Chapter 02 : Unexpected Guess

1308 Words
Minjun came into the room full of people throwing papers and laughing. The meeting had yet to start but all the club members were already there. He didn’t feel so good about himself today, he felt like a wreck because of the lack of sleep he got. All thanks to Han Jisun and their unexpected conversation about college. If he thought about it again, actually there was nothing too extravagant about what they were talking about, it was really just a simple discussion, not too heavy either. And that was the problem, the way Minjun was bothered by such nothing-small talk. Why? So, with heavy eyes and a dispirited soul, coming to a literally chaotic room did Minjun dirty in so many aspects. He wanted to scream, turned around and got out of the room. If only that person hadn’t yelled-calling at him from across the room. "Oh hyung! Here!" Jisun greeted him cheerfully, waved his hands and showed Minjun the empty seat beside him so casually, as if it was their second nature to always sit at each other’s side. When, in fact, it was not like that at all. Minjun had never talked to Jisun before. He didn’t even remember ever greeting him. The longest conversation he had with the younger was yesterday on the bus. So Minjun had second thoughts about whether it was a good idea to sit beside Jisun. Even Chan looked a little bit surprised at the unexpected scene in front of him. But because Minjun was a good senior and he didn't want to be rude, he complied and sat beside Jisun. Which resulted in Jisun being all smiley at him while tapping his fingers on the table. Thankfully, the younger didn’t initiate any conversation with him, so Minjun could use his time to adjust his own mood to the situation. Chan was giving him a playful smile before coming back to a pile of papers Sungjae was trying to talk to the leader about. The meeting did not start until the next ten minutes. " OK, there are several things that I want to tell you here." Chan started without any preamble or even stalling anything. "First, we'll have one new member today." The response from the table was accepting and exciting. To be honest, Minjun didn't have any particular reason to react the same as others, so openly. But he wasn't against it either. So, it was an okay reaction, he guessed. The thing was, Chan looked agitated from where Minjun could see and he was curious about the reasons. "I think he'd be late or… but not that late, of course." The leader laughed awkwardly and rubbed his nape. He was definitely nervous, no doubt. "Chan hyung, is it a guy or a girl?" Hanbin asked with hope. "It's a guy. I wonder why not even a girl wants to come close to this room." Chan sighed. "Anyway, you will know when he comes, so we'll save the details for later." It got all kinds of reactions but mostly disappointment. It was a bit of a funny sight though. Even though Minjun was in his third year of high school, it had only been around three months since he was here in Bada high school. So he still couldn't quite grasp any flying or hidden stories among students. Not that he cared though. After all, Minjun would only spend another eight months in this school. He should just focus on his academics right now. "As you already know, we will be joining this short movie competition. You can read the details from the brochure I just gave you. If there are things you can’t get, feel free to ask me or your friends-” Chan pressed his lips into a thin line when he saw a student picking up the brochure from the floor. There was one who unfolded it in a hurry after turning it into a paper plane before. He still tried to continue though, which amazed Minjun, “The thing is we only have less than five months to prepare and make this movie." "So I've divided us into small groups and given each of us some job desks." Helping Chan, Sungjae gave papers to each of the people attending, including Minjun and one more to the empty seat beside him. "Please be considerate to your seniors, okay?" It was unmistakably direct to Minjun as the only third year on the table was him and Chan. "Oh hyung, are we gonna do this together?" The boy beside him suddenly asked, he didn't even wait for Minjun's answer to continue, "hmm camera work? But I never use a camdig. I have clumsy hands. Hyung, do you use a camera?" Minjun hadn't even checked the paper yet and this Jisun kid had already bombarded him with questions. Not only that, Jisun looked so excited about it too. Way too excited for someone who claimed to know nothing about the task assigned to him. Jisun kept on flaunting how he had clumsy hands and how this task was far from what he wanted. He prefered dealing with the music for this project, Jisun said. Forgetting the question he just asked the senior about. Not that Minjun had any intention to answer it. Hearing Jisun talking non stop and so excited about everything like this made Minjun grimace in annoyance but also entertained in amusement. The junior even put his left hand on the back of Minjun’s chair. But despite Jisun's eagerness, Minjun really couldn’t make himself turn the favor equally. The best Minjun could do was only nod here and then, and give out a simple ‘hmm’, which fortunately Jisun was okay with. “... camera man is really a cool job. Like I don’t know how things work, but I’ve seen some cameras with a size that I could never imagine. That must have been weight a lot. While mine,” Jisun stretched out his right hand and tried to show it to Minjun. “Man, what can I lift with this chicken hand?” Minjun couldn’t help but take a quick glance at Jisun. He was a bit curious about just how could the junior say that to himself? Besides, it was not that small either in Minjun’s opinion. Another glance at the said hand, it was… enough. So Minjun took himself to look at the boy on his right, but Jisun was also looking at him. He had never been in an awkward situation before, and even if he did, Minjun really couldn’t care. But now, this was so awkwardly uncomfortable, he really needed to get out of this. Thankfully, Jisun didn’t hold the gaze for too long as he averted his eyes to something behind Minjun. "No worries dude, now that I’m joining the club, you can count on me." It was not Minjun who talked, nor Jisun. But Minjun recognised the voice and he didn’t think it was the voice he wanted to hear, especially now. In addition, Chan’s expression confirmed what Minjun was thinking. The leader looked at him in horror. Now Minjun understood why the f**k Chan kept on glancing at him and gave him that super-full of guilt smile everytime they met eyes. Also the reason for his unreasonable nervousness. Minjun snatched the paper in front of him, it couldn’t be him! He scanned the paper and found the name of someone who he didn’t even want to spell. “You’re Hwang Yunjin?” Jisun asked. He looked surprised. If Minjun wasn’t preoccupied with the sudden anger in his chest, he would also have seen how funny Jisun’s expression was in a split second. “Oh, welcome to the club! We’re in one team!” Jisun cheered excitedly, oblivious of the rage that slowly emerged in Minjun’s eyes.
