Mandy’s Pov
Maggie’s having a blast while eating breakfast. We shopped for dresses for the upcoming dance for the new medical students and, as usual, she made me choose some slut dresses.
Well, at least she is having some fun. I can’t stop thinking about Dylan. All the questions ran like a racing car through my mind.
They choose a human girl to save them if they’re a future Alpha and only a human they're drawn to can save them if it’s not a full moon.
What s**t is all this? Did he say that or was I dreaming it because I’m so used to saving people’s lives?
I don’t have many answers, but I have a shitload of questions.
“Earth to Mandy?” Maggie snaps her fingers in front of me.
“Sorry, I rethought about the dress we took. It looks a little too, What's the word?”
“Sexy. It looks sexy, so stop it now. You have a beautiful body. Stop hiding it.” She answers and took a massive bite of her bacon. I smiled and tried to hide my current thoughts.
*get out of the mall, * I heard the voice again. I don’t overthink it. I stood up and grabbed Maggie’s arm.
“Let’s go.” she looks at me with concern and shock at the same time.
“Why? We haven’t even gotten to buy shoes and my bacon and..”
“Trust me, let’s just get out of here now.” I grabbed her hand and walked faster. The faster I walk, the more chills I get running through my spine. Like someone is watching me, but I can’t seem to notice anyone watching.
Am I going crazy?
“Mandy, slow down,” Maggie yells.
“Why do we have to go? Did something happen?” she asked, out of breath and she couldn‘t keep up.
“No, I just forgot that I need to see a patient today whom I promised to see.” I slowed down, my breathing shallow, but my body was still numb with fear.
Maggie started laughing and assured me that other doctors are on duty today.
“No, I promised him I would check upon him.” She pulled her shoulders up and I dropped her off at her apartment.
I drove in silence and on a route I’d never driven before, but my mind is telling me to drive it, like a built-in GPS taking my mind over.
The road leads me to an unknown warehouse with trees and bushes everywhere.
I still feel relaxed, like I’m saved, even though this place looks like someone could jump out of a tree right now and kill you.
I drove another mile until I saw a male figure watching me. His hands were in his pockets and he didn’t move an inch until I stopped and climbed out of the car, feeling compelled.
“Can you please change your eye colour?” I asked when I noticed it was Dylan.
He closed his eyes and opened them, and it was no longer yellow.
“You have to stop doing that,” I asked in a low tone, and fear seized my body when I was no longer under his spell.
“Sorry, I had to get you here.” he lowered his face and picked it up and searched the woods while sniffing the air.
“What are you doing?”
“Making sure we’re alone,” he answered honestly.
“Your freaking me out.” he stopped when I moved towards my car.
“Don’t go. He grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to him.” it’s like my body was just injected with morphine when he touched me.
“You have to explain all of this, and without turning your eyes yellow,” I asked.
“Your the first human who wants an explanation without being compelled to understand, and not feel afraid to know.” he smiled, his beautiful eyes, brown eyes cutting through my heart. I’ve never felt before how it feels when someone stares at you and it feels like they are looking right into your soul.
“I have to show you something, then you will understand why I need to keep you safe.” he grabbed my hand and walked towards the warehouse.
“Please don’t freak out,” he asked before he opened the door.
I walked inside and it smelled like the dead inside the warehouse. I grabbed Dylan’s hand in fear and he placed his arm around my waist.
The warehouse has steel tables and steel cupboards with canned food and bottles of water.
There is little light coming from inside the warehouse, and it’s freezing cold inside here.
“What are we doing here?” I asked when he opened another door.
My eyes went enormously big, my entire body trembled, and I couldn’t breathe when I took in what was going on in front of me.
“You have to help them,” Dylan asked when there were four girls tight up with little clothes covering their bodies. Bite marks all over their bodies and some looked infected.
“What is going on here, Dylan?” I was asking in shock.
“Remember, I told you that a future Alpha who feels drawn to a human girl can actually heal them from a bite mark if there is not a full moon? We can only heal on our own on a full moon. If a future Alpha gets bitten by the Alpha and it’s not a full moon, they can die. Only future Alpha’s can heal from human blood.” I backed away from Dylan when I realised that what he was telling me the other night was actually the truth. It wasn’t just me feeling drawn to him.
“Please, Mandy, if you don’t help them they will die before the next full moon,” he begged, and grabbed me.
“Don’t.” I smacked him as hard as I could in the face.
“Don’t make me force you.” I can see him getting anxious and angry, yet he still cares about the girls, who are not even chosen to be his human.
“I will help them, but first you have to answer my questions?” he nodded and loosened his grip.
“Why do you care to keep me safe if I’m your chosen human healer? Who are these girls and if they are other future alpha chosen humans to heal them, why aren’t they taking care of them?” I asked and was too scared to hear the answer.
“They don’t care about human life. These girls are here to heal them whenever they get bitten by another Alpha. Beta’s and omega’s die instantly when an Alpha bites them, but we, as future Alpha’s, can use human blood to heal us, and with a full moon these girls will heal by themselves, but they are in a lot of pain.” I stared at the girls, who were not even conscious anymore.
“Mandy?” Dylan called my name out when I froze and was not even sure if I could save them.
“Why do you even care? Their not your chosen human? And why would the other future Alphas not care if they’re the only ones that can save them from a bite?” all this is too much for my small brain to handle.
“I never cared until I met you. We’re not actually drawn to humans, we were drawn to their blood, but for some strange reason, I felt drawn to you and not just your blood. I knew I wanted you when you tried to help me in the alley.” My heart skipped a beat when he admitted that I’m not like these girls, but he didn’t care before he met me. Who is he, actually?
“You have to let me get to the hospital and get some supplies and IV drips to help these girls.”
“I’m going with you,” he said in a hurry, but I stopped him.
“No, Mike is there and there would be too many questions if I pitched up with a stranger.” He nodded and let me leave for the hospital.
