Her hands ran weak as she tried hard to get up from the bed as the pain ran from her lower abdomen to her feet.
With the blood that flowed from her hole to the ground, tracing her steps as she walked to the bathroom to clean herself, she tried hard to find her grip as her body shivered due to the pain in her lower abdomen and the heaviness she felt in her tommy as though she was pregnant.
Therefore, she decided she would run a pregnancy test and swear down to earth for the bastard that had r***d her.
After cleaning up herself, she got dressed in her dress of last night that still carried the shameful memory of sleeping with ‘only God knows who’.
She pitied herself for what would become of her after the punishment she would receive by her father and the assalts from her aunt and… Shara.
She vowed to commit suicide after or probably abort the baby after the pregnancy test, if the results turn positive.
After all, there was no use of bringing the baby to the world when she could promise it a good life.
To her, it would be preferable to die, but she had hopes of one day being the boss of her own while her parents would beg for her mercy.
Most especially Shara…
Her most hated enemy who had requested to be the only superstar daughter of the Banks, and since they couldn't eliminate her they decided to make her change her face so she wouldn't look like Shara anymore, and then they threatened to kill her foster mother, who had loved and trained her since she was abandoned by her parents when she was just five years old.
She brushed the thoughts off her mind and made her way to the exit after covering her face with a scarf she found in the room.
She walked out of the hotel silently like a spy who had found her target.
She didn't bother to turn when there was a harsh sound of a vase smashing on the ground, or the sounds of the annoying baby cries coming from different sides, and she wondered why on earth babies were even brought to a relaxation center.
She turned to a corner pathway and continued to walk straight forward even after noticing that a car had been following her the whole time.
She continued..
Not caring to turn back to give even the slightest glance..
She continued..
Suddenly the car moved faster and stopped in front of her.
She panicked and tried to dogde, but the driver was fast. He moved backwards and stopped her from passing through, then a man jumped out of the car and covered her mouth tightly with a piece of cloth and pulled her into the car with him.
After that, the driver reversed and zoomed off.
…
“Release her please, I can't stand seeing my daughter-in-law tied up.” Elder Mrs Raven ordered.
“We would have ma'am, but we feared she'd run,” one of the men in the room said.
“Well, you have received an order. So obey it!” She commanded, and the men didn't hesitate to obey.
“Good..” She smiled as they removed the blindfolds used to cover her eyes.
Maya blinked her eyes rapidly as the bright light nearly blinded her.
She still couldn't hear properly as the very annoying sounds in her head that worked hand in hand with her headache seemed to halt all her senses, so she didn't hear any of the conversations with the old lady and the men, neither did she remember what had happened a while ago.
She looked around the bright room that had the fresh scent of roses, and a beautiful light blue painting as the background, a pretty and short plain white curtain with light blue rose designs that made the room beam with elegance.
“Welcome home, my daughter-in-law.” Elder Mrs Raven hugged her tightly after seeing her beautiful eyes open.
Maya, on the other hand, fell dumbstruck as first she wondered how on earth she could be the old lady's daughter-in-law and why she seemed to care so much.
When the old lady moved away, she glanced at her with curiosity in her eyes as they stirred at each other.
“What's your name sweetie?” The old lady asked and Maya reluctantly replied.
“M..Maya..”
‘She’s ugly but has a nice name’ One of the men thought disgustedly.
“A nice name for a pretty woman like you.” The old lady genuinely complimented.
“And do you know who I am?” She asked for the girl to give a guess, but classic Maya wouldn't dare.
“I'm bad at guesses please.”
“Okay,” the old lady smiled.
“I'm Elder Mrs Raven and you, my dear, will take over as Mrs Raven very soon. You will become a daughter-in-law of the Raven family because you are carrying the heir of the Raven family. Do you understand now?” Elder Mrs Raven explained.
At this point, Maya didn't know what to do.
She was dumbfounded and curious at the same time, then suddenly pictures of the events of last night till this morning began to flow back into her memory and she held her tommy in agony as the pain intensified.
She mourned slightly and, as a mother who had experienced such, Elder Mrs Yates turned to one of the men immediately.
“Hurry, get some painkillers from the hospital.”
“Yes, ma'am.” The man obeyed and rushed quickly.
“You will be fine, okay. Just be rest assured that you are safe here with me and not even Gerald and hurt you.” The old lady said firmly and Maya couldn't stop but wonder who on earth Gerald was.
Now things were beginning to hurt, not just in her tommy and lower abdomen, but also in her head.
She needed answers.
She wanted answers..
But the answers never came until everything went blank…
…
“If you had come right away, maybe she wouldn't have fainted, Gerald.” Elder Mrs Raven scolded.
“It's not like my presence will change or help anything, Mom.” Gerald replied arrogantly.
‘Gerald’, ‘Mom’. Maya, who had just woken up, grabbed those words, and everything seemed to get into place.
Apparently, the man she slept with was this overly nice old lady's son, and his name was Gerald.
‘Gerald’..why had she heard that name somewhere?
It was not just the name of a normal individual, but she recalled it to be the name of one of the most wealthy young tycoons in the city. A billionaire that spoke nothing but wealth.
She had many times caught Shara daydreaming of him when she lived with them during those times when her foster mom got sick.
And that name, that voice…
It must be him..
But if truly it is, then that speaks to trouble, as Shara would never let her be..
And her baby?
What would come of it?
When the man's voice it was obvious he needed her not, and she wouldn't dare to ask him to, so all she had was her foster mom and probably… Gerald's overly nice mother.
“Maya? Are you awake?”
As soon as maya heard her name, she shut her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
“Look, you have scared her with your annoying look.” Elder Mrs Raven brushed him aside and ran to meet Maya.
“Are you awake dear?” Maya nodded slowly to her question and opened her eyes, but her gaze fell right on that of Gerald's.
The spark was weird, it had unknown feelings and emotions attached to it.
Emotions that she couldn't understand, and neither could he.
He twitched his eyebrows in form of confusion and turned his glance away.
“Maya, this is my son, Gerald, your future husband.” The old lady smiled brightly at the confused Maya, then she turned to Gerald, not minding the confusion on their faces.
“Gerald, this is Maya, your future wife. In which you will marry, because you have no choice, plus she is carrying your child. The heir of the Raven's family.”
Gerald could have sworn he would wrap his mother apart the moment she called the ugly cockroach lying in the sick bed.
“Is this a joke?”
The man's question broke Maya to pieces.
“What joke?” The elder Mrs Raven asked.
“Does this look like a joke to you? Or do you have no morals as a man? Does a pregnant woman who has your child in her tommy ow look more like a woman to you?”
“Woman?” Gerald sneered impatiently.
“Not when that woman looks more like a burned marshmallow,” Gerald mocked and at the same time didn't bother to spare Maya a glance nor think about how she would feel.
Although she expected it to turn out this way, she just couldn't grab why this had to happen to her.
Why did it have to happen to her?
Why not Shara, who would love it?
Why did it have to be the innocent her?
Oh God, no, there was no hope for her to leave.
“My fiancée is way better, plus she has a child for me already, and her baby bump is way bigger, which means she wins.” His words sounded more like he was speaking about the lottery, like he was making himself a price or, moreover, the daughter-in-law title was the price.
After those words, he walked up to the door and didn't glance back until he go to the door and held the door knob.
“I'll bring her to see you by tomorrow, and then we'll have our engagement ceremony. Trust me mom, she's way better..”
He walked out of the ward without waiting for a reply and Maya hated the fact that meeting her r****t had turned out to be something she wished never happened.
It would have been better if they had let her be, but seeing the determination in his mother's face, she was positive she wouldn't get the chance.
