THE POWER OF DESTINY

"Take me to Velvet restaurant " Emmy said closing the taxi's door . '' Drive faster please sir , i have an interview in the next few minutes ," she added. Emmy had relocated from her village to the city after she has graduated as a caregiver. Since she graduated she has been looking for a job but ended up getting none. Today she was called for an interview she didn't want to miss it. The interview went on well and she successfully got the job . She took out her phone from her bag , dialed a number and called ," Hello mommy , I got the job , the salary is good and i have been given a fee accomodation though i am living with another roommate ," she said happily. " Welcome, my name is Amelia ," she said stretching her hand to greet her. " Thank you, i guess you are my roommate, well i'm Emma ," she said shaking her hand . " Let me help you with that, you don't know how bored i have been in this house ," Amelia said leading the way to the bedroom. The house had one big living room with one set of sofas . In the middle was a television of about 32 inch . Just at rhe corner was the kitchen and one corridor leading to the bedroom. The bed measured 6 by 6 and was neatly covered with a sky blue bedsheet and matching pillow case . " So how long have you been working here ," Emmy asked unpacking her cloths arranging them in a closet . " Well , lets say 6 years now . Mr Anthony owns the Restaurant , he is a very good man but..... " Amelia paused. " But what ?" Emma asked. " But he has a son who can't to see women standing before him . He hates women and would do anything to make them feel like nothing . He has made our stay there a living hell Emma , just avoid him if you want peace . " Said Amelia . " Hurry up Emma, we are going to be late ," Amelia said picking up her bag from the coach and headed towards the door. Emma followed her . The work mates were very nice to her. They cooperated together in helping her know how they operated there and what she needed to do . Few moments later , a man in a black suit accompanied by other two one on each side . He sat down and placed his legs on the table.The other two men were left standing by his side . Emma being new there , she rushed and stood there waiting to serve them . The man turned and saw her there , smiling broadly with a book in her hand ready to take their orders . "Oh my God, Emma doesn't know what she has put herself into ," Amelia said to the other waitresses . " Is that Henry , ooh my , she is finished ,'' another one shouted holding her mouth. " The man stood up staring at her with a face full of questions . He begun going around her in circles observing her keenly . He then stopped and stared at her direct in the eyes . " You must be the new staff who replaced ........ what was the name again ?" Henry asked turning to look at one of the men beside him . " Sakura, her name was Sakura ." the man replied quickly . " Ooooh poor Sakura, she had to lose her job because of me , that is very bad, i am a very bad person right ?" he said turning to the other man on his left . " No sir , you are not a bad person , " he replied . Emma didn't dare to move . She stood there hands held together tightly , only her eyes moved from side to side . " So no one told you about me, little poor thing . What makes you think that you can work here in this restaurant ?" he asked her . Her mouth opened to talk but no voice came out . " Speak !'' Henry shouted at her ears. Emma was terrified and took on her heels. "Come back here, no one dates to walk out on Henry !" he shouted as his men ran after her . " Let her go, we shall me some other time ," he stopped them. Emma took a taxi and went back home . Later that day after the working hours were over , Amelia took her bag and Emma's stuffs and headed home. She found Emma seated on the sofa pressing her phone . " I am sorry for having met him like that , " she said closing the door behind her. " His name is Henry , he is very wicked . Only men are allowed to serve him there and not just any men , he has two trained waiters who cook and serve him , " she said dropping her bag on the sofa . " Well its okay , at least i know him now , i will avoid him . " Emma said . " Are you okay Emma ? did he hurt you ," she asked curiously sitting beside her . " Yeah , i'm okay , he didn't touch me but i almost peed on myself . That mans eyes are fierce ," Emma said as they both busted into laughter . " Next time you will learn to mind your business , " Amelia said in the middle of the laughter . " I f you run like that again you will be fired , " she added . The next day they prepared for their afternoon shift , took a taxi and reported to work. Henry came to have his lunch as usual . Dylan one of his special waiters came to take the order . He wrote them down carefully and left . Emma was carrying a platter of food ordered by a customer who sat in the next table near Henry's . She carefully placed it on the table and ," Welcome ," she said and turned around to leave . Henry pulled her hand roughly almost making her fall . She supported herself on the table with her other hand . " Let go of my hand , you are hurting me !" she said trying to loosen his grasp . " What if i don't, what will you do or you will run away again like yesterday ?" he said pulling her closer to him . " Listen to me you poor little thing , no one walks out on me , next time you try that you will know why they call me Henry !'' he said pushing her away from him. Emma gasped as she hit the table behind her . She slipped and fell on the floor . " Now that is what i am talking about , Nobody messes with Henry and goes unpunished , " he said bursting into laughter and his two bodyguards joined him. Emma stood up angry and embarrassed and walked back to the kitchen . " What did you do this time , Emma , i told you to avoid this man ." Amelia said . " I did nothing wrong . This man wants to make me quit my job but guess what, we just drew the battle line ," Emma said biting her lower lip . " See Emma , i know that you are angry but don't cross paths with Henry he will destroy you ," Amelia warned her . " Then be my guest ," she replied as she went to serve another customer .
