Chapter 19

1348 Words
6 Months later I have just started my spring semester. I was still working for Liam and doing great in my classes. I called Maggie every day to check in and I couldn’t wait till summer break to spend the summer with her. My attraction to Liam grew but it seemed that attraction was only on my side. He would flirt with me and there were times my attraction was so intense I thought I would explode, but nothing happened. We talked almost every day and he was the only person that knew more about me was Maggie. Sometimes we would share moments. I would catch him staring at me and on more than one occasion I thought he was going to kiss me. But nothing ever happened. However, unlike when I was an Omega at college, I was popular. I didn’t really understand why, but people gravitated towards me. I wasn’t the most popular person that was known all over campus, but people liked me and I had made quite a few close friends. I had just finished up some work for Liam and I was getting ready to leave when he walked in. He was tall. Like really tall, maybe 6’4, with sandy blonde hair and dark blue eyes. He reminded me of Chris Hemsworth in a way. As my eyes traveled his body I realized he was in a conversation with Liam and I missed the first part of the conversation staring at him. “I really need a place to stay. I can’t get anything done at the frat house and I am already struggling to keep up with my classes. Please, Liam, you have to have at least one dorm room open.” “Logan, I can’t go around making exceptions like that and you know it. We are 3 weeks into this semester. ” Liam stated, but the look on his face told him that he was going to make an exception. “Please, Liam, I will do anything. I mean anything.” Logan begged.. “Fine, give me a second.” With that, Liam walked back to his desk and started typing away. “If you no longer need me I will be heading out.” I said, looking at Liam. But out of the corner of my eye I could see Logan’s surprised expression. He must have been in such a rush to talk to Liam that he didn’t even notice me. “Just a minute, Jaclyn. Do you have an empty room on your floor? I see one here 210?” “Yes, Alex dropped out and Tom got an apartment off campus.” Liam looked back at Logan. “You are in luck.” With that he turned and grabbed papers from the printer. “Jaclyn, can you grab me the key?’ I gathered the keys and when I returned, Logan had finished signing all the paper work. I handed the keys to Logan and, for the first time, we made eye contact. I blushed and quickly looked away. Logan smirked and looked back at Liam. “I also need to borrow your car to get my stuff.” “Not today. I have a date with Becca and I need my car.” Who was Becca? I felt a slight tug in my chest. I figured Liam didn’t want me, but I guess confirmation hurt more than I would have liked. I lied it was more then a tug. It freaking hurt. “Please Liam, I really can’t stay there anymore. It will only take one trip, please.” “I’m sorry Logan, not tonight. Maybe Sunday. We have to visit her family tomorrow. They want to talk about the wedding plans.” I felt like I couldn’t breathe. He was getting married. Not once had he mentioned he was dating somebody, let alone engaged. I know my crush was foolish, but it doesn’t stop the pain. I felt like somebody had just punched me in the stomach and I needed to get out of this office. “I have a car.” I spit out.. I know I did it to see how Liam would react. “Really? You wouldn’t mind giving me a lift doll?” Logan asked with a smile. “I figured a beauty like you would have a date on a Friday night.” Despite all the friends I had made, I had not once been asked out. “Nope, no dates for me. Do you want a ride or not?” My tone was almost a bit irritated. I felt like he was patronizing me and I just wanted to leave this damn office. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. I just can’t get over how beautiful you are.” “None taken, I’m just ready to leave work.” I said without looking at Liam. For some reason, Liam thought he had the right to add his opinion to the conversation. “Logan, I will help you move on Sunday. Jaclyn, you can go.” “No, I will take Jaclyn up on her offer. Neither of us have anything to do tonight and we now live on the same floor,” Logan said with a wink. “Great let’s go.” Before Liam could say anything else, I bolted out of his office. Quickly making my way to the parking lot with Logan right behind me. He gave me directions to his frat house and we made some small talk on the way there. When we arrived, it looked like they were getting ready for a party and it was only 4:30 on a Friday evening. “Do you need any help?” I asked, looking over at the small crowd in the backyard. Which was crazy for me because it was freezing outside, but I guess with enough alcohol you don’t feel the cold. “I don’t have a lot of stuff and most of it is packed. I will have a couple of guys help me carry the stuff out. You can help me get it to my dorm room.” He smiled and quickly left the car. It didn’t take long for Logan and 4 other guys to load my car. I watched as they all did weird fist pumps and half hugs as they said goodbye to each other. But before he could make his way to my car, a tiny beautiful red head grabbed his and pulled him into a lip lock. As soon as it happened, I looked away. I didn’t want to be weird and watch it unfold. But within seconds, Logan was getting into my car. “Sorry about that, my brothers really didn’t want me to leave, but I graduate next semester. It should have been this semester but I messed up partying too much.” I smiled at him and began our drive back to the dorm. When we arrived, I helped him unpack all of his stuff. It took two of us a lot longer than it did for him and 4 of his friends, but we managed. His room was a bit bigger than mine, but that was because it was designed for two people. He had a small room that connected to a small living area to be shared between his room and the one next to his. Mine was the only room on the floor that had a bathroom. There was a main bathroom for women and one for men on opposite sides of the hall. “Thanks for helping me bring all of these up. Looks like I have a long night ahead of myself getting this stuff unpacked. Too bad I won’t have any company.” He says with a small smirk. “I am sure you have plenty of people that would jump to help you.” “Surprisingly, all the people in my life only care if I am drinking.” The sorrow filled such a small sentence and his eyes dropped to the boxes in front of him.
