CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE hello, brother Len spends the next hour on the phone, gathering as much info as he can before this explodes across breaking news chyrons. We switched the war room TV to one of the local news outlets, and already a circus of reporters and spectators have gathered outside the Vancouver Art Gallery behind the barricades and yellow tape set up by Vancouver PD. The scene is straight out of a dystopian blockbuster: hazmat-suited emergency personnel, white tents shielding potential victims from public view, sirens blaring, heavy-duty respirators on faces of first responders rushing about.
