CHAPTER III Discoveries –––––––– * * * * THE PASSENGERS SURGED onto the windy airfield. With the others, Vicki waited a moment in the shadow of the great plane. One by one, they started up the steps. Vicki climbed up too, hesitating at the plane door where the hostess crossed off each passenger’s name. Vicki ducked her head to go through the low, steel door and climbed up the aisle of the steeply slanting cabin. Here were rows of deep, reclining leather chairs, two together on the left side of the aisle, single seats on the right. Vicki pulled herself along by grasping seat backs, and found a single seat midway in the ship.
