Chapter 2

Joel Sinclair:- I suppressed a smile as I saw my lovely assistant's endearing expression. I can laugh right now, but I can't let down my guard and reveal my true self because people would take advantage of me, which is the last thing I want. I know Olivia is not like others since she is unique, which makes it difficult for me to be close to her. She is a pure and innocent beauty, and if I draw her near to me, all I will do is destroy her heart and burn her in my flames. I always yell and shout at her because I don't want to pull her close to me; instead, I want her to flee away from me. But it is not the only reason I am harsh and condescending toward her. I have another purpose that I would prefer to keep to myself because she will thank me one day. Olivia seems just too pure and naïve to be real. If she doesn't grow tough, this wicked world will devour her alive. She is an outstanding woman who deserves more, but if she continues to be this innocent and good to everyone, she will only receive pain and betrayal. "I'm sorry, Mr. Sinclair, I'm sorry, but I will not be able to stay." Olivia jolted me out of my reverie as she spoke and dashed out of the office like her ass was on fire. She was leaving the office so quickly that she didn't notice my closest buddy Thomas come through the doorway and collide with him; if it hadn't been for Thomas, she would have fallen on the floor and harmed herself. "Oh, hey, lovely. What have you flushed, and why is your ass on fire?" Thomas questioned Olivia in a lighthearted tone and with a seductive look that turned Olivia's cheek pink. "I apologize, Thomas. I didn't intend to run into you. I was merely in a rush since I needed to accomplish some stuff." She informs Thomas as I stare with envy at my best friend's hand around Olivia's waist. He must remove it from her or I will murder my closest buddy. f**k! Why am I thinking in this manner again? Why am I once again envious of my assistant? What's the matter with me? Why do I just covet her and her body when I have a booty call standing right in front of me that I can f**k in whatever position I want? "Thomas, once you've finished flirting with my assistant, would you please come inside and look after these account reports for me?" I spoke to my friend in a sour tone, which caused him to smirk even more and start to taunt me in order to get directly on my nerves. If he does something reckless, I am going to murder him. "Hello, lovely. Are you available this afternoon for a lunch date with me?" Thomas inquired to Olivia, who giggled and shook her head, her eyes twinkling with delight. I want to be the reason she laughs, which is why I'm so hot-headed right now that I can't think straight. "Would you both mind leaving my office and resuming your flirting and nonsense elsewhere because I need to f**k? To be honest, I don't mind Olivia remaining here to see what I do..." Olivia rushed out of my office before I could complete my statement. Thomas and I burst out laughing, full belly laugh, as soon as she was out of sight. "Was it really necessary? When you stated it, her face became ghostly white." Thomas announced. "What else can I say? She is far too simple to manipulate." I spoke with a shrug of my shoulder then turned my attention to the p********e "Fiona, how many times have I told you not to come over here to my office unless I ask you to?" I asked, glaring at the woman in front of me. "Your services are no longer required." "Yeah, because you want to f**k that brunette assistant of yours, right?" "If you want her that badly, why don't you just go fuck her already?" she shouts, hates oozing from her voice. "Get the f**k out of my office and never, ever show your face to me again, b***h. I'm sure you can buy some decent clothes for yourself from them," I yelled at the girl as I took a couple of bucks from my wallet and slammed them on her face. After spitting on my office floor, the b***h scooped up the dollar notes and walked away. I was about to switch my focus back to my friend when Thomas and I heard a loud cry of anguish from Olivia, followed by someone yelling her name. I was on my feet and dashing out of my office like a lunatic, only to see Olivia bleeding from the head and Fiona clutching a glass vase with which she had hit Olivia. "Olivia!!" I yelled as I rushed to her, my pulse hammering hard in my chest. I was in front of her in the next second, her in my arms, placing pressure on the spot on her head where Fiona had just hit her. "Someone call 911 right now!" I yelled for aid and turned to Olivia, who was battling to keep her eyes open. "Hey....hey, Olivia, look at me, don't you dare close your eyes. Please keep them open." "I...I can't," she sobbed. " It's extremely painful." "You pay attention to me over here, Olivia. You must keep your eyes open at all costs, and I am not asking you to do so. I've told you to keep them open or I'll fire you." I gave her my order. She chuckled before collapsing in my arms as Fiona tried to flee. I couldn't wait for the ambulance to come so I picked her up in my arms bridal style and ran out towards the elevator along with Thomas. " I will not let anything happen to you. I will not. This is all my fault." I tell her unconscious self.
