Chapter 19

Chapter 19 One thing I knew for certain was how badly my face was hurting. I tried to think back to what happened to me and the only thing I could remember was a foot. Adding the foot and my sore face, I knew I must have been kicked in the face. Groaning, I looked around the place I was in, it was dark. Even my vampire eyes couldn’t make up much of what was around me, but then again, they weren’t as strong as they were previously, because I hadn’t had blood in a while. I could tell I wasn’t in a car as I was lying down and I wasn’t in motion at all. What I was lying on was cold and hard, the sound of chains rattling as I tried moving my arms. There was a faint dripping noise in the distance which gave me the sense that I must have been underground somewhere and that’s when I noticed the strong smell of dirt. ‘She’s awake,’ laughed a voice I recognised all too well. ‘What’s going on?’ I whispered as My Akuma stepped forward, lighting a candle nearby. ‘I told you I wasn’t done with you.’ ‘Sky is going to come after me.’ ‘The king? I think he will be quite busy elsewhere.’ ‘What did you do to him?’ ‘Nothing. Just made sure that a certain pack was in trouble and would stay that way for a while. By the time he realises you’re gone, it will be too late.’ ‘Too late?’ I squeaked, thinking he was going to kill me. ‘You do not need to worry, I’m not going to kill you. My plans are far greater than that.’ My Akuma had hired people to attack Erik’s territory just so they were distracted and out of the way so he could get to me. I struggled some more against the restraints but I wasn’t budging. ‘You can struggle all you want, you’re not going anywhere. Not until it is time.’ ‘For what?’ ‘Patience.’ He moved out of sight as I tried to follow where he walked. The rest of the room came into focus now and I could see that it was made of stone with only one wooden door that led in and out of the place. More candles started coming alive now and the room felt smaller and smaller. Skylar will come for me. I know he will. The door opened and a man walked into the room. He had long hair that hid most of his face, but I could see there were scars all over it. He was tall and well built as well. ‘Alright, this is what’s going to happen,’ Mr Akuma announced. ‘You’re going to show us how you can control the water and Mr Todd here will punish you every time you refuse.’ ‘I have no idea what you are talking about,’ I lied. ‘Mr Todd.’ With one quick movement he had taken out a knife and sliced through my upper arm, warm blood flowing down. It wasn’t a very deep cut there, but I knew if he did enough of them I wouldn’t be here for much longer, since I hadn’t had any blood sustenance for a while. I didn’t know why he wanted me to show him this. He had seen me move it before when I was younger, so why now? After 10 cuts, Mr Akuma was starting to get annoyed but my stubbornness. ‘Mr Todd, break something instead.’ My scream echoed around the room as my finger was broken. ‘I’ll let you stay there now, think about what you want to show me.’ The door closed behind them, leaving me alone in the room. My finger was throbbing and my body stung where I had been cut. Tears started streaming down my face as my stomach grumbled. I was getting thirsty the more blood that left my body the more I craved it. Passing out from pain and hunger, I opened my eyes to see I was standing in the middle of a forest. ‘It appears you have gotten yourself into quite a predicament,’ the shadow said, walking out of the tree line. ‘You could say that.’ ‘Do you require some assistance?’ ‘No, Sky will come.’ ‘You put so much faith in this Sky. Is he really worthy of it?’ ‘He is.’ ‘If you say so.’ ‘He’ll come for me.’ ‘We’ll see. Call on me if you need anything,’ he faded away and I woke up to the door opening again. I must have been asleep for a while if he was coming back already. It was like this for the next few days except the shadow never visited again. Mr Todd and Mr Akuma would come ask the same question, I gave the same responses and I would lose blood and gain broken bones. My body was aching and Sky had not come for me. Mr Akuma always let me know how many days it had been, as if to let me know that Sky was never going to come. My eyes were closed when I overheard Mr Akuma talking to Mr Todd. ‘She’s going to crack soon,’ Mr Akuma said. ‘Are you sure she is the right one?’ ‘I’m certain she is.’ ‘Then why do you need a confession from her?’ ‘I saw it years ago and I need to see it happen right in front of me. I need you to see it.’ ‘If she confesses and does as you request, then what?’ ‘With her by my side, I can finally overthrow the King.’ ‘By your side?’ ‘I will force her to marry me.’ Their footsteps echoed down the hall, fading the further they got away. My body had stopped healing by itself, my blood hunger was through the roof and I was barely holding on. Sky hadn’t found me yet and I was beginning to wonder if he was even trying. The shadow figure seemed to doubt him a lot. I didn’t understand why he needed to have anyone else witness my ability, none of that made sense. The only thing I knew for certain was that I needed to get out of here. I was going to die here because I was never going to marry that man.
