Chapter 11
Tegwin closed the door behind the Becalmed couple, then leaned against it. She took a deep breath before she spoke.
“What just happened, Luis? What did we do to them?”
Luis squeezed his temples, trying to slow his spinning thoughts.
“I don’t think we did anything. But something changed. I have to get out of here. Walk with me?”
Neither spoke until they got to the path around downtown. The same one where Luis had walked with Ben in what felt like a different lifetime. The sky was the same deep blue where the heavy cloud cover broke, the trees and grass the same rich shades of green.
