Chapter one
The unpeeled laughter and giggles of little children echoed in the woods.
"Run faster Sean!"
Young cubs, white and black, could now be seen running down the woods trying to catch each other.
The white cub pounced on the black, pinning it with its sharp claws to the ground.
The black wolf whimpers softly in pain, trying hard to free itself from the white cub's careless grip.
The scene changed swiftly to burning rocks rolling down the woods. They hit the long tree and immediately it set aflame, escalating into the bushes. In a matter of seconds, fire oozed everywhere. There was a commotion everywhere as all the animals took to their heels, their cries echoing in the woods.
"Layla, it is time to wake up," a soft voice suddenly dominated the woods.
In the pack of wolves, a young cub stopped suddenly. It turned behind. It bared its canines.
"Mama, is that you?"
Layla forced her eyes open quickly, she sat at the corner of the street, her body folded under a huge cartoon that reeked of spoiled fish.
"Like seriously!" Layla exclaimed in disgust, she pushed the cartoon angrily from her body and stood in haste.
Soft flute music floats through the air along with the playful laughter of children trying to catch each other. They were dressed in stained drowned rags of rice and salt.
Layla sniffed suddenly, moving her finger to her nostrils, "Where is such an ill smell coming from?" She wondered within herself, then it dawned on her that she was also in the same rag the children wore.
The children ran in her direction. One stopped to greet her with a brief bow, "Grandma, are you alright? Good Evening"
He drifted away after the greeting to join his mates.
"Grandma!" Layla scoffed; she was surprised by his greetings and couldn't stop chuckling.
An average-height woman, with long gray hair spread on her shoulders, walked towards Layla bent halfway with her hands folded behind her.
"Annabelle, are you daydreaming again?" The woman asked, etched with concern.
Layla creased her brows. Why was the old woman speaking to her like they were aged mates?
She rolled her eyes and bent her head, her cheek dropped with a frown as she caught her reflection in the water in front of her feet.
She held her face quickly and gasped in shock, "Why do I look so terrible?" She screamed, her voice echoing in the streets.
The old woman shook her head and pushed the tendril of hair that kept bumping into her face to the back of her ear. "Have you been drinking again?" She inquired and turned around to live.
Layla turned around, folding her arms and placing her finger under her chin.
"Annabelle? an old lady? A wretched life?" Layla mumbled indistinct words to herself.
The children stopped to listen but drifted away as they didn't understand a word she said.
"I wish I would never grow old!" One of the children exclaimed.

A black SUV drove roughly in front of a magnificent building and came to a halt.
"Are you ready, Alpha?" A voice came from inside the car in the driver's seat.
The conventional door swung open and Elvon stepped his white, leather sneakers out of the car, stealing the spotlight; everyone turned their gaze to him and whispered one to another.
Elvon, a tall and muscular figure with broad shoulders, stepped fully out of the car, revealing his full physique. He was dressed in a white turtle-necked jumper in dark blue chinos, and he had a neatly cut side fringe on his hair.
"Good morning Mr. Elvon" The employees stopped to greet each other with a brief bow.
"Good morning" Elvon responded in a thick but tender voice.
"OMG! Did he just reply?" The employees asked themselves, stealing glances at each other, their heads still bowed.
Elvon's silver eyes flutter unusually as he focuses them on a particular spot.
Remington, his assistant, rushed to him and held his arm.
"What are you still waiting for?" Remington's hoarse voice came threateningly.
The employees rolled their eyes, they stood upright and walked into the building.
"Let's go, Alpha Elvon," Remington's voice came in a whisper.
A frown dropped on Elvon's cheek and he rolled his eyes.
"Let's go!" He commanded in a harsh tone.

Elvon walks towards his office with his hand tucked in his trousers pocket.
Before his office was a large office, employees were already present. In accordance, they stood up and chorused "Good morning".
Elvon walks towards his door, but a voice makes his leg freeze, "Mr. Elvon?" A masculine voice called out.
Elvon turned briefly towards him with a brief smile on his face.
A man in a neatly pressed suit and huge spectacles on the bridge of his nose, stood fidgeting a few steps away from Elvon.
"Good morning Mr. Elvon" His voice was unsteady as he spoke.
The employees drifted their stares towards him and stared at them with keen interest.
Silentness swept through the area and tension plunged everywhere as they earnestly waited for a reply from Elvon.
Elvon licked his lower lips, he could audibly hear his heart thud uncontrollably against its ribs, his sharp nails nervously intertwined with his suit.
"Why was he agitated?" Elvon thought within himself.
"Oh! Havard Good morning," Elvon responded quickly and turned back to his previous position.
The man in huge spectacles scoffed.
Elvon placed his hands back into his trousers pockets. His leg froze suddenly, "Do not murder the suit!" He spoke confidently and walked into his office.
The spectacles guy staggered backwards holding his chest.
"He is so hot!" Ariana, a lady in a flashy dress exclaimed. She strolled towards him and placed her hand on his shoulder.
Tears dropped down his cheek, he turned to Ariana, "He made my heart beat," he whispered in a teary tone.
Another lady walked towards them, she was dressed in a rather simple dress unlike Ariana, "Are you guys sure if he is truly blind?" She asked, staring at his office door.
