Jaclyn's POV
We had been back from spring break for two weeks when Logan asked me to meet his parents. Today was the day. I was beyond nervous. I am so afraid they will not think I am good enough for him. I didn't come from money and know that is important to his father. Logan keeps telling me they will love me, but I can't get rid of this awful feeling in my stomach.
We arrived at his parents' house and my mouth dropped. This house was huge. Not as big as a pack house, but still really, really big.
"Stop worrying it's going to be fine." He placed his hand on the small of my back and led me into the house.
Entering the house was an even bigger surprise. It was beyond beautiful. It looked like it should be in a magazine.
"Logan baby!" I turned to see an elegant woman making her way to us. She pulled Logan into a big hug and turned and smiled at me. "You must be Jaclyn."
"Hi Mrs. Carter." I put my hand out to shake her hand and she looked at my hand and smiled. But she didn't take my hand and I slowly lowered it back down and looked at Logan. He just gave me an awkward smile.
"Come along, your Dad is already in the dining hall." She turned and walked away.
Logan didn't say anything, he just took my hand and we walked in the direction his Mom went.
We entered the dining hall and there sat Logan's Dad. He looked like an older version of Liam. Next to him was a young woman with long brown hair and hazel eyes. She really looked like the girl next door. But she didn't look anything like Liam or Logan.
Mr. Carter looked up and smiled at Logan. "Ah son, it's about time you got here." He stood and embraced Logan in a fatherly hug.
"Hey Dad. This is"
But before he finished, his Dad cut him off. "I want you to meet Grace." The girl stood in her seat and walked over to Logan and put out her hand.
"Oh um hi Grace." He turned and smiled at me. "Dad, this is my girlfriend Jaclyn."
"Hi Mr. Carter." For a second time, I reached out my hand. At least this time his father shook my hand but didn't say anything to me.
Through lunch, I listened to Mr. and Mrs. Carter praise Grace. She comes from a good family, they would love to merge the Carter Corp with Grace's father's company. How she was single and could speak 3 languages. And on and on.
Not once did his parents try to talk to me. In fact, it was like I wasn't even in the room. From time to time, Logan and Grace would have a conversation and I could see his Mom beaming. Once lunch was complete, I was ready to leave.
However, we ended up staying for another hour while Logan and Grace made small talk and I sat at the side awkwardly. Logan didn't even try to include me in the conversation with Grace. I wasn't sure if I was more hurt or mad but I knew I could handle being there. I stood up and Logan didn't even look up at me.
"Logan?"
"Just a minute, Jaclyn." Just like that, he went right back to talking to Grace. I stood there a few minutes longer before I just turned and walked out of the room. I saw his Dad sitting in his office with the door open and I just kept walking with my head held high.
As soon as I walked out of the house and got in my car, I felt tears slide down my face. Quickly wiping them away, I made my way to Lisa's apartment. I was so angry. Why did he ask me to meet his parents if I wasn't good enough? I was so embarrassed and hurt.
"HE SAID WHAT!"
"He told me too, just a minute, and went back to that other girl." The tears started to pour out of my eyes.
Lisa quickly wrapped her arms around me. My phone started ringing and I knew it was Logan and didn't even bother getting my phone out of my purse.
"You going to check that?"
"No....Maybe I should tell him. Just a minute, Logan."
"I love you." Lisa said, laughing.
A few hours later, I made my way back to my dorm. There was Logan sitting on the floor with his back against my door and his eyes were closed. I walked up to my door and lightly kicked his foot to wake him up. His eyes shot open and he jumped to his feet.
"Where have you been? Why didn't you answer my calls?"
I rolled my eyes and pushed past him and unlocked my door. I had no intentions of letting him in my room. I turned and stopped him from entering. "Just a minute Logan." Shutting the door and locking it in his face.
He started banging on my door. "Jaclyn! Let me in. Please! I am so sorry. Can we please just talk about this?"
"Go home, Logan. I need time alone."
"No, I am not leaving till you talk to me. I am going to sit right outside your door all night."
I cracked the door. "What do you want to tell me about Grace?"
"No! Please let me in."
I moved to the side and let him in. He sat down on my bed and ran his hand through his hair.
I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms. I have already had one man cheat on me. I was not going to go through the pain again.
"I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am about today."
He looked at me, waiting for me to say something. I just stared at him.
"You didn't seem sorry when you told me to wait, or when you ignored me the entire time. Oh wait, how about how you didn't say a word when your Mother acted as if I wasn't good enough to even shake my hand. Or better yet, when your Father introduced you to another girl."
"I'm an asshole."
"That's being nice about it."
"I know that this might be hard to understand, but I need to go along with what they want if I plan on taking over the company."
"Then why in the hell are you with me?"
"Because I love you and I just can't let you go."
I didn't know what to say.
"Say something, please."
"Logan, I love you but."
"Then let me make this right."
"How?"
"You leave that to me." He quickly stood up and closed the space between us. "I'm not interested in Grace. I only talked to her to get information about her Dad's company. She doesn't compare to you.I love you."
His lips grazed mine as if he was afraid I would push him away. Once he realized I wasn't going to push him away, he started to kiss me more deeply. I found that making up, almost made the fight worth it.
