Anger

1313 Words
Jace's POV I don't go directly back to Raelynn's room, even though that is the only place I want to be. I instead take myself down to the dungeon to see if I can find any clues that I may have missed earlier about how the prisoner escaped. In all the times we had interrogated him, he never told us anything we could use, not even his name. Strange that my father had never even heard of the tattoo the man bore on his neck either. I look for a couple of hours and find nothing useful at all. Feeling resigned I decide that I need to see Raelynn and make it up to her. You can let her shift, we will be there when she does and will not let anything or anyone hurt her. She needs this, Miska needs this. Let me guess. You agree with her training too. It would not hurt for our future Luna to be well versed in training. That's a Luna who would be able to not only protect herself, but other weaker members of the pack as well. And as far as getting hurt, once she has that first shift behind her, she will heal incredibly fast. Raj makes lots of sense. Raelynn will be happy that she will be able to shift. I will just have to make sure that we are well secured during this time as my primary focus will be on her, making sure she is safe. The rest will be to protect the pack. Smiling now, with good news to share I open Raelynn's door. I don't see or hear her. I sniff the air. I don't smell her either. She's gone. Raelynn's POV Feeling like a rebellious teenager I snuck out of the pack house and into the woods. I know where the secret training grounds were, where pack members who didn't want to be watched would train. So that's where I go. I need to work out this anger and what better way to do it. This trainging ground is equipped with a punching bag as well. I start punching and it feels great. I know your mad at him, but he just wants us safe. He just put his foot down, there was no discussion. I do not want a mate who is not going to allow me a chance to better myself, who's going to hold me back. I just found out where I'm from and someone has already tried to kill me for the second time in my life. I will not be told I can't do something. I'm a damn Royal for crying out loud. Before Miska and I can carry on this conversation, I feel a presence. I feel the tattoo on my back heating up. My ears listen for anything to allow me to know where the person is, at the very least which direction. "Come out. I know your there." I yell into the woods. I hear the bushes shift and there appears the missing prisoner. I stiffen. Damn it.The prisoner with the wolf dragon tattoo moves like a snake around the opening, like a predator stalking its prey. "Well, I didn't expect for you to be out here all alone." he sneers at me. "And I didn't expect you to be so stupid so show your face. The pack is looking for you, they will never stop." I say as I watch him, never allowing him to be behind me. "You are nothing but a weak Royal. It should take no time at all for me to snuff you out, allowing me to ascend to the throne. After all, your parents never saw it coming. They didn't see that their advisor was working to over throw them. The only part of my plan that wasn't expected, was for you to survive. But I can take care of that right now." he chuckled. It made my skin crawl. "You were their advisor? They trusted you and you betrayed them!" "I was the one pulling the strings anyways, might as well get recognition for my work." He says as he starts to approach me. "Don't come any closer you sick psychopath. You don't deserve to be in charge of anything." "I don't take orders from you." He takes a few more steps forward. "I said STOP!" I yelled holding up my hand. He stops moving, but not of his own will. It's almost like he's frozen in place. "What the hell! What kind of sorcery is this? Why can't I move?" he says with eyes shooting daggers at me. I stand there staring at him and barely realize that Jace is suddenly by my side. "Raelynn.... are you okay?" he asks placing a hand on my back. "I'm fine. He can't move. I don't know what I did but he can't move. Can you contain him? I'm afraid that if I move he will flee again." "Your wish is my command." he grins as he strides over to the prisoner and ties him up quickly. He mindlinks the warriors to come and gather the prisoner and to contain him wrapped in silver. After the prisoner is taken away I collapse, whatever just happened with the prisoner just shook me. I have no idea what I have done but my body feels drained. Jace is right there by me when I collapse. Eerything goes black. Jace's POV Raelynn collapsed, luckily I was able to catch her when she fell. I scoop her up in my arms and take off for the pack house, mindlinking the doctor to meet us there. I need to make sure she is okay. I just found my mate and will not lose her. I was so pissed when I discovered she wasn't in her room and had taken off to look for her. That was when I caught her scent and found her near the hidden training grounds. My heart had stopped when I saw the prisoner stalking towards her. But before I could do anything to stop him, Raelynn stopped him. Not sure how, but she did it. Unfortunately, her body didn't seem to want to keep upwards once the incident was over. Whatever happened did not bode well for her health I'm sure. Back at the pack house I place Raelynn on the bed, she is still not awake by time Doctor Sara arrives. The only way I can tell she's still alive is by the rise and fall of her chest. I brush the hair off of her forehead. "Alpha, what happened here?" the doctor asks. "I'm not entirely sure, honestly. I arrived at the hidden training grounds to find her with her arm up telling the prisoner to stop and it was like he was frozen in place, unable to move. Afterwards she collapsed and passed out. I brought her straight here." "Hmm, interesting. How long was she 'holding' him off, would you say?" the doctor checks Raelynn's blood pressure. "Just a few minutes. It was the craziest thing." "Well her heart rate and blood pressure seem fine. Her pupils are reactive to the light, which is great. So right now I think the best thing to do is to let her rest. Let me know if anything changes." Raelynn's POV I am suddenly not home. I am in a beautiful garden with vines of purple wisteria all around. The smell of lavendere calms me and I take in the beautiful surroundings. "I hope you like my home." a woman's voice says behind me. I whirl around to come face to face with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. "Goddess." I bow my head. "Your home is beautiful. But why am I here? Am I dead?" "Oh no my dear. You are not dead. I just needed to speak with you."
