Chapter 37 Steph fought an intense impulse to go back into her bedroom and hide rather than help her mother get a light lunch ready. She might have welcomed it as a chance to keep herself distracted from increasing worry about Kim if it weren’t for the guests who’d be arriving any minute now. Instead she resigned herself to fetch-and-carry duty for setting up an elaborate sandwich buffet on the broad green kitchen island.
