Arrow Shield?

In the night, Sian sat before her computer with her mouth agape in amazement. She had only started writing Arrow Shield yet she had a million likes already. She scrolled down to the comment section reading silently all the comments. She paused relaxing on the chair. She couldn't believe it. "Its happening dad, your one true dream... I wish you were here to see this." She muttered and stared back at her laptop smiling. In the morning, Sian walked into the school only to see Leah coming down from a car. "Leah!" Sian immediately called as soon as she was about to head inside the school and Leah turned back. "Hey..." Leah spoke short of words. "I never got the chance to apologise for involving you in my fight with Jackson. I never planned that to happen. So, I'm sorry." Leah said and Sian pressed her lips together. "Its fine if you decide to stay away, I get that all the time anyway." Leah said and continued walking further. Sian sighed heavily running after her. "What did you do to Jackson?" Sian asked. "Just played some pranks on him. We were never friends from the beginning. He thought he could make a hell out of me just because I am a girl." Leah responded. "I'd have to prove him wrong a number of times." She said. "And by proving him wrong, you mean electrocution?" Sian asked and Leah shrugged. "Makes it more fun." Leah said and Sian shone her eyes. "I'm just joking." Leah said and chuckled. "You look like you have already seen a murderer." Leah said and Sian scoffed. "If you know people think badly about you, maybe you should think of changing a little bit." Sian spoke. "I don't care what people think. I don't care about anything." She said and Sian shrugged. Leaving her company, she walked to drop her stuffs in her locker. Checking her time, she felt she needed some time alone. So, she found her way to the rooftop. She took a deep breath relaxing on the wall and she shut her eyes for some seconds. In the few minutes, she began to hear voices as some memories flashed in her head. "Dad?" Her kid self called as she stared at her hands that were shaking seriously with blood all over on her hands. "Why are my hands stained with blood?" She asked full of trepidation. She stared up at her father who also had blood stained on his shirt. She noticed her dad's gaze was behind her. Just as she turned to see who it was, Sian's eyes opened. She rubbed her hair wondering why she had that kind of short vision. Suddenly, she heard noise from the stairs. She paused. Already cautious, she looked around and could only find a rod by the wall. She immediately took it, holding it tightly and she peeped through the door only to see Drake. She froze as he stared at her and down to what she held. "Did you actually plan to hit me with that?" He questioned and she stared at what she was holding as though she wasn't the one holding it, then she threw it on the floor. "Just didn't expect anyone to walk in here." She said as he stepped into the rooftop. "Well, you're not the only one who needs some peace." He said. He leaned towards the end of the rooftop, staring downwards at the school compound. Sian turned to leave but paused. "Um..." She began and swallowed hard. "I never got the chance to thank you for helping me back then when I was with Jackson. I never expected you to." She said. "You also helped me when I had a panic attack. So its a win, win." He said and he brought out her necklace from his pocket. "By any chance is this yours?" He asked and she walked closer to him. "I've been looking for this... How did you get it?" She asked taking it from him. "Found it on the street. Thought it might be yours cause I had seen it on your neck when you were with Jackson." He said and she paused. "You found it on that same day?" "Yeah...." He said and she went quiet. It was then she realized that her encounter with the little girl that disappeared and appeared right before her was real. It actually happened. As she fell from the bicycle, it must have been when the necklace fell off, she thought. "Is something wrong?" He asked and she stared at him and immediately shook her head. "Its nothing. Thanks for bringing this back, it means a lot." She said and he rose his eyebrows. "If its so special, that means someone gave it to you." He said and she nodded. "My father. I was still so little, I can't really remember what really happened that made him give me this but I treasure it with my life." She said and he nodded. "Maybe you should try not losing it next time." He said and she leaned on the wall beside him. "I know its a little weird, but do you believe supernatural things exist? Like something paranormal." She asked and he paused. "All my life has been paranormal." He said and chuckled. "Well, I will say the same thing for myself. Lot of strange things happen lately. That day when I was coming home, I saw a little girl, she had this weird look on her face and she continued staring at me. What got me more shocked was when she appeared in front of me, thought it was a dream but... I don't know anymore." She said and he stared at her, then she sighed. "Oh, what am I saying? You won't believe it anyway." "I think I do." He answered and she stared at him. "Seriously? I can't even believe myself." "Then don't. It's more easier pretending like you never saw anything sometimes than to end up hurting yourself." He said looking at the empty space. "It seems like you've done that a lot. Turning a blind eye, pretending like you're invincible because there's really nothing you can do about the situation." She said and smiled. "Its easier doing that but most times it does harm and you begin to regret and think maybe you should have done something." She said and he turned back to her. Immediately the bell rang. "It's time for class." She said and smiled, leaving. Getting downstairs, she met Glen. "Hey girl, I've been looking everywhere for you. C'mon, let's go to class." Glen said and they both walked to the class. Meanwhile Casey sighted Drake coming down the stairs and she rushed to him. "I thought something happened to you. You okay?" She asked and he nodded. "You don't always have to worry about me Casey. I'm fine." He said walking past her and she followed him. "You can't control yourself yet, I was just worried that...." "I said I am fine Casey, as you can see." He said and left. He couldn't understand why he was angry but at that point he just felt all they ever did was worry about the one thing he couldn't do and he knew there wasn't any chance for him to be able to prove them all wrong. He sighed heavily walking into the class and everyone paused turning back. "Sorry I'm late." He said to the teacher who was already teaching. With his eyes meeting with Sian's, he walked to his seat. Glen sat in the library typing on her laptop. Do mysterious beings exist? She searched scrolling down as she read the result. She knew no one believed her but she wasn't willing to give up. She was sure she saw it with her eyes and she had to find out what that was and prove everyone wrong. "Hey...." Sian immediately sat beside her and she hurriedly closed her laptop. "You scared the hell out of me." Glen spoke. "Am I interrupting something?" Sian asked and Leah who was sitting opposite them brought down the book which she used to cover her face. "Do you think you guys can keep it low? This is a library." Leah spoke and Glen chuckled. "Oh well, can you look at that. The witty girl is reading a book." Glen mocked and Leah rolled her eyes dropping the book. "I never said I was reading, I was just staring at the pictures." Leah said and Sian scoffed. "Do you guys know each other?" Sian asked and Glen shrugged. "We talk once in a while. We were both involved in the biggest prank in the school. We pranked the principal." Glen said and Sian's eyes shone. "Ever since then, Mr Gabe made sure he always kept an eye on us." Glen said and Leah smirked dragging her chair closer which made a loud noise, turning everybody's attention to them. "What?" Leah questioned at them as they all gazed at her and they all immediately turned back to what they were doing. Sian hit her hand on her forehead helplessly. She was trying to run away from Leah, not knowing she just encamped herself in their midst. "We were real buddies back then." Leah said. "Can you remember when we pranked Jasper? He thought he could run away, yet he got stuck in the mud and in the end he got blamed for everything." Glen said and Leah nodded laughing softly. "Yeah, that was my best prank ever." "Um, I feel like I'm interrupting a touching moment, but am I only one that feels this is weird." "Oh forget it Sian. Being depressed made me do a lot of stuffs with this lady over here that were crazily funny." Glen said and Leah stared at her. "You think depression made you do that? That was you being you. Nothing can change that." Leah said and Glen rolled her eyes. "Okay, okay that's enough already. Its making me sick." Sian said. "What separated you both then?" Sian asked and Leah shrugged. "I discovered she wasn't a good influence on me." Leah said and Glen scoffed. "You kidding? Its actually the other way round. I decided I wanted to be different from how I was." Glen said. "Just because she found a boyfriend." Leah mocked. "Well, how did that turn out?" Leah questioned. "It turned out good." Sian replied and Leah chuckled. "You wish. You only got yourself in a more difficult situation. It's so pathetic that I can't just look away. This time its you pranking yourself and its fun watching." "Oh you think so. Why don't you recount how pathetic you are too. No one wants to hang around you." "Not like I care." Leah said. "What the heck is wrong with the both of you? I said that's enough." Sian said. "Yeah, that's enough Leah." Glen retorted. Immediately Leah's phone beeped and Sian got to capture what she was staring at on her phone. "Is that?...." Sian spoke almost in shock. "Arrow Shield." Leah completed. "I have been reading this right from the first day it got uploaded. You read it too?" Leah asked and Sian nodded. "Yeah. I mean, yes I have." "The way you're feeling now is how I felt when I read this book. Knowing that millions will be affected by this is worth loving it. The entire school is reading this. I mean that's why so many people come to the library recently." Leah said and Sian looked around only to see that the students weren't actually reading but they were using the books to cover their phone which they used to read Arrow Shield. "I've been following each and every episode. Every other person is interested in knowing who the writer is but I don't care about that because this is great. Playing anonymous and all that is the best to protect himself." Leah said and smiled and Glen stared at the both of them. "What's going on here?" Glen asked. "Of course. As always you are so ignorant of everything but I will fill you in. There's a story every single person out there seems to be reading now. It was uploaded online some days ago and has gained million views. The name is Arrow Shield but the thing is no one knows the writer of this book because the person is playing behind the scene, so everyone is freaking out to find out who it is." Leah spoke and Glen hurriedly searched it out on her phone only to glance through it. "It's... It's the mystical beings." Glen muttered and they stared at her confused. Drake walked by the hallway hurriedly. He was seated in the class when he felt he heard something familiar. It was Sian's voice and someone else's voice he couldn't recognize, and at that moment he was trying to focus and locate where she was. He knew he had no problem in locating where she was because his feet always led him to her. The only part of their discussion he had heard was the part where they called the name. It rang over and over again in his head that he didn't know when he started muttering the words. "Arrow Shield. Arrow Shield...." "Drake." He immediately heard a call and he got distracted. "Not the right time Stephanie." He spoke. "I was just curious to know, you are in our team right?" Stephanie asked with alluring eyes. "If you have nothing more important to say, I have something to do." He said about to walk out when she held him. "If it weren't important, I wouldn't have come to you. It's not just me, so many of us are dying to know." Stephanie said and he turned to stare at her so called side kicks standing at a corner and watching. "Stephanie...." He immediately paused amidst his words as his eyes caught on the page she was, on her phone. He held her hands to have a closer look. This brought little shrieks from the girls who watched considering how he held her hands and Stephanie herself wasn't excluded. "Arrow Shield." He read glancing through it. "What is this?" He asked. "Its a story uploaded by an anonymous writer. Its everywhere... #anonymous writer." She spoke in her usual sassy way and Drake felt his heart thump. Who would have released a story of the arrow and shields? He thought and hurriedly walked out ignoring her desperate manner of seeking his attention. Just as he walked some steps away, he met Jamie and Casey who also looked like they were looking for him. "Did you..." Jamie began. "The Arrow Shield. Yes, I saw it." Drake said and he stared around. "Let's find a more secluded place and talk. C'mon." He said and the three of them hurriedly walked out. School was over. Sian, Leah and Glen walked out together. "I hate weekends." Leah muttered and Sian stared at her. Immediately she saw her car drive in. "I have to go now." Leah said and hurried out to the car to avoid any form of questions. "She gets complicated like a puzzle sometimes but that's the most hideous part of her that attracted me the most." Glen said and Sian just continued staring until the car rode out of sight. "Bye." Sian spoke climbing just as they walked to where she parked her bicycle and Glen waved to her and just as Sian rode out, a car rode before Glen. Not expecting anyone to pick her, she was about to walk past when the car door opened and the least person she expected came down. "Jeremy?" She called and he smiled. "Surprise..." He spoke and she rolled her eyes. "I never remember mentioning that you should pick me up." Glen said. "I just returned from the airport and I thought of giving you a surprise Glen. At least I thought you will be happy." He said and she smiled forcefully. "I am. At least I don't get to walk back home today." She said and got into the car while he sighed heavily also getting in. Glen rode her bicycle before a house and hurriedly pressed the door bell and the door immediately opened revealing a woman who smiled on seeing her. "Hi Mrs Anabel." "Hi Glen. Come in." She said and she walked inside. "Henry is in his room, he just got back." Anabel directed and Glen rushed upstairs and she knocked on the door. "Henry." She called and the door opened revealing Henry who smiled. "I need to show you something." She said walking inside and he closed the door. "Must be something important." He said and she sat before his computer. "Remember what I told you about the mystical being that almost killed me that night?" She asked opening the story page and he sighed. "Are we still on that? Look Glen, I don't want it to look like I don't believe you, but I think at this moment you need a rest. Your mind is just playing a trick on you." He said and turned her chair to face him. "Stuffs like that doesn't exist. They can never exist." He stressed out to make sure that she saw the truth. "Then how do you explain this?" She asked facing the laptop to him and he stared at it. "Arrow Shield?" "Few days after coming across such a being, I see a story about this same being. They call them arrows and its not just them, the guy who saved me, the one I didn't get to see his face, they call them shields. They exist to protect us from the arrows." She said and he shook his head after glancing through it. "This is too hard to believe." He said. "I know but you have to trust me. I saw it, this so called arrows and the shields exists." She said and he stared intently at her. "So what are you going to do about it even if they do exist." "No one is going to believe such beings exist even if I tell them. So, we have to find this anonymous writer, whoever it may be. If not, you never know who is going to be at risk of this deadly creature. It might happen again to me or anyone else we love." She said and he bit his lip rubbing his hair perplexed, then he stared at her. "What do I have to do?" He asked she held his hand smiling. "Thank you." She spoke and he nodded. "No matter what it is, I don't what you getting hurt." He said and she took a deep breath as the picture of what happened that night flashed through her mind, she just hoped she never had to witness such again. "We first have to track the writer of this story. This person might be a witness who can also help us." She said. "Or might be an arrow or a shield." He said and she shrugged. "Its a start Henry." She said and he nodded. "If this beings actually exist, it means its not just you who have come across them, but just like you, the witnesses wouldn't also have been believed. We can also find such people, we pick up from any left over information. Your dad is a police, you could get some informations from there too." He said and she smiled nodding. "Let's do this partner." She spoke. Emily walked hurriedly into the investigation room with Devon where Tavern and some other shields like Casey and Jamie were already seated. "How can a story of the arrows and shields leak out?” Emily asked. "The source of this information is hidden but millions of people have already viewed this. Erasing it out totally would be suspicious." Seth spoke. "The arrows are in hiding and they cannot risk being exposed. Its most definite that this didn't come from. them." Tavern added. "It only means there is a spy in here or someone out there has caught up with the truth." Devon spoke. "It was only a matter of time, I knew a day like this would come but this isn't the concern, the major concern is the people. If the whole population finds out that this is real, they will feel threatened and things might get out of control. We have to make sure this dies as quickly as it spread. Seth, organise your squad and track the source of this. I need answers as soon as possible. We must silence this silent uproar that threatens to make our hard work go futile." She spoke and they hurriedly marched out to carry out the order ***
