WHEN I FIRST SAW YOUđź’“
The bell rang, sharp and sudden slicing through the murmur of the afternoon.
Students laughing and echoing foot steps like waves.
San moved quietly and gently through the crowds of the students calmly, his backpack slung carelessly over his left shoulder. He wasn't one for noise so everyone knew him as quiet and reserved person around the school.
Then he saw her.
She stood by the window, arguing with a friend over a missing piece of art she had been doing, her brows drawn in playful frustration. Ying - he didn't know about her name yet, but something about the way she was talking lifted above the chaos and made him pause.
Her hair and her sharp eyes caught his attention
and her stubborn expression softened into a smile.
For a moment he smiled, the world slowed. The chatter faded. it was just her and strange calm that filled him when he looked at her.
Ying noticed him watching. "What" she asked, half serious, half laughing.
He blinked caught, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Nothing," he murmured. “Just the bell is still ringing."
She tilted her head amused and said “ the bell stopped a while ago.”
And with that small ordinary moment, something unexplainable began quiet and sure, like the first ripple before a tid.
Neither of them knew it, but that glance, that gaze would change everything.
