Chapter 18

1173 Words
After Mr Akuma’s visit, I couldn’t stop fidgeting as I sat outside getting some fresh air. My new vampire senses were picking up the flowers that were hidden away in the maze. The cool air was a nice change from the room I was in for the meeting. My mind going back there and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something big was going to happen soon. Erik and Sky had an urgent matter that made them leave quite abruptly after the meeting had finished. They didn’t tell me what it was just that they had to go. I hoped they wouldn’t be gone too long because I really didn’t want to be alone. My phone tinged, bringing me back to the present moment. ‘Just got to Erik’s pack. I will give you a call to let you know what’s going on.’ ‘Thank-you. Miss you.’ ‘Miss you.’ I was a little worried that he had left me here alone, especially with the threat Sam gave me last time, but I knew he would have asked Benny to watch out for me while he was gone. Speaking of Benny, he was sitting across from me now, having just come outside. ‘What are you doing here?’ I asked. ‘Sky told me to keep an eye on you while he was gone.’ ‘Yeah, but I don’t think that means being right beside me every hour of the day.’ ‘It does.’ I rolled my eyes, now feeling more like I was being babysat than protected. My phone started ringing. I gladly answered it hoping it was Sky letting me know what was going on and that he’d be back soon. ‘Hello,’ I answered. ‘Hey girl! How about we hit up the town tonight?’ Aura asked. ‘Sounds good to me, I could use some time away.’ ‘Awesome! Send me your address and we’ll get ready together!’ After hanging up the phone, I sent her a message with the address and got to my feet. ‘Where do you think you’re going?’ Benny asked, eyeing my phone. ‘My friend is coming over and we’re going out for a few hours.’ ‘Skylar wanted you to stay put here.’ ‘Listen, it’s been a rough couple of days and I need some time away. So, you can either come with us or not.’ I could feel the annoyance in the look he gave me, his brow furrowing and I knew he would be calling Sky the next minute he gets. Aura got to Sky’s house faster then I thought she would, she must have been in the area. ‘This house is so nice!’ she exclaimed, walking through the door. ‘Yeah, Sky’s family has lived here for centuries.’ ‘Wow.’ ‘Come on, let’s get ready, then we can head out.’ ‘Sweet. Girl’s night!’ ‘Do you know where you’d like to go?’ ‘I have a few ideas. Is this whole bodyguard guy coming with us?' she asked, raising her eyebrows at Benny. I nodded. ‘Yeah, Sky is away currently on business.’ ‘Gotcha, you have to keep the queen safe,’ Aura smiled mischievously. ‘I’m not the queen.’ I rolled my eyes. ‘Not yet, but I see his mark on you.’ I blushed, covering where he had marked me. It took us about an hour to find a dress each of us liked and to put some make-up on. Aura had to help me as I had never done it before today, but we were finally ready. Aura was wearing a simple blue dress and I was in a dark blue dress. ‘Let’s go!’ We left in a big SUV, Benny behind the wheel. Benny had phoned Sky to let him know that I was leaving the house with a friend. Sky wasn’t too happy about it but made sure that both Benny and Axel came with us. The club that Aura chose was on the opposite side of town in the forest. It was half outside and half-covered. It was called the Mystical Fairy, a place that was apparently run by the Fae. There were so many people here that there was a line leading right outside the door and around the corner. We approached the door and the bouncer let us in straight away. ‘I thought we’d have to wait in line,’ I commented. ‘No, he’s an old friend of mine,’ Benny interjected. Aura led us towards the back where the label read VIP. The bouncer looked us up and down before letting us through. The VIP section was completely outside, tall trees covered up the night sky, making it look like a roof. Moss was around the trunks where small fairy lights are located. It really did look magical. There were about 20 people total here in the VIP section as we found a booth to sit in. Benny sat on the other side to have a better look at our surroundings. ‘What drink would you like?’ Aura asked. ‘Whatever you’re having is good,’ I replied. I wasn’t really that knowledgeable about what drinks tasted good. ‘This place is so amazing,’ I said, looking around. ‘I know! I’ve only been here once with my ex.’ ‘Ex?’ ‘Yeah, my ex-boyfriend was a real psycho.’ ‘That sucks.’ ‘I’m happy. I haven’t been this happy in a long time.’ ‘I’ve been meaning to ask you something,’ Aura said, as the drinks arrived. ‘Sure.’ ‘There's a strong smell in the King’s house that belongs to a wolf.’ ‘That’d be Erik.’ ‘Erik?’ ‘Yeah, he’s over quite a lot.’ ‘Does his mate live there?’ ‘No, he hasn’t found his mate yet.’ ‘True.’ Aura looked off into the distance, a strange look in her eyes, almost like she was talking to someone. I was about to ask her about it when a loud explosion happened nearby, the trees rustling and birds flying free. Benny appeared right alongside me as people started running in every direction. Aura became alert as she scanned the area. I tried listening to it but all I heard were screams and feet hitting the ground. ‘We need to go,’ Benny said, trying to herd me towards the exit. ‘Shouldn’t we help the others?’ I asked, glancing around at all the others. ‘No.’ ‘But..’ ‘He’s right, we need to go,’ Aura said. Making our way out of the VIP room, there were men rushing towards us. ‘Oh, s**t,’ muttered Aura. They started moving me in a different direction when I was pushed to the floor. Aura had vanished and Benny was lying still on the floor a few feet in front of me. ‘Benny!’ I yelled trying to crawl towards him. ‘Don’t worry about him, you need to worry about yourself.’ I glanced upwards as my face kicked in with someone’s foot, darkness swallowed me.
