Chapter 4: how to save a life...well 2

sandy;s pov

it had been 3 or 4 days since Mary decided to be my friend. breakfast, lunch and dinner were absolute treats. she always brought just enough for both of us. by that i mean, she takes a small portion, of enough to feed multiple people. i was hungry not eating for more than 100 years does something to ones appetite.

speaking of which here she comes! i can hear the clacking of her heals on the stone floors she always wore these cute platform boots that were designed to look like sneakers.leather jacket tied round her waist shorts and and tank top she was carrying waffles and hash browns with sunny side up runny yolk eggs. 2 sides of gravy and fried mushrooms my favorite! i was salivating. ready to start today conversations. i missed talking sooooooo much.

"hey girl, so today gotta be about some info so we can look ya up and give alpha some background, ok?" Mary started.

"ill tell ya what ever i can! gimme food, please master!" i over exaggerated and begged on my knees.

" oh get up you brat, i swear. act like i've held food over your head even once." she said smirking. i scrambled over to my bed and sat up like a puppy sitting pretty and gave her the eyes. one thing i learned about hanging out with her she had a vast sense of humor. every thing from the dark and macabre to the corney predictable stuff. she laughed.

"whose a good girl?"

"Oi, ill be a good drag queen if ya give me some of that f*****g food, i'm starving here!" Carl shouted. we called him Carl, hes corrected us numerous times we don't care to remember his real name as, all hes ever shown us is that hes a perv. i even actually reached out to him once in earnest. he acted normal, even seemed like he was gonna take up my offer so i asked a guard to unlock my cage. i walked over offering friendship and a few of the biscuits that Mary had left me. first thing he did was grope my ass and then my chest. hes twisted.

" shut up Carl!"

"my names not f*****g Carl you cunts!" he screamed at us.

" yea, yea ", i said,"no one to blame but yourself. i tried being nice few nights ago u prick.all u had to do was be nice back."

no response.

that shut him up. i reached for the food. pleading with my eyes. Mary shook her head and laughed.

"here you addict." she said handing me the bowls. i worked quickly to stir in the gravy and mushrooms then both eggs were broken over them and mixed in.i took my first bite....heaven. she sat down and got comfy sitting Indian style and took out a note book and a pen.

"ready?" she said smiling. i nodded.

"your full name?"

"Alexsandria Celeste Nephus."i said between bites of hash brown mix. it was amazing i was moaning.this was a food-gasm.

"Ok, mothers name?" she asked.

"no clue. if i did i would tell ya. hey speaking of that your brothers gonna listen to my warning right?" i asked still digging in.

" at this present moment, yes. however when alpha gets back he may choose to ignore your warning. we have to try. my brother and I know you haven't lied to us about any thing. and you have every opportunity to leave but have been a model detainee. so maybe using these traits we can get alpha to trust you." she said. i nodded my head again. she smiled and picked her pencil back up.

"ok fathers name?" she said.

"once again no clue. that's one if you want answers you have to ask your seer or the alphas who held me i know they managed to figure it out once. but they never told me. they loved taunting me about it though." i spoke i slowed down my eating these subjects were making me loose my appetite.

" any defining birthmarks?" she asked.

" not that im aware of." i said.

"country of origin?" she asked me.

"um, best i can figure is greece, though i'm not entirely sure." i managed to get out before my egg dropped back down into the mixture i had going.

"Oh, this one is from my brother. he wants to know why they found you restrained and what was with the red fabric?" she asked squinting at her paper. i stood up with my food and looked at the paper. it was like chicken scratch. how could she read this?

"he was a doctor in a previous life, im telling you." she giggled. i smiled unsure of what she ment. was her brother reincarnated from a healer? What did that have to do with his writing?

"well i was restrained because i was taken captive duh. i kept trying to run away and after a while they bound me in that red s**t. all i ever picked up about it was it had something to do with my father. the more i struggled the more the fabric seemed to get tighter. after a while the fabric almost seemed to have a mind of its own. it would twist me and contort me into positions id never would have thought of.it dislocated my joints more times than i could count, broke my bones ect." i shrugged and went back to my cot.

then she paused and kinda glanced briefly at me before returning her eyes back to her paper.

" in your own words, meaning, be as vague or specific as you want, this time, tell me what they did to you." she said. and there it was. the amazing food in my mouth suddenly didn't taste so good any more.

marys pov

i watched as she stopped shoveling food into her mouth. it was a hard question. her fork dropped into the bowl and she ran outside the dungeon and threw up. the guard looked concerned. he looked at me and i motioned for him to go back. he nodded vigorously and stood back by the upstairs exit. sandy came back. she was pale suddenly.

"That's a long, long, looooong, story one ill need one of those recording boxs for. i don't feel like telling it twice." she hid her face from me using her hair.

" im.....immm.......ummmmmm." she stuttered. i could smell the salt threatning to spill from her eyes. she then smiled and they fell .

"im very tired suddenly." she said sadly. she laid down and rolled over.

" im sorry, sandy, i had to ask." i whispered.

" its ok, i have to gather my thoughts. come back with the recording box, ill tell my tale." she whispered back. the smell of salt heavey in the air. her body racked with sobs as i slowly left the cell and shut the door, and looked back at her pressing my forehead against a glove i was given. i hated having to ask but it was necessary. if i could get enough info from her my brother promised me he'd release her. he said he'd even talk to the alpha about keeping her around maybe joining the pack if she wants. i was almost back to the other door when Carl's burst open.

not good. i mean really really not good.

Bear shifters and lycans were the most powerful shifters. which was stronger? well that depended on the lycan, any thing short of the alpha and bears win. lycan alphas are the strongest of all beings. but a bear shifter against a normal lycan, the bear will most likely win. normal bears are very strong, shifters unimaginably so.

" almost an entire week of listening to you two bitches complain back and forth, about everything. eating, not sharing meals, i mean the only thing you guys haven't done to tease me is let me see you naked, im hurt.im gonna tear you apart after i f**k you so raw you loose your ability to scream." he said pointing at me. the guards rushed forward. Carl grabbed 2 by the helms and squeezed, their helmets collapsed and their brains went every where. only one guard left between me and death. then something unexpected happened. Sandy's door flew off the hinges and slammed into the opposite wall.out she came out with a dangerous posture. but she moved with grace. her rage evident on her face. fresh tears were just spilt.

" why don't you pick on someone a little more challenging? I'd say your own size but no ones that freakishly huge." she taunted. Carl reached for her. she smacked his hand away like a child reaching for a forbidden toy and she landed a very good uppercut to his chin. he flew back outside. she snapped her fingers and a purple force field formed around the remaining guard and I, lifting us from the ground.

" I thing Ive had enough of watching you in particular just do what ever you want." she said then an evil looking smile appeared on her face. "fun fact, did you know that village you tore apart, it had a single friend of mine in it. she was young just a little girl who happened to be assigned to bringing me water. i watched as you split her in two with no remorse. now your threatening my only remaining friend." sandy looked back at us.

  Carl got up and snarled then he shifted into a giant honey colored bear.

" Ill never bear witness to that c*****e again. ill never watch you hurt another living thing again!" she screamed.

 he ran full force at sandy, she held up her hand, and he was lifted off the ground. i watched as blue flame started to engulf his body. he let out an ear piercing shriek as his fur burned away and flesh reduced to ash. then the scary thing happened.

Carl's skeleton was still screaming like his soul was on fire. slowly the skeleton turned to ash and all that was left was dust. the flames around the room that i hadn't noticed till now started to recede, and we were lowered back down.

REMARKABLE! not a single thing was singed, well, besides Carl.

the guard was silent the whole time but i could see the look of shear terror on his face. he was in shock. he couldn't have been more than 20 or so.

sandy turned to us her face impassive and she looked tired, she ahd bags under her eyes she previously didnt have. i have to admit i was beyond impressed. she couldnt be an ordinary shifter or... a normal, any thing, for that matter. in all my 19 years id never seem such an impressive display of power and control. and i had met the entire council.

she walked past us, but her eyes never met ours. she walked over to another cell undamaged from the events that just took place. she bowed and held out her hand toward it.

i motioned for the remaining guard to unlock the cell.

"oh hells naw, do it your self," he exlaimed, handing me the keys, he began stripping." i came here on an exchange program to help with college. IT SAID NOTHING IN THE JOB DESCRIPTION ABOUT SUPER POWERED WHAT EVER THE HELL SHE IS." he scremed that last part. he stormed out in nothing but his boxers out towards the woods hand flailing in the air. yelling about how he was lied to.

i picked up the keys and unlocked the cell. sandy went in with no fuss and layed down she looked exhausted from using her powers. i closed the door and started to walk away. but i stopped. somthing didnt feel right just leaving her here after what just transpired.

"come hell, or high water, tomorrow your leaving these cells to come with me to the pack house."

" i told you...."she started i didnt give her the chance to finish that sentece.

"And im telling you, you just saved my life i wont leave you in here to rot like some prisoner. as far as im concerned you have proven yourself just now." i told her a hard look across my face. i wasnt going to take no for an answer. she didnt deserve to be here. she held eye contact with me for what seemed forever. i started to feel like she was searching for somthing. finnaly she sighed and nodded her head. i smiled. and darted out of the room. i had to speak to Sam.

i practicly raced to the car. i was both excited and nervous. i needed my brother to agree to let her loose. just one problem how was i going to get sam to let her go? if i told him what just happened hes not going to have it. im sure hes going to hear about this from the guard.

There was only one way i could make him cooperate.i pulled out my cell phone.

i stared at it for a few moments. nervously i dialed the only number i didnt want to. it rang for what seemed like eternity. i didnt want to call him. it had been so long since i heard his voice. it made my chest tight when i thought about how long it had been since i head his voice. i missed him but i knew it was going to hurt more to hear him and not see him. i didnt care i needed his help.

"hello?" the voice on the other end answered. he knew i wouldnt call unless i needed to.

"alpha, i need your help." i stated. i could hear the panic in his voice as he started to unleash the turrent of questions.

"what is it? are you ok? are you hurt? did someone kidnapp you?" alpha started asking questions a million miles a minuet.

"STOP. please im fine but i need your help with sampson."i heard him let out a sigh of relief.

"what is it?" he asked.

"i need you to tell him our only prisoner is alowed to be free." i said. it was short a sweet but i neeeded him to talk to my brother because i knew if i simply told him what happened he would panic and spin a tale to the alpha about how she was too dangerous to be set free. no matter if she saved my life or not. fact was he didnt trust her.

"what do you mean 'our only prisoner'? i thought we had 2 in that town and the others had been transfered." he stated. i could hear the annoyance in his voice but i had also known him a long time, andi could tell he wasnt annoyed with me.

"yea well, somthing just happend to that male bear we had."i said and waited for his response.

"what happened?" he asked curiosity evident in his voice.i bit my lip and looked around, he wast going to like this.

"he attacked us." i scrunched my face up and held the phone away from my ear in anticipation to his reaction.

"HE WHAT?? WHERE WERE THE GUARDS?? ARE YOU OK??" he practicly yelled.

" im fine but but he killed 2 guards and one quit. i dont want the guard that quit punished he needs to learn a lesson for abandoning his post but after what he witnessed. i cant really blame him. it was...quite spectacular. "

"how did they die?" he asked.

"the bear." i said.

"Well how did the bear die?" he asked hes getting frustrated with my answers. im so lucky hes my mate or he would have simply said no and hung up on me.

"Our last prisoner couldnt watch me be butchered. she....did somthing to him he very, very, very dead." i said. absolute silence on the line. i could hear his gears turning over the phone the tention was palpable even from this distance. my wolf whined. shes been longing to feel the bond between us.

"what did she do to him?" he asked.

"i cant describe it." he was quiet and i then heard shuffling on the other end.

"im on my way home now, ill see about setting her free when i get there." he said.

" No, wait! I need you to do somthing for me. it important and related." i said rushed. i heard him take in a breath, and relese it.

"ok what do you need?" he said knowing i wasnt ready to disclose every thing yet.

"question the alphas you had us take prisoner. aperently, they hold half the puzzle peices. did you get her warning about the seers?" i asked i really hoped he was going to listen to it. she didnt seem to be decieving me. i could see the genuine concern on her face whaen she told me about it, and after what i just witnessed i was sure she was trying to save us a horrifying event. loosing our seer would be devistating. she was an old woman by the name of ruth and her grand daughter was set to take over for her after she reached her 80th birthday in a few months.

"yes, and its absurd, I feel like shes just trying to keep us from digging into her history." he said i heard the growl at the end of his sentence. somthing didnt feel right about thinkng of her as a liar.

"but what if shes telling the truth? i dont want that to happen to ruth if shes right." i asked him. i was met with silence again i heard him sigh again.

"ill ask the council about how to handle that. ill go question the other prisoners and get back with you."

"and our girl?" i asked. i held my breath.

"very well, if she saved you life and you trust her then i will as well. dont let me down." he finally replied.

"i miss you" i whispered before he hung up. half expecting him to not hear me before he hung up.

".....i do as well. you will see us soon i swear it, im almost ready my love." he replied. Anora, my wolf, was exstatic.i hung up the phone.

it had been three long years since our alpha decided to study abroad. he said he wanted to be a better alpha so he could take care of me and the pack. we could tell by the way our wolves acted towards eachother we were mates. but before we could make sure he left 3 days before i hit 16. he claimed it was because he couldnt bear the thought of leaving his mate behind so before his wolf could feel the bond he left claiming it was easier.
