The shadows envelop me as we slip into the forest, the cool night air raising goosebumps on my skin. Onyx's hand is warm in mine as we pick our way through the trees, following the winding path by moonlight alone. The leaves crunch softly under our feet and owls hoot gentle melodies from their hidden perches.
