King Roman
My army of Lycans were out hunting the rouges that were plotting against me. I choose 50 of my strongest members to hunt down and destroy the enemy with me. I left my Gamma in charge to protect the castle and its co-inhabitants, One Lycan could take on at lest 5 wolves. We had been out for 3 days looking for the rogue’s hideouts. Everyone was tired but eager to please me. We’ve already found a handful of rogues and disposed of them after ether interrogation. I wasn’t anywhere near done. With each passing moment I could feel myself grow more angry and violent. But it was getting late in the day and my warriors needed rest.
I looked around for a good spot to rest “We will rest here tonight, we have coverage from the trees.” I ordered.
The warriors started to make camp, Thomas cane up to me with the map. “We should be a day out from here, if our informant is correct.” Thomas sighs. “I’m going to go hunt for some dinner any preferences?” Thomas asked with his wild smile.
I shooed him away as I studied the map and our surroundings. We were very close, because the foul smell of the rogues was getting stronger. The promise of revenge was so close I could taste it.
That night my warriors sat around a small fire and ate a small fest thanks to Thomas and spoke candidly about relationships, s*x, drinks, and other enjoyable aspects of life. I sat in silence far away in my mind.
My beast became restless, I could practically feel him pacing in my mind. What Gwen said kept a playing in my head. My mate was in pain and I couldn’t stop it. I didn’t know where to look, my chest felt tight. Lark kept huffing and pacing in his mind.
“What’s wrong?” I asked Lark
“don’t know, feel uneasy. Need to kill more rouges and kill all vampires!” Replied Lark.
I had to put thoughts about her aside for now and focus on dishing out punishment.
“Let’s get some rest! We move at dawn, that is in about 5 hours.
Sleep didn’t come for me, I just looked up into the heavens all night. If I drifted off the nightmares came. I felt helpless and hopeless making my lycan restless and on edge. The next morning at dawn we were on the hunt again.
“This will be over today!!” I growled and my warriors howled in agreement.
Hours later my warriors soon came upon a cave that was camouflaged with its surroundings. Lots of other rocks and overgrowth hid it well. It was deadly quiet, not even birds could be heard. I have my orders through mind link, half of the Lycans shifted while the others lay low with weapons to catapult silver canon balls that exploded upon impact. We all waited for what felt like forever. Soon enough the smell of rogue permeated my nose.
“Get ready they are almost here.” I mind linked my warriors. The pack of rouges came running through the woods about 10 minutes later with at lest 40 people, either dead or tied up and gaged. The humans were crying, the smell of fear was overwhelming. I watched as the rouges mercilessly beat the humans who fought them and some were molesting the human women, I had enough of this, I was more than ready to rip them all apart.
“Now!!!!” I roared.
I felt Lark come to the forefront, my eyes pitch black and claws elongated. The warriors released the canons into to cave it’s self and my Lycans descended upon the wolves. The Lycans made easy work of the rouges. Snapping, clawing, tearing, breaking the wolves in half. Lycans tore them all apart. I was covered in blood, every kill was overkill. I let rage and fury take over and basked in the kill. More rouges came from the cave screaming and howling in pain from the silver canon. They were put down just like the others.
I glared at the cave, I wanted more blood spilled. I made my way inside alone. Thomas collected the humans who were alive and had a few of the warriors bring them back to the castle until they found a way to bring them back to the human realm. I couldn’t think about the humans now, I was the bringer of death in this moment and I would give it.
Inside the cave I killed everyone that came my way. I didn’t care about anything other than killing them. Once I was satisfied I leaned against a wall and took deep breaths to calm my racing mind and body, I was about to head out when a scent caught my attention,…a mouth watering scent. Like lilacs and rain…The hairs on the back of my neck raised and realization hit me.
“It can’t be” I gasped
“Mate!” Lark snapped
Fear took over my body, that my orders might have killed her. Silver was a death sentence to werewolves. I chased the scent to the back of the cave and followed it down a corridor that went underground. The scent lead me to a dungeon, as I ran in I stopped short and stood frozen and stared……there where about 9 naked women chained up in cells and a dead rouge. Looked like the silver got him and he tried to run back here for safety. I slowly approached the cells letting my nose lead the way. The women cowered from me but I ignored it. I came to an empty cell that smelled the strongest of my mate and found a large amount of blood and chains. My heart clenched as I reached down and touched the blood, I slowly brought it to my face and smelled it. It was definitely her, I became angry and stressed thinking about what happened to her. Seeing the conditions, my mate was in set a new fire of rage inside of me. I wanted to know more about her so I tasted the blood and shock took over me.
“Human.” Lark and I spoke at the same time. Thomas came into view looking around and wondering what was taking the King so long.
“Roman? What’s wrong?” Thomas tilted his head not understanding his King’s demeanor. Thomas continued. “This seemed way to easy Roman, there should have been way more then what was here,”
Suddenly the rouge that I thought was dead started to cough and laugh at the same time. Thomas and I stood over the dying rouge.
“You’re stupid if you think we have just one place!” The man spoke raggedly
Thomas tapped me on the chest with the back of his hand. “Look my King, we have a straggler!” Thomas glanced down at the rouge. “You should join your friends!” Thomas said all too cheerfully as he let one claw slide out extending 9 inches and held it under the rouges chin.
“Who was in this cell?” I spoke softer than I expected. I was dreaded the answer, and felt sick. I could hardly believe my mate was human. It simply wasn’t possible. I felt cursed, first I couldn’t find my mate and now I find out she’s human.
The rouge started to choke. “Just a f**k thing.” the rouge replied coughing up blood. I punched him hard feeling his face break beneath my fist.
“Where is she?!” I roared so loud the cave shook. Griping the rouge by the neck waiting for an answer, the rouge smiled and then died.
“Ahhhhhhhh” I screamed in frustration and slammed the dead corpse into the ground. All the women whimpered and covered their ears.
“What’s going on Roman?!” Thomas asked feeling unsettled over my emotional state.
I rested my head on the bars taking in what was left of my mates scent.
“My mate was here…” I signed
Thomas’s mouth hung open, he didn’t know what to say for a few seconds.
“She’s human.” I Continued “ I don’t know if she’s alive or dead. What am I going to do with a human mate? This has to be a mistake, it’s not possible. “
Thomas was silent for a moment. “How about we find her first, and after that we can think of the next step.” Thomas was thoughtful. “Lycans and humans have never mated to my knowledge but there’s always a first time.” Thomas patted my shoulder. “I’ll gather our men my King.” Thomas said still looking a little shocked.
Once all the humans from the cells and the humans outside were collected the remaining Lycans not taking the humans back to the castle stood at attention awaiting their next commands. I ignored them and kept walking stepping over the dead wolves without an ounce of sympathy and into the woods trying to follow the scent. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do once I found her. Maybe I should reject her and take a chosen mate after all. A human mate would never work. She wouldn’t be able to be strong and lead with me. Humans were completely mortal and extremely weak beings.
Thomas came from the cave with a torn up a piece of clothing with some blood on it. “New mission fellas! Time to find our Luna!” Thomas cheered holding up the blood, each of the warriors cheering along with him and came up to the blood to smell it and get a scent. Having a Luna for was a blessing for the pack. The warriors followed me and spread out to cover more of the area. I wish I was happy about knowing my mate was close but I only felt torn.
I was searching but visions of her in that cell haunted my thoughts. I wondered how long she was there, and what did she have to endure. Human or not she was mine and it torn me up knowing she was hurt. I growled and shifted right then and there shredding my clothes. My beast, Lark was huge, he stood 9 ft tall, black hair covered most of his body, eyes pitch black, long claws protruded from my hands. I roared as I sliced a tree clean in half. Coming across a few rouges that had escaped my ambush earlier and tore them apart. I got a mind link from Thomas that stopped me in my path of death and destruction.
“We lost the scent at the river, but we will pick it up again. You should head this way since we knew she was heading this direction now. Thomas reported.
