Chapter Twelve

POV Caius:

I had to get out of there was what I was thinking when I went for a run in Central Park. After I got back from the mission this afternoon, all I could think about was Ariel, and what she was doing. When I found Ivan in her room, I lost it. Shooting him in the knee was mercy. I wanted to shoot him through the chest. And after Rafael removed him, all I wanted to do was wrap my arms around her, but she was no damsel, she was strong, she’s an excellent fighter, and did I mention beautiful. She consumed my every thought.

I’ve only felt something close to this when I was 17 and she broke my heart. I’ve been with other women after that but never had I felt this strong urge to touch, to feel, to smell someone so badly. I had to walk away from her after we were on her bed. With every kiss, I lost a little more self-control. I nearly died when her soft hands touched my torso. I wanted to take her there, I wanted to take all of her for myself.

I don’t know how I did it, but I pulled the last bit of self-control I had left to leave her room. I needed a cold shower or a long run. When I stopped for a moment to catch my breath, I had already reached the academy. I didn’t even notice I had run through Central Park and back.

After dinner, one of the tech guys rushed to my side with his tablet in hand.

“Sir, we got two pings from Rebecca’s tracker, both miles apart. We’re not sure of the situation yet, and why they are so far apart. It could be a trap.”

“Send me both locations. Marcus! Get your team ready.” I signalled for my team to gear up.

I looked at Ariel, I didn’t want to leave her there alone after what happened with Ivan, and she could be useful in the field right now.

“Go with Izzy and Luce and gear up, you’re coming with us.” She gave me a small smile and left with Izzy.

Ajax and I waited in the foyer, and I gave instructions to Markus and his team.

“We need to find Rebecca, but this could also be a trap, so be careful.” And they left.

Izzy and Luce came through the doors with Ariel at the back. I swallowed and it was caught halfway in my throat when I saw her. She was dressed in tight black pants with black heeled boots. Her top was tight and ended in the middle of her waist, exposing her skin and a black leather jacket. I elbowed Ajax.

“Don’t even think about it.” I warned him, and walked out with the rest of my team.

We drove in my black SUV to the location. We got out and geared up, I hung my arrows over my shoulder and took my bow, Ajax took a large blade, Izzy took a whip and Luce took a blade. I turned to face Ariel.

“Listen, I know we are here to find Rebecca, but I have a suspicion that this is a setup. This might be an ambush. stay close to the team and let’s make sure everyone comes home.”

“I’ll be fine I promise.”

“What weapon will you be using?”

“I'd be fine without one.” She winked at me. She was good with her hands, and I found that to be extremely hot.

We entered what looked like a warehouse. It was abandoned and a little too obvious. Either they held her captive here and she got the chance to signal for help or they knew about her tracking device.

“Ajax, keep an eye out, I’m going higher.” I whispered.

“Copy that.”

I walked up the steel stairs to the side of the container. Softly I walked until I was high enough, I took an arrow and placed it in my bow.
