Chapter 16

Avarice's point of view

"35!" Quartz shouted as he stabs the heart of the 35th demon that he killed since they arrived.

"37!" Cloud also shouted since they are competing with the most kills like it was just all a game.

"So" and here I am with Sin. "You're tired, are you?"

I looked at his back and quickly shot the demon that was about to attack him.

"Who's who?"

He chuckled and continued to kill demons on the battlefield. We have to control the situation as much as we can to prevent any necessary damage so that they can't invade the city. There are still many demons left despite all of the kills we had, and if the princes don't do something about this, it may be the end of hell.

"Sin, how long will Death and Dark take to plan something about that matter?!" I asked and pointed to the gate which was destroyed.

"I'm sure they'll be here soon" he stated while huffing. "They must be here soon, we should wait"

But how long? The Corps is exhausted, and even the princes can't make it up if we don't do something about that.

A loud thud exploded from a distance and what shocked me the most was the figure of a demon that I've never seen my entire life. It was so huge that it's triple times bigger than a normal demon, it has 3 longhorns and a dragon-like appearance.

"You've gotta be kidding me" I heard Quartz whispered as the demon growled in anger and burned all of the things it saw on the path.

"Isn't that a locust?" Sin asked his brothers.

Cloud scratched his chin. "Well, it doesn't matter what it is, we need to eliminate that. So, Let's go?!"

The three of them disappeared in front of me, and there I realize that they are in front of the huge monster already.

Quartz's point of view

So finally it's my point of view!

"Right!" Sin shouted as soon as the locust tried to strike using its horns.

The three of us dodge as soon as it roared with flames, in a blink of an eye, the two of them attack when they find the right times. They both tried to stab the heart but they failed to because it's hard as a rock.

"What are we gonna do?!" I exclaimed.

"Stupid, you're not thinking are you?!" Sin shouted. "We need to wait for the opening!" he added which makes me realize that its chest will open up if it blows fire.

"Lure him to aim the fire to you since you are useless!" he stated while avoiding every attack.

This guy's eggs will burst later, I'll definitely sue him. But since I am a very thoughtful brother, I did what he said. I use myself as bait and give all of my strength to whack its horns.

It groaned in pain and it actually shows that it is angry because of what I did, the demon wiggled its face causing me to off-balance but I managed to chap into its head.

It sucked a lot of force and energy to blew flames once again but before it could even do that, Cloud and Sin conjoined their swords together to stab its heart.

We quickly vanished as soon as it collapsed and got back to where Corporal Avarice is. Death, Dark, Igneous and, Ash also finally came to start fixing the gate.

Igneous melted all the metallic mixture that the other Corps has which were just delivered, and the four of them started to use their powers to fill it up. We killed all the demons that remained inside and when it's done, we all took a deep breath in exhaustion.

But the bad news still does not end.

"Requesting back up, we need back up!" Killea spoke through the radio. "We encountered another hole from the walls few miles away from the gate near the headquarters. The City and the headquarters are now under attack! I repeat we are under attack!"

Bliss' point of view

I flinched in fear when a bang exploded outside the headquarters, Killea told me to stay inside for the moment and wait for help while she tries to eliminate any demon that tries to step inside, but I couldn't think of anything aside from fear.

This is almost nostalgic as I remember my wistful past when my parents died because of those demons, that day was so cruel that it would have been better if I was the one who died instead of them.

Tears started to fall towards my cheeks as I decided to stand up and face my fears, I grabbed one of the newly developed weapons that both I and Killea did and stamped by foot to cheer myself up despite trembling.

I hear loud screams and shouts that are in pain when I reached the pathway through the exit, but before I could even get out, a huge demon was there that surprised me. I shouted in fear and started to shoot everywhere to protect myself, I am so bad at it that I don't even know where I am aiming at. 

It didn't even back off because no damage has been done to its body, so I immediately ran away and started to scream for help.

I tried to find Killea but she's nowhere to be found.

Is she dead? Is this the end of me?

I remembered Lucia's words for the moment.

"Time will come, that the pain you are feeling right now will turn into hope, Bliss. No matter how million years you wait for it to fade, it will never hundred percent disappear, but you can turn it into a bad memory and replace it with a good new one"

I felt so sorry that I did not take that advice seriously, I should've made myself happy before dying.

I ran as much as I could that I didn't know there was something on the floor, it caused me to stumble into the ground so I groaned in pain realizing a sharp metal hits me in my right leg.

Blood started to spill causing the demon to growl, which is obvious that it likes the smell of blood. And in a blink of an eye, the demon quickly ran towards my direction but before it even smashes me into a pulp a guy appeared out of nowhere and forcefully kicked the demon back outside the headquarters.

He looked at me with his eyes in gloom and quickly held me in his arms like a bride.

"You came" I muttered while touching his cheeks.

"I'm sorry for the wait," he said and kissed my hands.

My sight started to blur and darken, but before I could even lose consciousness I wanna say the words I wanted him to hear for a very long time.

"I love you, Ash" I said as I close my eyes.

"I love you too"
