Phoenix POV
I manage to duck out on Caspian for the rest of the week, and informed Merle I wouldn't be in for my shifts that week either.
I had too much on, this year had started the year with a kick up the ass, so much homework!
Despite my good grades last year, I wasn't free of struggles with this years subjects and chapters, but with a few late nights I was 6 weeks ahead, to give myself some slack.
I needed to go to work this week starting thursday night.
It was Tuesday today so, I headed to class at normal starting with P.E, Tye had got his car back but I'd declined his offer to drive me to work yesterday, in case his car got 'stolen' again.
Something had been fishy about that, and I had feeling it could only be one of two people involved.
The first the better ideal of the two was Caspian, not wanting to share his friend, but maybe also to back me in a corner to talk.
It wouldn't be a stretch after another 4 concidental encounters since the lunch 'date' last week.
Getting off the bus, I headed straight for the change rooms of the gym, rounding the corner, I notice Dylan and Caspian leaning against the wall chatting.
Both nod as I pass, Dylan with a look of annoyance and Caspian with his normal unfaze expression that hid his thoughts.
I was changed and hair pinned up before the 1st bell, so I headed into the gym and up to the treadmill and weights room above the basketball courts.
No one had arrived yet thankfully and I sat on the exercise bike, browsing through my phone as I waited.
The door opened a few minutes later, the sounds of change room chatter filtering up through the door way.
I glanced to see Caspian entering, he offered a nod, but seemed stiffer then usuals he passed me.
I swiveled to follow where he went to the other end of the room, he started lifting dumbells, I caught his eye and he mouth turned up ever so slightly, offering me a wink.
I rolled my eyes and looked away, instead getting into my exercise, our classmates filtered in one after another doing various things. the girls soon flirted close to the boys doing their weights and bench presses, picking up skipping ropes or toning weights of their own.
Finally I went to swap halfway through the double only to stand and stumble of trembling legs. An arm caught me from ending up on the ground, a sense of deja vu eveloped me.
"Thanks T-" the name caught on my tounge, as I beheld Caspian's gaze, "Casper.." I finished.
He stony gaze softened a second, before he help me back on my feet.
"You all good?" He asked.
I nodded, He dropped his arm from behind my back, and heading towards the door.
I followed heading for the change rooms whilst he headed for the courts, I needed to sit down for 5 and then shower.
Then just has I watched him walk through the door up the hall, when I realized my mistake, I'd called him Casper for a second time.
Caspian POV
Goodamn it.
Hearing her call my Casper sent my mood into a high, after a shitty nights sleep, I now felt fully refreshed.
Her vunarable look set my heart thumping, although I thought she almost called my Tye, glad she didn't.
I shook away the thought grabbing a basketball, I started throwing some hoops when I heard some whispering behind me, and lost focus for a second.
"f**k I missed!" I grumbled.
"Excuse me..Caspian." spoke a small voice behind me, I stiffened turning to face them, looking down to blushing girls stood there both were easy on the eye, but not my type.
"What?" I asked, my tone sounding cold and sharp, they fliched and looked at each other with wariness.
Finally the brunette step forward standing a little taller.
"Umm we saw you with Phoenix just now, and thought you might be in a good mood..." She began, my mood souring further, I did not want to be labeled approchable after one incident. "So would you go out with me to the movies maybe?" She asked finishing barely louder then a whisper.
"Nup, not a chance." I replied and swivelled on my heel, picking up the basketball, I headed pass the girls towards the change rooms, chucking the ball back in the rack.
Phoenix POV
I sat with the girls all lunch, we talk about new movies out and favourite songs whilst eating the crappy canteen noodles.
At least I'd managed to get a vanilla coke before they all sold out.
Once we finished eating we'd just chucked our rubbish in the bin, when someone came up behind me and covered my eyes.
"Guess who?" Tye asked in my ear, I chuckled.
"An idiot." I reply.
"Wrong!" He replyed before adding. "A handsome idiot." I pulled he's hands from my eyes with a smile, tunring around, I found he was not alone.
Dylan and Caspain as well as few others I didn't know stood behind him.
"Hey guys." I managed to stutter, Tye ruffled my hair causing me to glare at him.
"Soooo Cute!" He grinned down at me.
"Stop it." I ground out, he did shoving his hands in his pockets, instead looking to the girls behind me as I fixed my hair, then let him self be lead by the arm as Stella pulled him to meet some of the other girls.
I started to follow when I was flanked either side by Caspian and Dylan.
"What do you have last?" Caspian asked, I scatched my ear absent mindly thinking about Tye's teasing.
"I've got Math's I think." I replied before looking at Dylan.
"What are you guys doing here anyway?" I asked him coldly, he met my gaze with a narrow gaze of his own.
"Looking for girls to perv on." He replied before adding, "Cute Polite ones." I snorted.
"You mean shallow, follow you to the ends of the earth, with their legs open ones?" I asked with a snarl, everyone knew Dylan like to root and boot, breaking many a heart with his boyband vibe, eww.
"yeah something like that." He smirk, looking sleezy, I sneered at him.
"You wanna hang out tonight?" Caspian asked, breaking the silence.
I turn to look at him, his eyes were forward and he looked bored like he wasn't really expecting an answer, no wonder people called him cold and distant.
"Nah I'm good." I replied, watching the girl fawning over Tye as he looked back mouthing 'help me' pulling a smile onto my face.
"How about a ride home?" Caspian tried again, I shook my head.
"I might be busy after schoool later this week." he pressed, I look at him again, he slid his eyes to me as we walked, his expression giving nothing away.
"Same here, but I'm good, really." I replied, he merely nodded then.
The bell rang and the girls collectively grumbled as they each headed their own way, I waved as Tye and Stella, went ahead of me, at my gesture.
I stopped, deciding to speak out loud, but looking at neither Dylan or Caspian.
"Look our worlds are seprate, lets not crush them together in hopes they fit boys." I say, pausing whilst waiting for a response.
"I'd rather not anyway thanks." Grumbled Dylan.
"Tye more your type?" Caspian remarked coldly, I scoffed shaking my head.
"If you prefer to think that way, sure." I answered walking a few steps, I paused turning around, I met Caspians gaze."I can't read you day to day, But I'm not your play thing nor flavour of the week." I flick my eyes to Dylan who looks away guiltly. "But your futures brighter then mine, so lets not force paths together after today." I smiled a toothy grin devoid of emotion.
Then turned and jogged towards B building, hands in my jacket pockets.
Leaving both guys standing there.
Caspian POV
I watched Phoenix jog away from us.
I couldn't move, If I hadn't push more then usual and hadn't made one petty comment.
"f**k sake." I snarled, storming towards the car park.
"Hey!" Dylan called out behind me.
I didn't stop but heard him chase me regardless.
"Hey Cas Stop! Cas!" he grabbed my arm, pulling me to a stop, I let him, but didn't meet his eyes.
"Whats up with her? Why couldn't you just pick an easy girl? huh?" He asked, forcing a laugh, that came out hollow.
I looked down at him, not knowing what drew me to her myself, so just lifted a shoulder in a poor attempt at a shrug.
"Is it because you both have weird-ass names?" He joked, my mouth lifted at the corner, and I released a heavy breath before replying.
"Yeah maybe thats it." I anwsered him.
"Well Jetta's a pretty Uncommon name too?" he tried, but stopped as my wall went back up and my eyes turned cold.
"Ok ok! Sorry! Just stay for last period and then we'll head to '24' for a game of pool huh?" He offered, I looked at him for a moment and then sighed.
"Your shout." I said, Dylan nodded, smacking my back in confirmation..
"Fine my shout." He agreed.
We headed back towards the school, both having history last.
