An Unrestrained Impulse

On this side, Ye Yuyao abandoned the notion of fleeing through the initial exit, instead hastening to the alley’s opposite end. It opened onto a broad street, sparsely populated, where any direction of escape would render her visible. She tried to reassure herself that she might have gone unnoticed. But as she turned, a tall silhouette emerged at the alley’s other mouth, her heart leaping to her throat. Mu Zihao had pursued her! The time was not yet ripe—she could not afford to be discovered! Her expression hardened. By the roadside ahead, a Rolls-Royce came to a halt. Seizing the moment, Ye Yuyao dashed toward it. As the rear door opened, she dove inside without hesitation, collapsing onto the lap of the backseat passenger. Too frantic to think, she pleaded, “I beg you, let me hide! I mean no harm!” Her words faltered as she beheld the strikingly handsome man before her, a gasp escaping her lips. It was him! Feng Xuhan’s eyes narrowed, regarding the woman who had delivered herself to him. His voice was laced with menace: “What a coincidence.” A chill ran down Ye Yuyao’s spine. With no time for deliberation, she glanced through the rear windshield, spotting Mu Zihao approaching. Desperate, she clapped a hand over the man’s mouth. “Please! Help me, and I’ll leave at once!” Feng Xuhan swiftly seized her slender wrist, reversing their roles. Pinning her to the seat, his towering frame loomed over her, a teasing smirk curling his lips. “This kind of help, perhaps? Hmm?” He hadn’t found her at the hotel last time, yet fate had brought her to him again! Ye Yuyao’s eyes widened in shock, her breath caught. A tall figure paused by the car window. Gritting her teeth, she threw her arms around his neck. In the next instant, her soft, warm lips pressed against his cool ones. Feng Xuhan froze, a fleeting tremor in his chest. The familiar, alluring fragrance at his nose stirred an inexplicable restlessness within him. His body temperature rose, and he closed his eyes, his hand cradling her nape, deepening the kiss with commanding intensity. A crisp, masculine scent invaded her senses, blanking Ye Yuyao’s mind for a moment as their tongues entwined. Their bodies nearly melded, and when she reached to push him away, her hands met the searing heat of his skin through his clothes—and an unmistakable physical reaction. Simultaneously, outside the car, Mu Zihao leaned down, intending to question the occupants. Catching sight of the fervent scene, he averted his gaze awkwardly and stepped away. After a short distance, his expression grew grave. He scanned the surroundings cautiously once more. Yet the graceful figure had vanished as if into thin air, leaving no trace. Irritated, Mu Zihao frowned, retracing his steps while pulling out his phone, dialing swiftly: “Redirect the investigation to domestic leads!” It was too suspicious! From the moment she’d turned to flee, he’d felt certain it was Ye Yuyao! … Inside the car, Feng Xuhan had intended only a fleeting taste, but he teetered on the edge of losing control. As his hand slipped beneath her clothing, Ye Yuyao shuddered, biting his lip fiercely. Snapping back to himself, the smoldering desire in his eyes lingered as he gazed at the woman beneath him, his expression unreadable. For the first time in five years, he felt that same untamed impulse. Ye Yuyao, unnerved by his stare, her eyes wary, turned her face away and snapped, “Get off! I don’t need your help anymore!” Feng Xuhan let out a cold scoff, his gaze catching her flushed right earlobe, adorned with a tiny black mole, rendered oddly endearing against the rosy hue. His throat tightened. Leaning closer, his lips brushed her earlobe, delivering a punitive nip. “Ah…” Ye Yuyao’s body quivered, her face flushing crimson. With a surge of strength, she shoved him away, yanking open the door to flee. Feng Xuhan moved to stop her but, noticing his evident arousal, relented. Instead, he drawled darkly, “Next time I see you, it won’t be so simple.” The implication was clear: another encounter, and he’d have her outright. Ye Yuyao froze, her face burning with indignation, inwardly cursing him as a rogue. Too intimidated to look back, she bolted. Inside the car, Feng Xuhan withdrew his gaze, his fingers tracing his bloodied lip. The image of her furious, exquisite face flashed through his mind, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. Tch, biting when provoked—this woman was truly a wildcat! “Young Master Feng, that woman has two children.” Abruptly, Ren Xu’s voice broke the silence from the driver’s seat. Feng Xuhan’s eyes sharpened, a cold glance piercing him. “What? Are you dictating my actions now?” Ren Xu’s spine stiffened, and he replied deferentially, “I wouldn’t dare.” He only meant to caution him, to avoid unnecessary entanglements. Yet that woman—why did she seem familiar? Was it a trick of the mind? … Elsewhere, Ye Yuyao donned a mask and called Chen Yuan, informing him she’d left due to an urgent matter, leaving him to handle Xie Yuhan. For safety, she hailed a taxi straight back to her hotel. Mu Zihao might suspect her—she couldn’t linger outside! Back in her room, she contacted the real estate agent, arranging to complete the house viewing online that afternoon. By evening, the children were returned from daycare. Ye Yuyao was finalizing a contract with the agent’s representative. After seeing the agent off, she turned, beaming at the little ones: “My darlings, Mommy has found a house! We can move in tomorrow!” To elude Mu Zihao’s pursuit to the hotel, she needed to relocate the children swiftly. Ye Qingqing’s eyes curved with delight, cheering, “Yay! I want to share a room with Mommy!” “Of course.” Ye Yuyao knelt, fondly patting her head. “Did you have fun at daycare today?” Ye Qingqing nestled into her arms. “So much fun!” Ye Yiheng, having swapped back with Feng Yilin, approached with a solemn expression. Ye Yuyao moved to embrace him, but the boy suddenly asked, “Mommy, did you only give birth to me and my sister?” The question carried weight. Ye Yuyao faltered, a flicker of sorrow in her eyes, though her tone remained gentle: “Yes, darling, why do you ask?” In truth, Ye Qingqing was the second-born, Ye Yiheng the youngest. The eldest, lost at birth, was a lingering regret she shielded from her children to spare them pain. Ye Yiheng shook his head, his childish voice soft: “Just curious.” It must be a coincidence! He resolved not to tell Mommy about Feng Yilin, lest she encounter that scoundrel of a father. The next day, Ye Yuyao moved with the children to a quaint two-story villa near the suburbs. Though modest, it sufficed for her and the two little ones. Fully furnished and serene, it was an ideal find on short notice, and Ye Yuyao felt content. After settling the children, she received a message from Chen Yuan, reminding her of tomorrow’s interview with the Feng Corporation.
