"We're not allowed to go up there Arienne!" Sully pleaded as she's trying to stop me.
"Come one, Sully! Don't tell me you believe it also? The not so creepy myth about pirates." I bellowed.
"Uhm.... Yes? I mean there's a reason why they put protection spell up there, especially to you. Don't you know how strong the protection spell they put on you?"
"No, I do not know and I don't care. Sully, don't you want to see what's up there? It's always been my dream, you know that."
"I know Arienne but they forbid us to go up there and you're just going to ignore that? I'm just worried okay, the punishment is not a joke when you defy that order."
"Okay fine. I'm not going up there... for now." Whispering the latter. "I have to go home now. See you tomorrow Sully!" I said and started my way going home, leaving Sully behind.
That pathetic myth. We're not there when it happened. Why do we have to suffer from that myth that happened years ago? They forbid us to go up to the surface but my curiosity always got me. I always imagine what's the view up there because of my mom's description.
Oops. I didn't introduce myself. I'm Arienne, just a simple mermaid girl. Yes, I am a mermaid. We're gentle mermaids, as long as you don't make us mad because we can also kill. Facts about a mermaid? Well, we do have an enticing voice but we don't use it to lure humans unless that mermaid is a bad mermaid and we also don't age, the aging process stops when we are in our 20th age.
Things that so precious to a mermaid? That's our tears. Our tears can heal every wound, even the worsts illness of humans. Maybe it's one of the reasons why we are not allowed to go up to the surface. The surface I'm talking about is the surface of the ocean and the land where humans live.
What's the pathetic myth that I'm talking about? It's a myth about the love story of a pirate and a mermaid. Well, it started when Ms. Mermaid fell in love with Mr. Pirates but Ms. Mermaid found out that Mr. Pirates doesn't love her. He used her to get the necklace, one of the heirlooms of Ms. Mermaid, and of course her tears were just a bonus. Ms. Mermaid got mad and curse the Pirate that he will never see a mermaid and will always be lead astray when he'll try to hunt a mermaid. Ms. Mermaid put a protection spell in our kingdom and made a law that we're not allowed to go to the surface. And that happened a long time ago that's why I don't know why we're still not allowed to go up.
"Arienne, stop daydreaming and stop playing with your food." Evan scolded me, making me startled.
"Brother, why great-great-grandmother put a protection spell on me?" I asked suddenly.
"I don't know either Arienne. Wait are you thinking what's up there again? Arienne I told you don't disobey that order if you still want to live. The witches and wizards can kill you."
"Bro, chill! I'm not. I'm just curious about why they put a stronger protection spell on me. Will I be in danger in the future?"
"Yes, you are." My uncle interjected in our conversation.
"Hey, uncle Hans?"
"I guess you're at the right age to know why we put a stronger protection spell on you." He said as he sat on the chair, joining us at our table.
"What do you mean uncle?" Evan asked.
"Do you remember Ms. Mermaid witch on the myth?"
"The one who put spell on Mr. Pirates?" I answered. Why I am so nervous about what uncle will share. My heart started beating erratically. I don't know if I wanted to hear it or not.
"It's not a myth, that story really happened a long time ago. Her name is Lalunsina. She's our grandma so basically, we are her descendant. In the past decades after that incident, our family didn't have a female member. It's always been a male that is born to our family. But 20 years ago, you were born and Lalunsina grandma orders us all wizard and witch to put a protection spell on you."
"Okay.... So what's the connection of myself to the incident that happened to grandma?"
"Well you see, you are the new owner of the stone, which is in the necklace that the Pirate tried to take away from our grandma."
"Me?"
"Yes. You have something of Mr. Pirate that he's been looking for all his life. We're not exactly sure if it is his heart or just a stone. All we know is that the stone is something significant to the pirate."
"What do you mean?"
"When Mr. Pirate tries to take the necklace from grandma, he tried to kill her. But you know what happened, the Pirate did not succeed as grandma, protected the stone. Before the Pirate vanished, he vowed that he will kill every mermaid that will stop him from taking the stone. So be careful as you are now the owner of the stone."
"Welp, that is too much for me. I'll go to my room now." I excused myself and withdraw from our conversation.
"Always use your head not your heart Arienne." I heard uncle said as retreated to my room.So that's the reason why I have the protection spell. There are only two choices, it's either he'll catch and kill me first or I'll continue hiding from him. Well, my life sucks. How will I enjoy it if there's always danger looming over me? I can't help to cry over my pathetic life. I always wanted to see the surface and to live freely but after knowing the truth, I don't know if I can still do those things I want to do. This is unfair! I need to think and find ways to be free. I need to make sure that I'll kill Mr. Pirates first.

"Give me the stone or I'll kill all of them." The man sneered at me. I suddenly woke up and thanked that it is just a dream.
"I bet you thinking that's all a dream right?" A gruff voice startled me. I looked in his direction and I'm shocked. The man in my dreams is standing in front of me.
"W-Who are you and where I am?" I don't remember how did I get here. I was just in the Oceana a while ago.
"My dear.. Did you become crazy that you forgot something." He said with a smirk lacing on his face while cleaning his guns.
"W-What do you mean?" I asked and memories started flooding in making my head hurts. I remember that they caught me when I sneakily got into the surface. I tried to swim back but the witch easily captures me using her spells.
"Maybe I am. It's been months since you make me your hostage but you still can't get the answer eh?" I boasted.
"That's why my dear, I've decided to take a risk and contacted my friend Mom again. Is the name familiar?" He replied and took a seat in front of me.
"That wench! The one who took my tails. If I do get out on here, I'll kill that...."
"Ssshh... You always said that but you can't get out here my dear. The boat is heavily spell bounded is only made for you. By the way, I'll give you chance before Momo arrives here. Tell me where is the stone?" He threatened and he put the g*n in my head
I can't tell him where the stone is, cause I'm sure after he got what he wants, he'll kill me. His men who are ghosts tortured me for months, but I made sure to keep it in and survive. No, I won't give up now and make sure that I will escape here. I keep my mouth shut and he grunted, frustration can be seen all over his face. He looked at me again and I stared at him back. I don't know why I can just get lost in his deep black eyes. He's gorgeous. Period! I swear if he's not my enemy, I'll bag him and make him my husband.
"I told you I don't know! I don't even meet my grandma because she's dead. I didn't get to ask where the stone is. Why do you need it so much in the first place!" I shouted and tried to get out of the chains that bind me.
"I guess I don't have a choice. I'll request to Momo to make you, totally human being." He expressed. He got up and made stood up, releasing me from the chains. He tied me again with rope and made me walked to the deck of his ship where his ghost men and some people I don't recognize. Weird, it's my first time seeing them and they totally creep me out especially the one who dressed in purple with smudges of red on his face. Mr. Pirates made me walked and got up on a plank that is situated and barely hanging on the edge of his ship.
"My friends and co-pirates! Let me introduce to you again Ms. Arienne the mermaid who still doesn't want to tell where the stone is." Mr. Prates bellowed and his ghost men cheered. "Until now she didn't spill anything so Momo my friend will make her a human and suffer." He added.
The witch looked at me deeply and her eyes changed, pure white and she chanted some words I can't understand. After what she did, I feel weak.
"This spell will make you suffer being a human because of what your grandmother did to me. All I want is the stone but she's so stubborn and right now her granddaughter will pay." He said and he also got up on the plank. "By the way mermaid, I didn't need your answer anymore after seeing this." He added and showed me my hair clip.
Shit, how did he got my hair clip? He knows now where is the stone. I tried my best to hid my panicked state but he is smirking and I guess I gave it away.
"You know what mermaid, you are not my enemy, I'm sure I'll fall in love with you but I guess this what our destiny is." He points his sword towards and he slowly walked towards me until I am on the very edge of the plank. This is not good, in this state, I won't survive the sea, I am a human now.
"Sayonara my dear." He slightly stabbed me, making me fall into the vast ocean. After I fell, I tried so hard to make myself float and swim into the surface. I tried and tried but the spell is so heavy. Alas, I stop and made myself fell deeper and deeper into the ocean, at least he won't bother me anymore.
