In the dark cold room, a man with dark eye bags and a frown looked to the pitch-black darkness behind the metal bars. “wait! What the hell did that kid say about a bedtime story” thought Samuel his eyes also glued to the dark cell.
“TO KILL your Bringers of life for a bedtime story you did not like, heck if they abused you, I would probably try to understand but this it’s too much,” said the man
“oh, my is the great captain Hughes angry at a sweet boy like me? hahaha, f**k old man I’m the victim here, the victim to having useless s**t for brains storytellers aghhhh how nauseating if only HE had stayed longer with me to tell me those wonderful enchanting stories, I wouldn’t need to be tortured by you people with your foul mouths,” said the boy with a self-pitying tone
Samuel’s curiosity could help but get the better of him as he asked out loud “HE? Who is HE?”
Captain Hughes turned his head watching the young man in front of the metal door staring vigilantly at the jail cell.
“Hey, who are you? Are you another one of the old geezer’s underlings, what’s it to you just scram?”
Samuel’s eyes squinted and relaxed after a moment and gave a nonchalant grin as he mustered up all his acting skills and did a trick he knew when wanting to get answers from a psychotic killer he learned while as a detective at the city.
“fine if you don’t want to talk then don’t,” he said
“I won’t now scram” fearlessly replied the child voice in the dark
“Probably not much of a big deal you must be so embarrassed to talk about him knowing the ‘HE’ you mentioned is trash like all of us and probably some us are better than-,”
BANG!
A hissing sound of anger sounded “I dare you to say that again you piece of garbage or on my life, I’ll kill you by ripping out your sinful tongue, roast it and feed it to the mutts to eat” said the boy
His blue eyes wide open and mouth agape Samuel stared at the horrifying spectacle that now had its head against the metal bars as if to phase through them, a small short boy with the appearance of an 8-year-old, a height of 0.9 meters, dried up blood on his tiny hands, mouth and chin to his piglet patterned pajamas and bare pale feet that looked to be covered with dirt.
Disheveled brown hair like that of an electrocuted person and white filled eyes with small pinhead like pupils “Is this even a kid, my god he looks more like a Goblin” thought Samuel shocked by what a small town such as this can have, even in the city of Quill or any big city heck any country it’s rare to have murderer children.
“I knew it this place has some issues now I’m about 15 percent sure my brother’s death might have been a suicide, I’ll have a talk with Captain Hughes after this,” thought Samuel coming back from his absent mind
“well tell me then pipsqueak who is HE?” said Samuel with a look of contempt as he stared at the boy, showing him, he underestimated whoever he talked about and viewed so highly as nothing but a joke.
Hands tightly holding the metal bars, with knitted brows and hostility in his eyes the boy hissed out every word with grit teeth “you piece of filth don’t look at me like that, the one I speak of is the greatest Storyteller to exist, the mastery of his wording will want you wanting more his self-composed stories are above all who claim to be authors before he arrived in my life, I was lost in the darkness I was born into,
But I was showed the true pleasure with words that can’t be created by anyone else, no matter who tries to tell me a bedtime story I can't sleep anymore and I’ll kill anyone who can’t remake anything as remotely good as I experienced” said the Boy
No matter how Samuel looked at it this kid looked like a psychotic junkie, it sounded absurd but he just saw it that way “the lack of sleep must have been too much for his brain and the person he mentions must have given him some kind of drug” thought Samuel shaking his head full of pity for the boy.
“Aghhhh”
With a loud shriek the boy madly shook the metal bars with all his strength “you bastard I see you shaking your head you must think I'm lying just like my s**t for brains parents, good then watch as I call him right now” said the boy
“hmmm hm hmm hm…” then they boy started humming again as he went back into the shadows and disappeared with only the sound of his humming being heard
With a sigh “the kid has lost it” said Samuel walking toward the seated Captain Hughes
Standing upright with his chest out “Captain Hughes my name is Samuel Asphalt a Detective on volunteered transfer from Quill city” said Samuel
A cold stare met his eyes confusing Samuel “you made a huge mistake by coming to this town with your family” said Captain Hughes with a stern tone as he dropped his cigar on the ground and stepped on it as he stood up.
He was 10 cm taller than Samuel with the appearance of a 55-year-old man and some grey hair strands on his goatee and eyebrows.
“Yes, sir but I had to come and make sure that-,”
“Yeah, yeah something about your brother but that also is the thing that pisses me off about city folk thinking you are all that high and mighty, looking down on the investigation system of our small town,” said Captain Hughes
“no sir I don’t mean this as a sign of disrespect or belittling your small-town task force-,”
“listen when I speak to you Detective Asphalt because you're in my turf now and I call the shots while you follow,” said Captain Hughes with a frown
The way he was being talked to gave a bad impression to Samuel as he had never been treated like this “I know you come from a rich family and even though you left them their shadow still hovers over you to protect you as you are still family which led to you being treated as an equal at the big city you came from but let me get things straight with you boy,
This is my town and here I am the law, I especially don’t want a solo act in my town so no. I will not let you reopen your brother's case because it has already been dealt with and if you don’t like it your welcome to leave this town”
“huh?” with his eyebrow raised Samuel got caught off guard by this outcome
What the hell is happening here “but if you choose to be stubborn and stay know that you won't be touching any investigative case as long as I am here DETECTIVE” said Captain Hughes sternly
