"He looks like Chucky, don't you think?" I curiously asked the vendor of the antique shop I am right now.
"Yes, the one who donated the doll said it was inspired by the movie." She answered.
"Really? I'll buy it and will try to scare my friend using it." I chuckled.
"Ma'am, the one who donates it said don't use to scare people because it has its own story and life." The vendor explained and tried to warn me. I furrowed my eyebrows and thought how ridiculous the words coming from her mouth.
"Well. I'll still buy it. I like collecting antique or vintage things so this doll will be added to my collections." I explained. "And scaring my friends will just a bonus," I added. She nodded at me and took the doll so she can wrap it up.
In fairness the doll is creepy but it's okay, I am happy that my collections are growing. I am Astrid San Pedro, my hobby is collecting old, vintage, and antique things. Not really sure why I started collecting, maybe because I grew up in a family of collectors but out of many of us, I'm the only one who collects this kind of thing. Sometimes my friends keep telling me that I am getting creepier because of my collections and how I take care of them.
The vendor came back and gave me the item. "The doll has a book with it. The donator said that whoever going to buy this doll must read the book." The vendor said. She gave me the book and I got excited seeing the book is also kind of old. Another bonus vintage item for my collections.
"Thank you. I'll be going now." I said. The vendor bid her goodbye too. I directly go home, excited for my new items. While in the taxi, I can't help to see the condition of the book. Her Anathema. Weird. Why do I feel that the book is not connected to the doll? I guess I'll find later, why.
After arriving at my house, my parents met me in the hall of our home. I can see how thrilled they are.
"Baby, I heard you bought another thing for your collection." My mom smiled and hug me.
"Dear, what is it?" My dad chiming in.
"Mom. Dad. You two looked more thrilled than I am. I just bought a creepy doll. Look." I answered while unwrapping the item. When they saw the doll, their excitement was gone in an instant and they became silent. "What's with your reaction? Is the doll super creepy?" I scoffed and looked at them for a while.
"No baby. It's just the doll is familiar to us. Where did you buy this baby?"
"Yes dear, I think I saw that.... Oh, this is the doll that inspired the film Chucky right hon?"
"Now I remember. But this doll has a different story. Baby, why don't you put it back in the shop. This is so creepy to be in your collection."
"Mom and Dad, I like this so I'm not going to give it back to the shop. The two of you look suspicious?"
"N-No baby. I'm just scared. Hehe. Fine keep it but take care okay." My dad lastly said leaving me alone with the item.
Why would mom be scared of this doll? I mean Mom and Dad collect creepier than this. I took the doll and goes to my room and set it in my display cabinet. See, few more items to go and another display cabinet will be filled with my collection. While admiring my collections, I can't seem to avoid looking at the doll. There's a pull that I can't stop going near it, making my face inches away from the face of the doll. Feels like I'm in a trance and I don't know why.
"Ma'am Astrid, the dinner is already served. Your parents are waiting for you in the dining." Yelled by our maid and because of that, I snapped out of the trance. What the hell! The doll really lives out its creepiness.
Before I arrived at the dining area, I heard my parents arguing about something. It got me curious because it's my first time hearing them in a heated argument before. I stopped and started eavesdropping on their argument.
"Hon, I don't know how it got back! Why Astrid of people?" Frustration can be heard in my dad's voice.
"We need to get rid of the doll, okay. We need to make Astrid safe. I don't want to happen to her what happens to Aluna." Worried lacing to the tone of my mom. Aluna? Do they mean my aunt Aluna who died at a young age for no apparent reason? What's her connection to the doll though?
"How are we going to convince our daughter to get rid of the doll? You know how she treasures her collections. It's either we do it or we tell her the truth..."
"What's the truth that I need to know dad?" I demanded softly, butting in, in their conversation. I know it's bad interjecting at their argument but ever since I arrived with the doll, they are acting suspiciously and I need to know why this instance.
"B-Baby? How much did you hear?"
"Not much. What are you talking about that I needed to know?"
"B-Baby.... The doll... We can't really tell you what's the truth baby." My mom sadly told me.
"Mom will you stop acting suspiciously!? The doll is creepy, yes but I don't think I need to get rid of it. And what are these things that I need to know? What's the connection between Tita Aluna and the doll?" I exclaimed. This the first time that I got mad at them. We are not like this before. What's wrong with the doll? That's all I want to know.
"Dear, read the book and you will know why. Please." My dad begged.
"I hate this atmosphere right now! Not hungry anymore so I'll go to my room now." I said and turned away from them. I can hear them sighing out loud but they didn't even try to stop me.
Ugh! What's their problem with this creepy doll?! Creepy, yes but it's not that scary and for the first time, I had an argument with my parents because of the item that I bought. What's the connection of my dead aunt to this doll? So many questions running in my brain and it is giving me headaches. I'll just sleep this curiosity and madness for now. I sighed and get myself ready to sleep.

"You're more gorgeous than the past guardian." Whispered by a hoarse voice. "Such a waste though, cause if get what I want. I'll chop your body until no one can recognize you." He added.
I suddenly got uncomfortable because of that voice. A hoarse, taunting, and with a shrill voice that made me scared. I don't know if this really a dream, cause that voice felt so real, giving me goosebumps all over myself. I woke up and sat, calming my heart. Sweats all over my forehead and I can feel a terrifying aura around my room. I glance at the cabinet where the doll resides and saw that the doll is not there anymore. Did my parents take it while I'm sleeping?
"Does my voice scare you, my dear?" I heard that scary voice again. I turned to where the voice coming from and shocked me to the core that the doll is standing at the end of my bed, but instead of the height of a doll, it has the height of an average human. s**t! What the fudge!
"My dear Astrid, is my voice scary?" He asked again while slowly climbing to my bed, going to me.
"W-who the hell are you? How did you get in?! I'll call a guard, don't try to go near me!" I stammered while trying to get away from him. I am so terrified that I can't cry for help.
"I won't hurt you, my dear. I don't know why but I know I can't hurt you. Just give me the thing that I want."
"W-what do you want?" I asked while slowly crawling out of my bed, while he is also slowly crawling in my direction. I need to get out of here. Mom and dad should just tell me the truth so I had disposed of this doll earlier.
"Give me the necklace and I will not hurt them." At this point, both of us are already out of the bed. I'm only inches away from my door. Please God, let me get out of here.
"No! The necklace is important to me, to our family."
I'm getting myself ready to bolt out of the room once I grab the doorknob but all of sudden the doll man speed up in my direction and pinned me against my door. My heart beating erratically that I feel like it will burst at any moment. I looked at his eyes and felt that feeling again, the feeling like I am in a trance. s**t! I need to move. Why I can get my body to move?
"N-not my necklace please," I begged, crying at this point. Something flashes at his eyes so fast that if you're not looking at it, you'll never catch it. It is sadness? Kindness? I can't pinpoint it."I told you before right, I won't hurt you. I just need the necklace. You'll understand it soon." He sadly said to me.
My eyebrows furrowed at that moment. Why do I feel sad for him? Who the hell hurt this doll man cause I have suddenly the inkling to destroy the one who hurt him. Is the even possible? What the heck I am thinking?
"Baby? Are you okay there? I brought some food for you in case you would go hungry. Your dad and I are sorry for what happened a while ago." I heard my mom on the other side of the door. Because of it, my body is now moving and I grab the doorknob. But before I can shout for some help, the doll man took the necklace out of me and then speed away from me.
"I got what I need my dear Astrid. I wish we met at a different time, I bet, I'll love your company. The book is important. read and you'll understand." He stated calmly and vanished through the thin air.
