Chapter 9

As promised, Camilla returned an hour later and we descended the stairs and into the dining hall together. As we entered the hall, a silence fell over the pack. Jayson looked up and made eye contact with me and went right back to eating. I had not noticed at first until I heard her shrill voice. "What is she doing here? I thought you got rid of her weeks ago.” Milly was looking at me with disgust, sitting to the right of Jayson with her hand on her arm. He didn’t push her away or answer her question. Camilla rolled her eyes and nodded to the seat at the end near her. The pack began to chat again as if I wasn’t even in the room. I was finding it very hard to focus and eat as I watched Milly rub all over Jayson and talk about the ceremony to make her Luna. Nova was about to take over and go off on Milly and I was struggling to keep her at bay. Half way through dinner, I couldn’t take it anymore and I stood up and went to leave the room. “SIT DOWN.” Jayson said using his Alpha voice, and the entire pack became quiet and looked right at me. It was then something snapped inside of me. I turned slowly to him. “NO. YOU ARE NOT MY ALPHA AND I WILL NOT STAND HERE. WHILE MY MATE PLANS HIS FUTURE WITH ANOTHER WOLF.” “SIT DOWN, NOW!” He said a second time in his Alpha tone. I took a deep breath before continuing, “No I will not sit down. Enjoy your whore.” And with that I turned on my heels and went to leave the room. I had no idea how I didn’t fold to his Alpha tone. I knew it was a mistake to talk to him like that with his pack present, but I no longer cared. He was hurting me and Nova in a way I didn’t think could be fixed. Before I could make it out of the dining hall, his hands were on me, dragging me out of the pack house. “I guess you still need to learn a lesson, my little mate. You are not to talk to me like that in front of my pack.” I didn’t respond. I was done fighting. I knew nothing I could say would change his mind. He had decided on some form of punishment and I was going to have to take it. “No begging this time? Well, at least you don’t seem as weak as I thought. But let’s see how strong you are in the box.” Before his words could sink in, I was thrown in a dark room. I didn’t scream and I didn’t cry. I pulled myself to a seated position. I had no idea what the box was or what it would do to me. I didn’t even know how long I would be here. I did know Nova was freaking out. She just kept repeating ‘This is not good. We must get out. This is not good.’
