Sapphire's POV
Yeah my life sucks. After a year my mother, his true mate's death, my father remarried another she-wolf who had a daughter of her own from her dead mate. At that age, I hated him changing his heart, I hated him since one day he took that woman home and let me call her "mother". I still remembered the first sentence that woman who owned a face of hypocrisy said to me.
"Oh my little Sapphire, from now on I am your mom now. Be a good girl sweetheart." Megan Crawford grabbed my face said evilly. Form that day on, my life changed. She and her daughter made my life a living hell.
Now I'm 18, I didn't blame my father anymore. I knew that as an Alpha, he and even our pack really needed a female leader under the situation that our pack was getting weaker without Luna. Now I just hoped he could spend more time with his own daughter, adding a little more attention to his baby girl who was bullied and insulted every day. I tried to tell him, but Megan would act weak and make up a lie and get him to kick me out of the pack because as his new mate he would believe her over me. So all I do was silently hold back my emotions.
I sighed and smiled helplessly, touching the sapphire necklace around my neck. I hadn't taken it off once in 11 years. The leather string is now tattered and old. I take comfort in the thought that this necklace used be around the neck of my boy, Blade, which was the last thing that support and console me now.
"Just the damn cookies? Oh, make us something better for lunch dearest. Julia needs nutrient." Megan turned to walk away, but looked over her shoulder and looked at me with a cruel smirk, "Oh and do clean up your mess dear, and while you're at it, clean yourself up, you look and smell like shits."
She turned back to continue walking with Julia's giggling.
I took a deep breath and rolled my eyes. I cleaned the mess, trying to take out the rubbish.
My wolf Amber howled as I walked outside, howling to come out to run. Actually I hadn't shifted for many days. I looked at the forest that was not far away from our pack house, and decided to let Amber have a release.
I shifted into the wolf, a white wolf who owned the alpha blood. I run through the thick trees and my thoughts wander to a waterfall. But not just any waterfall. That was the place I met the one boy who I fell in love with.
A twig snapped me out of my thoughts. I stood still and looked around. There was no one. I feel my wolf started to be alert. But I found nothing.
I ran a little further into the forest, sniffing the air for a scent. Then it hit me. Wolves. But not ours. I looked deeper, and with my wolf vision, I could see some dark figure running towards my pack. Then I realized, if they were heading towards my pack, which was only for one thing. Attack.
'ROGUE ATTACK! SAP RUN!' My wolf shouted. I quickly turned around and intended to return but a familiar figure stopped me.
Julia Crawford.
"Well well look what I have here, my little sister." She came with a fierce expression not like ever before.
I had to shift into the human form and talked to her.
"Julia, it's not time to mess around. Our pack is under rogue attack! We need to come back now!" I told her hurriedly and hoped she could come with me.
"Yeah I know, and I am the one who back to help them, but not you, an alpha's daughter who is gonna die during the rogue attack." Julia smirked cruelly.
"Wh-what do you mean?" My wolf sensed danger as I stepped back.
"I mean, after today, I'll be the only daughter of father, and the future female Alpha. So… I need you gone...permanently." She shifted and threw myself on the ground before I could shift.
I felt Julia's claw scratched my cheek. Her bites rain down on my torso as well.
In fact, with the pure alpha's blood, I could win her but years of starvation and lack of training made me unhealthily thin.
CRACK!
"Ahhhh!" I scream out in pain. She broke my ribs. I curled into a ball, hoping to shield myself a little from her violence. I was weak right now. I had no energy left. I tried to ignore the pain, but it was too painful. I howled in agony as she continued her beating.
Suddenly, she stopped clawing me and the weight of her left. I rolled onto her side, trying to see what was happening. My eyes widened at the sight. Before me, standing in a protective stance, was a large wolf. His fur was a beautiful mix of white and grey. I saw Julia howled terrified and ran away quickly.
Lying on the ground, I was panting for the pain and my head felt dizzy. I tried to look the one who saved me and had shifted into human. And when I finally saw his face clearly, that pair of Caribbean blue eyes, a sense of familiar came to me but I couldn't tell.
"Wh-who are you?" I tried to ask him with my last strength.
And before everything turned black, I heard a deep voice echoed around my ear.
"Mate", the word I had been waiting for 11 years.
