Chapter Thirty Mari. My arms shook as I pushed myself off the ground. Glass sliced my palms. More of the shattered pieces slid off my back as I made myself kneel. Mari. There was a fire by the back wall. And bodies. And crumbled concrete. Mari. Some of the guards ran toward that fire. The ground tilted as I finally got to my feet. I tipped sideways, falling against the table. But the table was soft and too high. I looked down at my arm. I’d landed on a woman’s body. Her back had been burned. Mari. Heat lapped at my skin as I stumbled away from the corpse. The trucks. All the trucks had caught fire. Mari. There were people screaming. Someone was waving their arms, trying to get everyone’s attention. There was terror on her face as she looked toward the trucks. It was Harper.
