Chapter 1: The Man Behind the Mask
The city slept peacefully beneath the midnight sky. Far beyond the glittering skyline, an abandoned mansion stood in complete silence. Hidden beneath its ancient walls was a private underground chamber where fear ruled over every heartbeat. A man knelt on the cold marble floor, trembling uncontrollably. Blood stained the corner of his lips as he struggled to breathe. Ten armed guards stood around him with their heads lowered. No one dared to speak. At the far end of the room, a man sat comfortably in a black leather chair. His face remained hidden in the shadows, while a crystal glass slowly rotated between his fingers. His voice finally broke the silence. "Tell me who took the file... before I decide which finger you won't need anymore." The words were calm. Deadly calm. "Who did you give the file to?" "I... I swear... I didn't tell anyone." The man in the chair slowly placed his glass on the table before standing up. His polished shoes echoed across the room. When he stepped into the dim light, his sharp features became visible. His expression remained emotionless, but the coldness in his eyes was enough to freeze anyone in place. "Lying to me is your biggest mistake." One sentence. Nothing more. The guards understood the order without another word. A few moments later... Silence returned. The man adjusted the sleeve of his tailored black suit as if nothing had happened. "Every document will be on my desk before sunrise." "Yes, Boss." He walked upstairs without looking back. The moment moonlight touched his face, his identity became clear. Zayan Shah. The most feared name in the underworld. A man his enemies knew only as The King. Yet to the rest of the world... He was nothing more than a spoiled young nobleman, a billionaire businessman famous for luxury parties, expensive cars, and a careless smile. And that lie was the greatest weapon he possessed. --- The next morning... Shah Group Headquarters buzzed with excitement. Reporters crowded the entrance, cameras flashing nonstop. "Mr. Shah! One picture, please!" "Sir, are the engagement rumors true?" A sleek black luxury car stopped in front of the building. The driver opened the door. Zayan stepped out wearing a perfectly tailored black suit and dark sunglasses. A charming smile appeared on his face—the same smile the media adored. "Rumors should remain rumors," he answered playfully before walking inside. The reporters laughed. None of them had any idea that only a few hours earlier, the man standing before them had decided another person's fate. Employees immediately stood up as he entered the lobby. "Good morning, Mr. Shah." He acknowledged them with a brief nod. While everyone admired his elegance, no one noticed his observant eyes. Every security camera. Every emergency exit. Every unfamiliar face. Nothing escaped his attention. His secretary hurried beside him. "Sir, today's interns have arrived." "Hmm." "One applicant has a rather unusual profile." That caught his attention. "Name?" She handed him the file. "Ayat Khan." He glanced at the first page before quietly closing it. "Interesting..." He didn't know it yet... But that name would soon change his entire life. --- Across the city... A young woman stepped out of a taxi and looked up at the towering Shah Group building. She wore a simple white dress and carried an old leather folder. Anyone who looked at her would see nothing more than a quiet, innocent girl searching for her first job. Only her eyes betrayed the truth. Cold. Sharp. Calculating. She took a deep breath. "The game begins now, Mr. Zayan Shah." Her phone vibrated. MISSION ACTIVE. TRUST NO ONE. She deleted the message immediately. A gentle smile spread across her face. The innocent girl returned. No one would ever suspect that beneath that smile hid a dangerous mission. Chapter 1 (Continued): Their First Encounter The lobby of Shah Group was crowded with new interns. Everyone looked nervous. Everyone except Ayat. She quietly observed every security camera, every employee, and every entrance before approaching the reception desk. "Miss Ayat Khan?" "Yes." "Please wear this visitor pass. Your final interview will be conducted by Mr. Zayan Shah himself." Ayat widened her eyes, pretending to be surprised. "The CEO?" The receptionist smiled. "Yes. Don't worry. Everyone gets nervous." Ayat simply nodded. Not nervous... Just waiting. --- On the top floor... Zayan stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. His trusted right-hand man, Danish, placed several files on his desk. "These are today's interview candidates." Zayan skimmed through them carelessly until one file made him stop. Ayat Khan. "She's the unusual applicant." "Perfect academic record," Danish said. "Five languages. Outstanding recommendations." Zayan closed the file. "So why apply for an internship?" Danish shrugged. "No idea." Zayan's eyes narrowed slightly. "Either she's hiding something..." "...or someone is hiding her." --- Inside the conference room, ten candidates waited anxiously. Whispers filled the room. "I heard he's extremely strict." "I heard he's arrogant." Ayat smiled to herself. We'll find out. The conference room door opened. Silence fell instantly. Danish entered first. Then came Zayan Shah. His presence alone commanded attention. Every candidate stood immediately. Ayat stood as well... But instead of lowering her eyes, she met his gaze without hesitation. Only for a brief moment. Yet it was enough for Zayan to notice. She wasn't afraid. She wasn't trying to impress him. She was simply... watching him. Interesting. He hid his thoughts behind a cold expression. "Take your seats." The interviews began. Several candidates stumbled over their answers. Some couldn't even finish a sentence. Then Danish called her name. "Miss Ayat Khan." She walked confidently toward the chair across from Zayan. He studied her file. "Top grades." "Yes, sir." "Five languages." "Yes." He closed the folder. "Then why start with an internship?" Ayat smiled politely. "Every great journey begins with a single step." A brief silence followed. Even the HR panel exchanged surprised glances. Zayan leaned back. "What if I reject you?" "I'll apply somewhere else." "That's all?" "Yes." "You won't try to convince me?" She calmly met his eyes. "It's a waste of time trying to change the mind of someone who has already made a decision." The room became completely silent. No applicant had ever spoken to Zayan that way. Danish expected his boss to end the interview immediately. Instead... A faint smile almost appeared on Zayan's lips before disappearing again. She's either incredibly innocent... ...or incredibly dangerous. "Interview over." "Thank you, Mr. Shah." As Ayat turned toward the exit, her visitor card accidentally slipped onto the floor. Both of them bent to pick it up. Their hands reached the card at exactly the same moment. For one heartbeat... Neither moved. Ayat withdrew her hand first. "I'm sorry." Zayan picked up the card and handed it to her. "You should be more careful." She accepted it with a soft smile. "Not everything that falls is an accident, Mr. Shah." Then she walked away. The door closed behind her. Danish looked at Zayan. "Should I reject her?" Zayan kept staring at the closed door. After a long silence, he finally answered, "No." Danish blinked. "Hire her." "Sir?" "I want to know..." His eyes darkened with curiosity. "...who she really is." Meanwhile, as Ayat stepped into the elevator, a small smile appeared on her lips. Step one... complete. Neither of them realized that this meeting wasn't the beginning of love. It was the beginning of a dangerous game where secrets would become weapons... and hearts would become the greatest battlefield.
