Everything was so dark and everything was in chaos. Demons and werewolves fought like there's no end to their war. It's nothing new because their war really never ended. For Pete's sake, people just wanted to move in peace and do something without the night being bothered. But as time goes by, the human force was dragging down their war as their worlds gradually tore themselves apart and accidentally interfering with the human world.
Centuries had passed down, both demons and werewolves' realm somehow made it to the human world, alive and in good condition. Their intentions were too cruel; finding humans as their prey and killing humans, getting their souls as the sacrifice for their own prosperity and selfishness. For humans like us, it's hard to endure all of these things happening in our reality. The anxiety brought by these creatures to our world made humans go insane. To think that there are creatures other than us in this world is more terrifying than death.
In the present time, a certain guy named Bryle Cain Zapanta in his late teens claimed that he's living a boring life. Yes, a boring life.
"That will be fifty pesos," he smiled at the female customer to show her, at least, the power of customer service. He then handed her the packed bread she ordered.
*50 pesos is equivalent to 1.03 USD
"Thank you and please take care," Bryle said as the customer left.
Wearing a uniform that doesn't suit his taste makes him puke. But since he wants to live and pay for his pending taxes, he had no choice but to do this job despite being lazy all the time.
Waking up in the morning, eat, go to (college) school, do a part-time job, go home, do the school assignments, eat and sleep. Those things kept repeating like a never-ending cycle in his life. That's why he called it "a boring life."
"Hey, bro," his co-worker, Philip Salvador, poked at him in his shoulder while pointing at the television screen, "Look at the news."
After Philip had said that, Bryle took a glimpse at the news. It turns out the news didn't scare nor flinch him but instead, it gave him the shivers.
"Another five people in Cebu City were attacked yesterday at night by some weird creatures. It was rumored that the werewolves were the ones who attacked the victims. Two people died, and the other three were badly injured. Since the remaining victims can't speak up yet because of great trauma, the witnesses volunteered themselves. According to one of the witnesses, it wasn't the werewolves who attacked them, but instead, it's a creature with a black horn and red-eye between its forehead who attacked them," reported the news.
Customers and other staff members inside the cafe bakery gasped in disbelief as they saw how the dead bodies of the two victims were brutally fractured and desolated. Other organs were gone missing especially the heart.
"Bryle," called Philip after he clicked his tongue, "You should be careful on your way back home. You're living alone, right? I hope you're not the next," Philip laughed sarcastically.
"i***t," Bryle nudged him in the stomach, "I hope you die," he said in a sarcastic tone with a serious face.
"No! Let's die together!" he jokingly said.
Both of them stopped teasing each other when a customer came.
Meanwhile, inside the west forest, there lived a few numbers of surviving werewolves coming from their world. Since their former world, Thorfa was gradually vanishing because of the never-ending war between the demons and themselves, they had no choice but to transfer to the human world. Even though they interfered in our world, they still devour humans as their prey.
"Where are you going?" asked the werewolf with a bit of coldness in his voice. This werewolf was in his human form, covered his face with the black hood he wore.
"I will just roam around and see if he's in this world," answered the other one who also shifted to his human form. He then immediately ran away.
This werewolf has a god-like face on him, broad shoulders, and a manly human form. So basically, he could easily capture humans, especially females, to make them his prey.
The other werewolves in their human forms looked at him with an annoyed look on their faces, thinking that that guy was so reckless and ill-mannered.
Some of them were seeking justice, and some were seeking chaos. So, while they were still staying here in our world, they still have to devour humans to gain power and might. But still, they see humans as lowly creatures even though we're a great help to them. They feed only to humans and animals for their everyday living, but we can't avoid the fact that their favorite meal is us. In contrast, they hunt many many people at night since they can't gain superiority and power in the middle of the daylight, and they would also become so weak and useless if they're exposed to sunlight---unless in their human forms. So for their hunting continuation, they disguised with their human forms.
As for the demons who were the greatest enemies of the werewolves, they kill humans to get their souls and send them to their world, Garfin. The human souls gave strength to demons and can revive the Garfin back to normal. Same as the werewolves, demons also see humans as lowly creatures since humans are powerless. It's just the souls of human beings were the powerful ones.
"Another one?" smirked the creature with a red eye on his middle forehead and two black horns spiraling on his head.
Besides, demons lurking in this world have the faces like the faces of human beings. The same goes for the werewolves. They also used their faces as bait to humans.
"Yes, it is," answered the other demon as he sucked up a male's soul.
The color of the soul of this man was white. So it means, this soul is pure. Purity means prosperity. And if they send this soul to Garfin, the purity soul will become a dreadful soul that will breathe into a new life of a new demon.
Both creatures think of lowly to humans since they are so naive. Humans get easily deceived and get easily killed. None of the werewolves and demons need that kind of creature that's why they continually treat humans as mere pests.
"Goodbye. Take care, Bryle," said the co-worker, Latina, to Bryle as he was about to go home from his shift.
Bryle just didn't respond but instead, he smiled at her while waving his hands to bid farewell.
On his way back home, he thought of what dinner he should eat, what ingredients were needed, and what style he should cook. It's already a quarter till six so not until then, he must hurry to the nearest convenience store to buy some ingredients.
While walking on the sidewalk, he heard something growling in anger at the corner of the dark street, so he hid behind the walls he just passed. Bryle couldn't see the thing because the place was too dark for him to see. He sensed a shadow in that corner, so he trembled while trying to glance at the shadow he felt.
Never in his entire life, he had seen such a creature, so his heartbeat went crazy back and forth. He gasped in shock as he saw the figure of a werewolf shifting into a man, breathing heavily. After discovering what he just witnessed, he immediately closed his mouth while continued breathing heavily.
There's no one around in the street, and if there's someone, they must be too far away from him. So to be exact, all he could do was hide behind the walls in a dark place. After a few seconds, he then again heard the wild growl of this man as if it's raging in anger.
What this poor Bryle could do was just tremble in fear. The news earlier was now recalling in his head, and it's making him think random things. What if the one Philip said to him was true? What if he'll be the next victim? What if he would die right now if he moved an inch?
After a moment, he then realized the growling of the man had stopped. He took off his hand covering from his mouth and tried to calm down himself. While continually shaking in fear, he tried to glimpse a little in the direction where the growling man was.
And for some reason, there was no man he could see from the distance but instead, a man was standing behind him, clenching in anger was what he saw. The man was so huge that in Bryle's point of view, the man's shadow was too big, covering his entire body. His eyes were glowing in red. Steam went out from his mouth as if he's releasing some angry heat from his body.
His face couldn't be seen properly because of the light behind him. But for Bryle, he couldn't move and he was just freezing in fright.
