AN INVITATION
‘What is it?’ Lillian eyed the envelope with suspicion.
‘Only an invitation to the biggest event of the season.’ Cora suppressed an excited giggle. ‘Olivia Shaw wanted to know all about my new dress on account of the many compliments I received at her wedding. If I didn’t know better, I’d say she was a tad jealous. I didn’t feel at all guilty because I truly felt beautiful. It was glorious. Olivia said she simply must meet you. I suggested to her that you and your husband might appreciate an invitation to the orphanage fundraiser ball that’s taken for ever to organise and she agreed that was a good idea.’
