Kim held herself perfectly still as Steph shifted, then leaned back against her. Kim took a breath and did her best to relax as much as she could under the strange and stressful circumstances.
If she needed more of a reminder why it was not a good idea to get back into an intense relationship with Steph, simply being in this group right now should be plenty.
An ex threatening enough to warrant a restraining order should be plenty. Especially one who was turning out to be more dangerous and more sneaky than anyone imagined.
Jay’s unappreciated but accurate warning about Kim’s own state of mind, that should have been enough, too.
And still, sitting here with her arm around Steph, in full view of Auntie Venus and Ivy and Steph’s mother, that had to count for something.
