Alan's eyes glisten with unshed tears and I become extremely uncomfortable. It is odd behavior for someone I only met once. Besides, I was only gone from the hospital for a short time before Luca found me. The way Alan is acting, you would have thought I had been gone for years.
I take another quick scan of the room to calculate how easy it would be to escape in a hurry if need be. Alan must notice the distress on my face because he soon shakes it off and clears his throat.
