Lunansholt: The tale of the beginning of the wolves

CH 24 Aslaug's First Day

Aslaug wakes up before Leif, so she lay there thinking of her life since coming to this pack. Specifically, thinking back on her first day here when she first met Leif and the day after when she researched him and determining if he was worthy of her.

~FLASHBACK~

"Dagny I am going out for a bit. If you need anything while I’m out just mindlink me!" Dagny waves her off. Aslaug walks to the market in the center of the pack and pretends to look at clothes and linens while listening to the gossip. At first it's just little things about family drama, work drama, and little disputes between a merchant and a few customers until she hears Leif's name and she moves to a stall selling jewelry to get closer. She hears a woman talking about Astra and how close she is to getting Leif to mate with her. "Astra is so lucky." The girl picks up a ring sliding it onto her finger then scrunches her face in revulsion quickly putting it back down and looks at her friend, "I mean if she plays her cards right she will be Luna. I would love to be Luna." The other friend scoffs "I could never mate with the human. I mean sure he's pretty hot, but my wolf would never let me mate with anyone weaker than us." The other girl slaps her friend lightly on her arm and they both laugh. The girls move away talking about Astra and how they're lucky to have met her and how beautiful she is when Aslaug loses interest. She looks at another ring, and the design reminds her of her mother’s, so she decides to buy it for Dagny. She hands over the coins and pockets the ring as she turns trying to find where to move to next.

"I haven't seen you before" Aslaug turns around and sees a plain looking man with an extended belly eyeing her lustfully. Aslaug rolls her eyes at him, "I just got here to help my sister birth her pup" she looks at him again "and I am mated already." She turns to leave and he grabs her hand to stop her, she looks down at his hand on hers in disgust and using two fingers pulls his hand off hers then drops it callously. She turns to him irritated now and he smiles at her trying to hide his irritation but failing, "I don't see a mating mark on you." She scoffs, "Do you normally corner women and continue to harass them even after they say they aren't interested." He continues smiling though she noticed a small twitch in the corner of his mouth now, "I don't remember you saying you weren't interested. You say you're mated but there's no mating mark." She rolls her eyes again, "Okay then. I'm not interested. Clear enough for you?" His smile drops and he looks at her in anger, "You don't have to be a b***h about it. You're lucky I even gave you my attention at all for someone who clearly is lacking in looks." Aslaug eyes him up and down and starts laughing walking a couple steps away then turns around looks at him and starts laughing all over again. She did that until he was no longer in sight then she dropped her smile and spoke to Hvitr in her mind, "This pack needs help."

Hvitr nods in her mind, "We will have to speak with our mate about the people here in this pack." Aslaug lets doubt seep in, "What if he is just like them?" Hvitr laughs at that, "I know we have only just met our mate but I can guarantee that neither Leif nor Skuggi are like that. They will cleanse this pack once they realize what evil lives within it." Aslaug nods then asks her, "What do we do about this Astra? I'll be damned if I will let her get away with what she is planning." Hvitr sits back and c***s her head to the side as she thinks. "Let's go to Dagny and see what she can tell us." Aslaug nods and heads back to her sister's hut.

Dagny is sitting on the porch with her eyes closed and her face scrunched up in pain looking uncomfortable and Aslaug smiles at her in understanding as she walks up. "Dagny, what are you doing out here?" Dagny opens her eyes and looks up, "Ah Aslaug I came out for some fresh air and got stuck. Can you help me up please? I need to get started with dinner or we will be stuck eating at the longhouse again tonight." Aslaug laughs holds out a hand for her and helps her inside. "I like the food at the longhouse. It led me to meeting my mate last night." Dagny smiles at her sister, "What a good-looking mate he is too." Aslaug asks her, "Do you know my mate?" Dagny smiles and nods, "Not very well but I’ve seen him around. He's the adopted son of Harald. A good man from what I’ve seen though he is treated very poorly by almost everyone in this pack because he is wolfless. The warrior Astra seems to fancy him though I think it's just so she can be Luna. She is a nasty woman and likes to boast to everyone around her that she will be Luna one day so everyone should be nice to her or they will be punished." Aslaug nods and moves to help Dagny with dinner.

"Have you heard anything about her claiming to be the next Luna?" Dagny looks up from chopping vegetables and c***s her head, "I have heard her little followers talking about how she plans on tricking Leif into mating with her and they know he will because no one else will give him the time of day except for a few thralls.' Aslaug looks up, "They talk about it in the open like that?" Dagny laughs "Astra is not very bright and she's the smartest one out of all her followers." Aslaug nods, "So no real competition there then." Dagny laughs even harder, "Astra may be the prettiest girl in the pack" she looks at Aslaug's face and coughs, "Well, she was before you got here. Anyways she may be pretty but inside she is rotten. She'll do anything to get what she wants, and I mean anything if you know what I mean." Aslaug nods and scoffs, "So she's no virgin. What does she expect will happen on her mating night when they see no blood on the sheets?" Dagny shrugs, "Don't know but based on what some women have done on their mating nights she will likely prick her leg to make it seem like she was pure." Aslaug shrugs, "Ah well if she thinks I’ll be giving my mate to her without a fight she’s got another thing coming."

~End of Flashback~

Leif starts to stir when Aslaug moves her head back on to his chest. She looks outside seeing the dark sky starting to light. She sighs kissing Leif's chest to try to wake him and she's rewarded with a small tent appearing in his shorts and she laughs.

"These next five days can't go by fast enough. I'm ready to be fully mated and taming my little mate beneath me already." Aslaug blushes at the eagerness in his voice and at the sexy sleepy tone he spoke in, "Soon my love. First, let's get ready I have a she-wolf to humiliate in front of the entire pack today."
