Chapter 10 : Going home together.

1626 Words
The night breeze caressed his face softly, it was a bit cold but Minjun didn’t mind even for a bit. His hair was also ruined by the wind, still he didn’t care. But he cared about those two behind him. They were chatting non stop. Minjun wondered if they would get bored at all. And where did all those topics come from anyway? And the conversations were going like… “You see, that one senior of yours was always insisting on paying for every of our dinners before. It pissed me off.” Chan talked bad right behind ‘that one senior’ so leisurely. Even Jisun was worried about it. “That’s also why I agreed immediately when you asked to join our dinner.” This piqued both Jisun’s and Minjun’s interests. Minjun thought that it was Chan’s idea, inviting Jisun to their dinner. “Why?” The younger asked. “Minjun didn’t like to flaunt his money in front of strangers. So I figured if you join us, then he’d-” Minjun almost nodded at that, it was stopped for the next words he heard. “- be too shy to pay.” He stopped. Chan and Jisun were stopped too. Shy? I’m shy?! When I ever- dammit! Minjun turned around abruptly. “Ya! You think I can’t hear you?!” Jisun’s eyes widened, this was exactly what he was worried about. “You are talking behind my back, if you really wanna talk make it so I can’t hear it. Dammit!” That was all directed to Chan. “And you!” Now he pointed to the poor boy, Jisun. “You stay away from him, he is no good for you. Talkin’ all nonsense.” Then that angry senior turned back and continued to walk, faster this time. Minjun was being childish, he was aware of it, and he regretted it. Really. Jisun was younger than him for god sake! How could he save his face again? Minjun wanted to hide, but it was a dead end. Why? Their way home was in the same direction, that was the reason Minjun met Jisun that one time on the bus. And also any other day after that. Which meant they would use the exact same bus again today! Minjun already thought about this thoroughly, it was impossible if he took a seat far away from Jisun, it would be seen that Minjun was bothered by… whatever it was. Oh no, he couldn’t risk looking unreasonable by the younger. It left him no other choice but to sit together with Jisun. Which was why he tried so hard to think of another way out. Should I just hail a taxi then? His face brightened in an instant. Sounds like a good idea. “It’s a terrible idea.” Minjun snapped his head to the side, where Chan stood. He didn’t mind if Chan could read his mind. “It’s good enough for me.” Minjun said defensively. “No, look here buddy, I will lose all my monthly allowance if this keeps going on.” “What?” “I can’t keep paying for dinner for the three of us in the future!” Now Chan sounded a bit hysterical. Minjun frowned. “You must get closer to Jisun ASAP.” The frown deepened. They were talking about a completely different thing, which was good and bad at the same time. “I love you and your personality okay, but here is the thing Minjun-ah,” Chan forced Minjun to look at him properly. “You can’t turn me into a tribute to accede to your mighty principle!” “What the heck are you talking about?!” Chan wailed at him, he could see his own future. Paying for their dinner regularly, all three, because he couldn’t let Jisun pay for himself. He was the youngest! The funniest part was Minjun wouldn’t pay either! Just because Minjun believed that he shouldn’t freaking brag about his money to strangers! “Nooooo--ffttt!” “You f*****g shut your mouth, will you?!” Minjun covered Chan’s mouth until he was sure that this freak wouldn’t scream nonsense any more. The bothered looks were thrown at them from others who also waited for their bus, and Minjun didn’t want to apologize on Chan's behalf. “You talk more bullshit, I’ll really--” Minjun’s words were cut off by Jisun’s call, saying that his bus was coming. Minjun let Chan go, he forgot his plan to hail a taxi. After collecting himself, Chan said excitedly, “Oh right right, both of you are riding the same bus, right? OK, OK, bonding time, good. hehehe” Minjun needed to find an excuse, s**t. “Uh… actually I can’t take the bus with you today, hyung.” It was Jisun and he brought good news for Minjun. He wanted to smile, he could feel his own facial muscles were aching to move. But Minjun needed to stay polite. “Okay.” Uh, it lacks something…. “Why?” Minjun asked, not really caring about the reason. Good news for Minjun, but bad news for Chan. “Yeah Why? It’s a good opportunity,” Chan whined. The bus is coming, the bus is coming…. Minjun hummed in his mind as the green vehicle came closer. “I need to pick up my brother.” “Oh okay, have fun with your brother. Bye~” Minjun was never this excited about getting on the bus before. “What is he being happy about?” Chan asked when Minjun waved at them through the bus window. - Ms. Jang was exceptionally the most patient teacher and by far the sincerest Minjun had ever met. At least that was how Minjun felt about her. Ms Jang took Minjun in her class even after she knew the sole reason for why Minjun transferred from his previous school in his third year. She embraced Minjun before the whole school figured out who his dad was. Ms. Jang gave Minjun the second chance he needed. “You really haven’t figured it out yet, have you?” Ms. Jang gave him a knowing smile. “Ah….saem~~ mom told me to take it easy. But maybe I took it way too easy.” Minjun answered shyly. Ms. Jang hummed and looked like she was thinking about it too. “I heard that you started to help the activities in the movie club?” Minjun’s eyes widened, “H-how do you know?” Ok, stupid question. Of course she would know, Ms. Jang was his homeroom teacher after all. “I’m not that much of help though…” “Chan told me. Hmm, if you enjoyed your recent club activity, how about Media Art from S University?” Minjun was silent for a really long time, it was actually not a bad idea and he definitely already gave it a thought. While Minjun didn’t have any desire to follow dad’s career path, he was lucky enough no one tried to ‘push’ him on following dad either. Then Minjun jotted down the major that he felt was the safest choice for him which Ms. Jang approved with a small smile. She was really supportive. As soon as he exited the teacher’s room, Chan circled his arm around Minjun. “So which uni is lucky enough to have you?” Minjun rolled his eyes. “I still need to pass the entrance exam.” “Yeah I know. But still they will be over the cloud for having the son of Commissioner General of the country.” Minjun sighed, “You know that it won’t help me in any way. Still need to pass the exam.” “Aish you no fun. But yeah I admire your father.” Minjun raised his brows, this was the first time he heard Chan praised dad. “He didn’t use his connection to umm… y’know make things easier for you.” Minjun laughed so hard, “Sometimes, I wish he’d be like that.” It was a joke, Minjun swore it was a joke. Lucky for him that Chan knew Minjun well enough to not take it as a serious matter. Honestly, Minjun was also grateful that dad never used his ‘power’ to spoil him in any way. Like that one time in junior high school, Minjun was engaged in a fight with a boy. It was his fault, and dad really made him be responsible about it himself. That boy was Chan and now they were best friends. Also, one time Minjun was caught cheating on an exam despite being the youngest in the family, dad was really strict and unwavering towards Minjun if he did wrong. Both mom and dad never tried to cover it up, they pulled Minjun into the spotlight and let him be punished for it. Even though at that time, Dad’s position was not as high as he was right now, Minjun knew by heart that Dad stayed true to his principles to this day. “It would be fun if we attended the same college though.” Minjun agreed, he once wanted to be in the same university as Chan. But once he knew that Chan was aiming to become a police officer, Minjun threw that wish away. “I’ll try Business Management at S Uni.” “The heck? You?!” “What the heck with that reaction?!” “Sorry man, I am your friend, but I gotta tell you the truth.” Chan squeezed his shoulder. “Your brain is not that brilliant.” Chan sprinted off, leaving Minjun gaping and feeling betrayed in the hall. Oh, Minjun would really break that guy’s headphones.
