okay okay" he dropped the call and walked back to me. Hands in his pocket, embarrassed of the situation. "Hey it's fine, no worries I don't have any early classes if it can ease you" I smiled at him. "I'm not sorry about that," I made a face and he held onto his nape. "I mean I'm sorry about that but, I'm also sorry about what's about to happen?" I raised my two eyebrows oblivious about the situation. Why would he be sorry? It's not like he did something bad to me back then right? I was about to ask why but the elevator doors open with Blaise twirling the car keys around his finger. He was about to hand the car keys to Oliver but he said, "Can you take her home for me? Mom called she sent me that project I've been pitching for months now." So that's why he was saying sorry, I don't want to blame him. As he said he's been pitching it for months so it is really important and it might be the only chance he can get his project working. Oliver sent me an apologetic smile but I said it was okay and he can go on so he jogged towards the elevator and disappeared. I didn't notice that Blaise was inside the car not until he honked at me, startling me. "Get in woman we don't have all day" he stated as he stuck out his head from the window. I sat down in the passenger seat and wore the seat belt. "Give me your address" he simply stated without any hint of humor so I guess he isn't here to annoy me. Thank you my dear guardian angel for granting my wish this once! I may have looked too happy that he said, "What's to be happy about?" he looked at me briefly before looking back at the road. I cleared my throat to recover from the embarrassment I just experienced.  "Nothing much just remembered something," he nodded his I'm quite surprised he didn't have anything say back at me. That's much better than handling all his useless comebacks and lame jokes. I shivered at the thought of hearing his cheesy old dad jokes. "Sooo....." he trailed off breaking the silence of the car. I guess I was pretty immersed in my thoughts, and he must've been waiting for me to talk. "Yeah?" replied and turned my head to look at him to my surprise he was also looking at me since the red light was still on. He suddenly became red as a tomato, and I don't know why.  Oh gosh don't tell me he is thinking of dirty thoughts, please he isn't Harry Styles! "What the f**k Blaise!" I exclaimed waking up from his trance. I hit his right arm multiple times for his thoughts, though he didn't say it out loud. But why would a man suddenly become flushed if they aren't thinking of such thoughts! Unlesss... Unless, they're with someone they like, but that's out of the options. "Hey watch it woman I am driving and your life's at stake here!" I sat back and huffed, feeling irritated and flustered with him thinking of those things.  The car became quiet, the sound of air condition filled the room, if ever a pin fell here we could have possibly heard it because of the silence. I always complained about loud places, but this is more of torture! I can't bear another minute with this silence. "So why did you hit me? Are you going, crazy woman? " "So why did you suddenly think of dirty thoughts? You pervert. " We both said at the same time and did he just say, crazy woman?! "Who's crazy?!" "Who's a pervert?!" Again we said it at the same time, I want to facepalm because of what's happening. I totally cannot handle this, someone save me. "Okay you go first," he said and I nodded finding the right words to not trigger him. "Well, you were red as hell when you looked at me. So you know" I used my hands to gesture him what I wanted to say and his mouth formed an 'O' and his eyebrow twitched. "Are you for real?" he asked slightly laughing, is this funny to him? Why am I getting offended? "I don't like you in any way, hell I'm not even attracted to you so please chill out. It might have been the red light that made my face red." "Well you can never be too sure, I'm not a mind reader to know what you're thinking," I tried saving myself which looked kind of effective besides, I don't want to come out as a perverted person here. Not that I'm not but that's beside the discussion.  I sat back and huffed, when he's around all I feel is annoyed. Luckily he zipped his mouth until I saw the gate of our house, I was checking if my things were inside my bag when we stopped abruptly. "What the f**k Anderson! Can't you just drive in pea- Hi dad!" I opened the door and hopped off the car fast enough before dad goes super sian, "Hi sweetie your mom was worried where you are and you're just with this man?" "Oh sorry dad, you know Oliver Carson right?" He looked a little stunned and looked back at Blaise who was sweating, "I know his father, Freddie" "Great! I tutor him actually, and Blaise right here is his roommate" my dad's brow raised and I chuckled scared to death "Oliver had plans and Blaise was free so you know" I made gestures to lessen the awkward tension and dad finally nodded. "Okay well, I suppose thank you Mr.?" "Tristan Blaise Anderson, Blaise for short sir" he smiled politely and dad the same before walking off. Turning around I gave Blaise an apologetic smile and said "I'm sorry about that" "No worries, dads are dads. I'll get going first" I nodded and then he drove off Brushing my hair after a relaxing bath I stood up to look at my things but then I didn't see any sign of my bag inside my room. I tried finding it on the couch but didn't see it. "Oh s**t" that's what I can say, I immediately phoned Oliver but he wasn't picking up because he was busy and I don't have Blaise's number The only way was to ask Ava because she knows a lot of people. I think half of our universities population is her friend. "Sup girl!" "Hey, do you have Tristan Blaise Anderson's number?" I was biting my nails because I know she'll tease more or she'll have some other things to say "Eyyyy, you like him don't you?" "No! Okay before you talk and assume things I left my bag in his car" "Oh my gosh! You do like him!" It was wrong to tell her that isn't it? My gosh, why didn't I think of this? "Do you have it?" "Chill out, I do have it I'll text it to you. Go get your man girl!" And just like that, I ended the call with a sigh. I rolled over and laid on my back, hands in my stomach whilst slowly closing my eyes. It was one of the moments I get to enjoy my peace and quietness, it was just me and the silence at times like this I try to empty my thoughts and not think of anything. But of course, Lynda had to ruin it, "Valie!" she swung the door open and saw me opening my eyes I was at the edge of my bed so I saw everything unfold. "Sorry to interrupt your little sleep but! Someone dropped your bag on the sofa" I immediately ran and saw my bag right there, I checked everything and my things were complete before taking it with me I saw a note on the side that says. "You owe me one Monroe ;) -Anderson" Typical Blaise, I folded the paper and just as I was about to stand up I heard Lynda ask "Who's Anderson?" "No one now please let me go" I faked a smile and walked to my room after placing back my bag I saw Ava's text saying: "+1-415-123-4567 thank me later when you get the d" I ignored her comment and went on to text Blaise, of course not to inform him about my bag but to thank him. I just said a simple thank you and his reply was. "Yeah yeah, but you still owe me" Why am I starting to like his humor? ——————————————————————————————————— :p
